  5. Obviously everyone here is interested in games, and based upon there being topics dedicated to politics and political standings, I was wondering if anyone here has played Erepublik? Not that its a game about politics. You can play it and never pay any attention to that, but its the only game I've seen where there is real and involved politics. You can also fight (preferably for your country), and have your own newspaper, your own companies and whatnot. Has anyone here at all played it? If you haven't its quick and free at erepublik.com. I'm not going to post my referral link as I don't want this confused with advertising, giving that a referral gives a little benefit. Since you wont be added to my friends list via referral, search for Syz2 and add me as friend.
  6. I happened to see a commercial yesterday for a pizza company whose slogan was "Life is short. Eat better pizza." and it really made me want to try their pizza. So now I want to know what some of the best slogans are. Anyone know of any good slogans?

Apperently not, seeing as how 2 or so mods play and even more post here. I'm pretty sure advertising other games is what you're thinking of. Discussing other games, as far as I'm aware, is perfectly fine. I was really thinking about generally discussing them, but oh well, I guess I remember wrong.

  9. I know its not a puzzle in the traditional sense, but sneaking is one of the more "interesting" puzzle approaches, coming with all the frustration you find in most typical puzzles. I think geneforge would have been fine without sneaking puzzles, but I didn't mind them as they generally weren't to difficult. Anything else puzzle-like in geneforge was pylon mazes, at least as far as I can recall. As for the previous posts on greetings, I don't think I've ever received the traditional greeting.
  10. I'm shocked to see this nobody mentioned.

  13. http://www.isidewith.com/results/28167045 I haven't really heard much about Gary Johnson, so its a good thing to find out about him when I apparently support his ideas most. Also Virgil Goode I supported 97% in the areas I put most for (I stopped bothering with that slider right after the beginning though) and I hadn't heard of him really. I'm interested in comparing these results with the results of the old thread.
  14. Its been almost 2 years since I took this, so: INFJ Introvert(78%) iNtuitive(12%) iNtuitive Feeling(12%) Judging(33%) You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%) You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%) You have slight preference of Feeling over Thinking (12%) You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (33%) It doesn't seem very accurate though. Maybe if I had some sleep and took time on it.
  15. In many works of literature as well as games, that's just the way dragons have always been. It fits well, and they just classically have that character. For Jeff to make Dragons not arrogant, he would not follow the classical dragon nature, and the games wouldn't feel as good in a immersive sense, as it is different from the idea of dragons most people are used to. Its just the way dragons anywhere are.

It was actually a big thing back then if I remember. Found it on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modified_Newtonian_dynamics Quote: Consequently, the velocity of stars on a circular orbit far from the center is a constant, and does not depend on the distance r : the rotation curve is flat. The proportion between the "flat" rotation velocity to the observed mass derived here is matching the observed relation between "flat" velocity to luminosity known as the Tully-Fisher relation. At the same time, there is a clear relationship between the velocity and the constant a0. The equation v=(GMa0)1/4 allows one to calculate a0 from the observed v and M. Milgrom found a0=1.2×10−10 ms−2. As expected, this quantity is far smaller than any acceleration typically found in solar system-scale interactions. To explain the meaning of this constant, Milgrom said : "... It is roughly the acceleration that will take an object from rest to the speed of light in the lifetime of the universe. It is also of the order of the recently discovered acceleration of the universe." Even if it was proved wrong, its still good to keep an open mind to other possibilities. With all the work put into dark matter research, we really hope we aren't wrong though.
  17. Was that whole "new equation" that explains dark matter effects without there being dark matter ruled out then?
  18. Economic Left/Right: -2.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.38 Edit: A lot of these questions feel a little hard to understand what it is asking. The example that comes most readily to mind is whether it is asking ideally or realistically, as in I might think one is what would be ideal, but it will most likely have to be the other choice based on the way things are and tend to work.
  19. My guess is that a pick your favorite, vs pick 3, the results would be very different. Someone's top three might be "well those are the only three I played" against someone's actual favorite, giving same credit despite very different opinions between the two people. If it was a pick one, its more likely for people to pick their favorite, rather than a game receiving lots of credit due to votes that don't give strong opinion because people want to use all three. In a pick one, votes are more likely to be equally deserving.
  20. I'm guessing I could only choose one, so I chose Geneforge 1. I had hoped G2 and Nethergate would get more love too.

The main quest still must be completed in order, but you don't have to do it yet if you would rather go somewhere else. Oh, and non-linear is much much better.
  23. Your best bet to have Jeff read this (and he should) is to email it to him. Jeff doesn't really ready his forums, he made a blog post just about why he shouldn't. He responded to my email before pretty quickly, so I recommend you email it to him.
  24. I remember trying some taste strips that were only able to be tasted by people with a certain gene. I found it fascinating, unfortunately I was genetically suitable for tasting the strip. I could have just tried some hand sanitizer instead if I wanted that taste.
