  1. Okay, well maybe not too difficult, but still a bit unnecessary. I'm guessing it would still be more work than just a minimap. If you're gonna have a zoom out feature you might as well make it pretty. So my point still stands, IMO. By the way, does anyone know what language Jeff writes games in?

  3. That zoom out thing sounds difficult to program, an since it's not completely necessary I'm gonna take an educated guess based on Jeff's previous actions and say he won't do anything flashy like that. I'm a geneforge guy, and the new map style hasn't bothered me as much, however more details in the mini-map is something that I was expecting from his future games.
  4. My eyes keep wandering toward it, I can't fully focus on the post...
  5. I wonder if you can do this in G2... Then you can get into Ghaldring's door!
  6. Tuldaric is less plot-central than Khyryk, you don't even get to talk to him unless you join a certain faction. Although he is an important member of that faction, he is not entirely central to it. He certainly gets less screen time. He's a crazy, eccentric Shaper, dedicated to achieving what he sees as the best path. There are dozens of characters in the Geneforge series like this, so his characterization is nothing unique. On the other hand, one could say that he represents the Magus Complex and the resulting magic serviles which we have seen in the next three installments. In fact, if not for him the servile class in G4/5 wouldn't be able to use magic or shape. So he does hold significant historical impact that Khyryk does not (arguably, Khyryk influenced G4's PC to do the Trakovite ending, although I'm not sure how canonical that is). However as a character I would say that Khyryk is more developed.
  7. The unaligned path is still a path, so thus it can be considered a sect (although this depends on what qualifications something must have to be a sect. For me, it's the ability to get a certain ending pertaining to a certain side. Here it's the Council, so technically you are staying true to your allegiance to the Shapers who sent you there). So, if there was an ending in G1 where you could unleash Sucia's angry ghosts on the mainland via helping Huestess, that would be considered a sect. Alas... On a side note your angry baby avatar is a bit disconcerting.
  8. I choose Heustess, because the only reason he doesn't have a sect is that if he did, all the other sects would look like pathetic weaklings in comparison. Upset the game balance and all that.

Isn't she in the G1 bonus dungeon? As for Khyryk, I agree with Dantius on this one. In G3 he wasn't really central to the plot, he just served to move it along. In G4 his involvement is completely unnecessary, the game would be exactly the same without him, minus the trakovite sub-plot and ending.
  10. Heusstess ftw. Sharon from G2 deserves an honorable mention, IMO. One thing that I felt was missing from G5 were more references to the other games. I was really hoping to find some kind of Shaper library, and have a few of the records in there clear up what happened to some of the interesting side-characters (Like Sharon or Khyryk). I was actually expecting to find Khyryk's body somewhere, or at least his grave. Ah... wishful thinking.
  11. Wingbolts are G4-G5 creations. G1 would be much more unplayable if there was a wingbolt canister somewhere because that would mess up the balance of the game.
  12. Umm... I really don't see why you're having so much difficulty. The inventory is, in fact, scrollable and so is the map. If you're having trouble with the scroll rate just use the mini-map. Really, "f" and "g" are the only two keys you should ever use (not including the spell hotkeys, but I don't favor those much).
  13. Cryodrayks, they're powerful and have a much smaller chance of going insane as opposed to Shapers and Drakons.

I would like to thank Dikiyoba for writing her Spiderweb-related literary works, because of reading them I can occasionally tell what you guys are talking about.
  15. No, I do not think so. Geneforge 3 is a continuation of Geneforge 2 and Geneforge 4 is a continuation of Geneforge 3.
  16. Just out of curiosity, does Dikiyoba mean anything or is it just a made-up word?
  17. The Barrier of the Winds is really kind of a proto-unbound step. Maybe intentionally, or maybe Jeff just decided to reuse an older concept. When I first heard about the Unbound I thought to myself "huh, didn't the awakened try to do something like that back in G2?". Which is strange because I always considered the awakened to be the most level-headed of the four G2 factions (Barzites and Takers were controlled by power-hungry mad-men(or mad-creatures, if you will), the Loyalists were pretty sane, but they didn't really seem to think for themselves). On the other hand, there's Tuldaric, but he doesn't really influence the Awakened leadership as much as the other mad-men influence their respective sects.
  18. Oh god... the mental images... at least the spray would cover up their sparkles. But then if that was true, the Twylight books would look like this: Vampire: My true form is only visible when I am in contact with sunlight... so i must conceal it with a spray-on tan! Stupid Girl: What can possibly be so horrible about you that you must cover yourself with orange paint? Vampire: I SPARKLE.
  19. Doesn't his wife do most of the dialog in G5 anyway?
  20. Heh... in russian morda means face (or snout, I guess something in between a face and a snout). Vahnavoi, because it is the most original sounding out of the bunch.

  22. Yeah, same here. I believe I discovered these while looking for a walkthrough for G2. Quite a while ago. I even had an account on the old boards, but I can't remember my username (all I remember is that it wasn't as witty as my current one (and my current one isn't really all that witty)).
