  1. Never mind, I got it to work. Thanks to everyone who responded!
  2. Yes. I brought all my creations inside, then I went inside myself.
  3. My problem is that the north door isn't shutting. I already have a plan to survive the core, but I can't seem to make it turn on. I've tried walking around the room a bit - no luck. What do I need to do to make the north door shut?
  4. I'm in Gazaki-Uss, and I'm trying to get through the power core. The problem is, I'm having trouble triggering the event that activates the core. I'm sending my creations to the far edge, then walking in myself, but the core doesn't turn on. I only managed to trigger it once, but that time I messed up. What am I doing wrong? This is a glitch, right?
  5. Just imagine it's intelligent and can talk.
  6. Minecraft Avernum: Escape from the Pit Avernum 3 Pokemon Platinum Super Mario 3D Land Super Mario Galaxy Geneforge 5 Again, in no particular order. And it doesn't include all of my favorite games - just the ones that popped into my head.
  7. Here's an idea: make it possible to "minor" in an attack mode. As it is, the way things work in this game means your minor will be pretty much useless due to horrid accuracy/damage, and putting equal focus on two skills will make you sub-par with both. The only exception is healing, since Minor Heal is a great spell even if you put little focus on it. If this remix makes it feasible to be a decent archer and fighter at once, I will be very happy.
  8. Roentgenium grabs an exploding watermelon and pulls a knife and some gunpowder out of his dimensional pocket. He slowly shoves his knife into the watermelon until it reaches the center, then sprinkles gunpowder in the center. Roentgenium: A fruit explosion and an actual explosion, all in one! This should be helpful if we get into a fight in one of these memories - maybe we'll revisit the Attorosi war of old.
  9. Due to being a radioactive, flaming golem who is only shaped like a human, Roentgenium has no need for human food. However, he still asks Actaeon to get him a takeout menu to browse while playing Age of Castles, since the game doesn't require constant attention.
  10. Roentgenium wakes up from his nap and pulls a laptop out of a large pocket that suddenly appears in his suit. Roentgenium: *to himself* Dimensional pockets sure are handy. Now where is that folder... After a few seconds, he manages to find the folder he stores his games in. He double clicks on the Age of Castles icon. Roentgenium: With any luck, my digital medieval community should help speed up this bus. It probably won't do anything, of course, but it should at least pass the time.
  11. A tall humanoid figure wearing what appears to be a metallic - yet oddly flexible - robe that covers his entire body walks onto the spider bus. The only gaps in the robe are where his eyes are, and a yellow-orange light shines through them. Roentgenium: I hope you don't mind me coming along for the ride. Oh, and, uh, it's probably safest if nobody sits next to me unless they want to get very sick very fast.
  12. Personally, I use defend most often in random encounters, because they often start with my fighters too far away to attack anyone. I rarely use bows on my fighters, and even more rarely on my second slot fighter, who I generally make a slith and give tool use to - that means I have fewer skill points to spend on missiles, while my first slot fighter (often a nephil) is decent with them naturally and generally has more spare skill points to spend. Either way, most of the time, I use defend because melee and pole weapons do more damage than missiles, and the defend option lets the enemies come to me so I can hack them to pieces.
  13. I got TV Tropes > Wiki > Website > Webpage > Document > WordNet > Lexical database > Lexical resource > Lexicon > Linguistics > Science > Knowledge > Information > Order theory > Mathematics > Quantity > Property (philosophy) > Modern philosophy > Philosophy. Then I decided to try Pragmatism > Instrumentalism > Philosophy of science > Scientific method > Scientific technique > Systematic process > Critical thinking > Reason > Fact > Experience > Concept > Philosophy. Yuna, you own me those last 5 minutes of my life.
  14. Hey, would you mind if I occasionally posted how I was doing in the game? I'm going to try to play a sorceress through the game on Torment, but I'll probably be doing several things wrong, since optimizing isn't my strong point in spiderweb games. I'm not terrible, but I'm not good. I'm going pro-shaper, since I honestly prefer the shaper's point of view. I'll try not to make my posts too long, though they'll probably be long anyhow, since I generally type my posts without looking at them, and look through them once I'm done typing. If you'd prefer I make my own thread, that's fine; I'd like putting it here, but I'm willing to make my own thread, if you don't want me to.
  15. I have all 3 artemis books - Servant of the Shard, Promise of the Lich-King, and Road of the Patriarch. Huh, I just noticed that the titles are all the same style; *noun* of the *noun*.
  16. I'm fortunate enough to not really have to do homework - my teachers let me do it in homeroom.
  17. I think the main reason a 2-party man is possible in the first 3 avernum games is because the experience gained is split among the party. So when you have 2 characters, they gain experience faster than a party of 4 characters would. From Avernum 4 onward, each character basically gained their experience individually, so a 4-man party would grow as quickly as a 1-man party. This change meant a 1-man party would get significantly fewer skill points, and since they have to be a jack of all trades to do well, this made them nearly impossible to play. As for the geneforge series, if you want an easier time, use the "broken build" - the one that makes the game incredibly easy, if played right. In Geneforge 2, this was the parry-focused guardian; in Geneforge 3, this was the vlish shaper; Geneforge 4 had the mental magic-focused servile; Geneforge 5 has the battle creation-focused lifecrafter/shaper. I don't think geneforge 1 had one, though.
  18. Also, how far can you go with powergaming the sects? I'm asking this because Alwan is the only sect I want to actually join (SPOILERS); I dislike Rawal due to the control tool thing; Astoria treating the rebels as equals doesn't feel right to me; the Trakovite's anti-shaping view seems very narrow (I'm pretty sure crops are more productive than normal due to shaping magic); Ghaldring has caused more destruction to the Shapers than the Shapers have done to the rebels; Taygen's creationocidal plan is, in my opinion, short-sighted, as the creations that died would need to be replaced quickly, and if they can't, most low-class people and probably some middle-class people would start rioting (END SPOILERS). I know I want to side with Alwan, but how can I powergame the sects and still end up on Alwan's side (preferably in a fairly easy way; I'm not a very good powergamer, but I'm going to start trying this game)?
  19. How is the sorceress best? I don't really know enough about them to know how they're played on torment - I've only played torment in geneforge 5 with a battle creation lifecrafter, if I remember correctly.
  20. Wait, how are you able to sneak into Gorash-Kel so easily? I don't think you can obtain any stealth-boosting items at that point of the game, and you can't boost your action points either. Also, what class are you playing as?
  21. Okay, is there anything else we can speculate on? Oh, and I'd like to point out a mistake in the current list of combat skills - if you actually read it from left to right, riposte would come first, and lethal blow would come third, not the other way around. Oh, and why is it saying "needs unknown from tier 3 and improved to hit from tier 2.5", when the skills in question have their actual names - quick action and sharpshooter, respectively - said in the same post? Sorry if I'm missing something; I just don't get how it make sense.
  22. I think we should start speculating on the Magic/Misc category. We should be able to figure out which "tier" some of the skills are in, at least. The obvious ones are Mage Spells and Priest Spells - almost surely Tier 1. I can't think of any others - I'll add more, if i can.
  23. ...Isn't this supposed to be a sandwich survey? I've seen several topic changes in the General Forum before, but nobody's mentioned a sandwich on page 2 of this topic at all, and I'm pretty sure that sandwiches were the topic for less than half the posts on this topic. And considering the title has the word "sandwich" in it, some people might get confused if they skip ahead to read the latest surveys. Personally, I don't mind it too much - I haven't had a sandwich in a long time, anyhow - but it's still really vexing. Why is the General Forum, in particular, filled with so many topic changes? I would love an answer. On topic, I personally wish wikipedia would stop linking so many articles on each article. Information is good, but if I need information on one specific topic, it's made harder by the temptation to look at other articles that are linked on the article I actually need information from.
