  1. PPP? I do not remember what that is, could you post the link for it? I guess I will just wait for the archives to be back up, then. Thanks to everyone who responded!
  2. Wow. Very odd that I never found that one, since I am usually pretty thorough. Thank you, Abhishek and Randomizer!
  3. So if you take it, you have to use it for Beastslayer?
  4. I remember that way back when there was an interesting Xian Skull thread that stretched for a good number of pages. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to that thread, since it was rather entertaining to read. I have searched for it, but I have found nothing (maybe I am not trying hard enough?) Also, if for some reason I am not supposed to ask about where the thread is, then please do not beat up on me, okay moderators? Thanks to everyone who helps me find this excellent thread!
  5. I know that there is already a topic on this, but it did not answer the question that I had, and I did not want to revive an old topic. So my question is, in Avernum 3, is there more than one set of metal lumps? Because it seems in the old topic that there was more than one, possibly more than two, but I have only ever found the ones that Arion wants back. Can anyone tell me where the other metal lumps are, if there are any? Thanks to everyone who replies!
  6. I am not 100% sure, but last time I killed Grah-Hoth it did not give any reputation points. I think it is the same with finding the exit to the surface. I would guess, then, that whatever reputation you have now would be the maximum unless there are some sidequests you have not done yet. Thank you for doing this for me, Nikki.
  7. I was just hoping that someone else was obsessive like me and tried to get the maximum reputation, so that they could corroborate the maximum reputation that I got. Like I said, I thought that 47 was an odd number to have the maximum reputation (without cheating). And to Alorael, I think that the most reputation that matters is 30, which is the point that Athron teaches Slow L3.
  8. I did not do any of the negative reputation quests (I cannot stand killing a beggar, even if it is in a game), and 47 is all I got. Anyone else have an idea of the maximum reputation? Thanks in advance for replies!
  9. Hmmm, I am pretty sure it is not that high, considering that I did most of the sidequests already. Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think so.... Thanks for the answer anyways. I think that that is the maximum reputation for Avernum 2.
  10. Hello, everyone. I was just wondering what the maximum reputation on Avernum 1 was. Right now I have 47 reputation, but that seems like an odd number to have as the maximum, and I thought that at some number of reputation you are given the title of a "True Hero", which I figured would have been 50. I know that having reputation past about 25 has no further effects, but I was just wondering what the maximum was anyways. Thanks to everyone who helps out!
  11. Actually, if you target the cat with a melee attack or a spell, it does ask if you want to do it, and your reputation does go down if you attack. This is not the case with a bow. It does not even ask if you want to attack, you just shoot and the cat dies, with no reputation loss.

Yeah, I did notice that the right mouse button only moves one step. I guess I will just have to use the mouse. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions, though!
  13. Alright, so I was in the nephilim fortress and accidentally targeted a cat with my archer. The cat obviously died, but my reputation did not go down. I thought that it was supposed to ask you if you were sure you wanted to attack, since the cat was not hostile. Thanks to everyone who answers!

    USB Keypad

I tried with numlock and without numlock. When it is off, only the 2, 4, 6, and 8 keys move the character anywhere. When it is on, it does not move the character anywhere. Also, it moves only diagonally in Avernum, but up and down and sideways with Blades of Avernum. Again, thanks to everyone who tried. I am kind of getting used to using the mouse, but if anyone has any suggestions for me to try, they are still welcome.

    USB Keypad

I just tried Blades of Avernum as well with the USB keypad, except with Blades of Avernum the 2, 4, 6, and 8 keys move the character only north, east, south, and west as compared to only diagonally with Avernum. Any other suggestions? If not, then I guess I will just have to deal with it. Thanks to everyone who tried anyways.

    USB Keypad

Interesting. I opened up notepad and typed in numbers using the USB keypad, and the keypad works just fine. I guess it must be something with the game. The question now is how to fix it.

Other games? The only games I have are Spiderweb games. They're the only ones I like (seriously). I do not have sticky keys turned on either, I already checked. Any other suggestions? Thanks to everyone who has tried to help me out already!

    USB Keypad

Yes, it is Windows Vista Home Premium. I tried with numlock on and with it off, but no luck.

    USB Keypad

I already know this, and going back and checking confirms it, except that I have to hold down the, say, 7 key to move west. Simply pressing it once does not work. I hold it down for about one second or so, and then the character moves about ten spaces to the west instead of one.

Alright, so I am playing the Avernum Series on my laptop, so I purchased a USB keypad so that I could use the keypad for moving inside dungeons, since the mouse moves you more steps than you want to go most of the time. However, it appears that the USB keypad can only move you diagonally. Is this a problem with the game, or is it a problem with the keypad? Thanks in advance to everyone who answers!
  21. Hey, thanks a lot, Toby-Linn! It works now! Thanks again to everyone who responded!
  22. I am not very good with computers, so I am not sure what you are talking about. Could you clarify what legacy/compatibility mode is for me? Also, the demo runs fine, so that is why I was wondering if the demo is the same version with all of the updates as the CD version. If this is the case, then it does not matter if the CD version works or not, since the demo works fine, and all I have to do is use the key that was sent. However, it would be ideal if I could get the CD to work if it is the updated version of the downloadable demo. Thanks to everyone who replies!
  23. I recently received the CD for the Avernum Trilogy. It installs fine, but when I open it and try to start a new game, it never gets past the introduction storyline. It just freezes and I have to open the task manager to close it. Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks to everyone who responds! By the way, are the versions that are available for download from the site the same as the ones on the CDs?
  24. All right, I got my question answered now. Again, thanks to everyone who responded!
  25. Hmmm, I could swear that someone said that it gave bonuses to stats every couple of levels on either Avernum 1,2,3, or Blades of Avernum. I was just trying to figure out which one Divinely Touched was actually useful on between those four, so that I could know which one to get it on. And I think it was Blades of Avernum that it gave the Divine Aid ability, which is actually a useful ability in my opinion, and that the power of the shades that are summoned actually increases from a lowly shade to something more powerful. Am I correct on this? It sounds very useful for Avernum 5 as Tri-Consonantal Rout pointed out, but I do not have that game. Sorry for so many questions on this one topic, I just really want to figure out if Divinely Touched gives statistic bonuses in any of the Avernum series that I mentioned, so if anyone knew this information it would be very helpful. Thanks to everyone who responds!
