  1. As a guardian, the only good use for a creation is to make it a thief. The guardian hides around the corner, and the thief creation walks in and steals everything in sight. Even when done in full view of the objects' owner, the crime is never seen. (Not sure that it works in all versions)

    So true, but Talented Scavenger started in Avernum, and I just hadn't figured out the junk bag when I started Avadon.
  3. The planet is made out of stuff. Everything is made out of stuff. Some things have stuff stuffed closer together and tighter into them, so they are heavier. Some things have less stuff in them, and as such are lighter. A complete vacuum is the absence of stuff. A black hole is where stuff is stuffed so close together that it attracts all the other stuff it can reach, and won't let any stuff escape, even the stuff that light is made out of.

    This is the theory of everything. It's all stuff.

  4. I overcame the money problem with a little hack I call "Talented Scavenger". I made rocks weigh 1/10 of a lb and be worth 1500 coins. Whenever I see a rock on the ground, my character stuffs it in the junk bag. I hate feeling strapped for cash in a game. The way I see it, my character should be a larger-than-life hero type, and, as such, he should be beyond a lot of mortal limitations.

  5. I had a pacifist van back in the day, too. Big peace sign on the side, carpeted inside, a blacklight tapestry of pegasus in space on the ceiling, little bubble windows on the side, and a "secret compartment" that would not have been very effective at hiding things from the cops if they ever looked. But that was long, long ago.

    Wouldn't that make said wizard not so much evil as eccentric?

    Are you kidding me? A hundred thousand immortal, adorable kittens isn;t evil?!?! Don't you know that kittens try to kill you in your sleep? They are almost as evil as poodles!
  7. Avernum 4 was my first Spiderweb game, and, as such, it has a nostalgic appeal to me. I imagine that if I go back and try it again, though, I'll notice things that bother me about it when compared to AM5, AM6, and AD.

    AM = AvernuM

    AD = AvaDon

    Though It could be AU and AO, or Ave and Ava...

    At least GeneForge and Exile don't start with Av.

  8. Actually, Cajun, Slarty is a moderator. That is a fancy word for Cuss Police, Bigotry Police, Hate Police, etc. Oh yes, and someone who can ban you from the forums for violating the rules of conduct. Isn't it nice to get a warning first?

  9. The CIA did not try to get the show taken off the air. The CIA did not worry about anyone finding out about the 'Silent Shroud' project. There was just an interesting correlation between the two. Knowledge of the existence of 'Silent Shroud', though limited to the public, was commonplace in the intelligence community, and did nothing to diminish the effectiveness of the device. It was abandoned due to the difficulties of using it over long distances. The agents got tired of having to constantly repeat themselves when the dampening sounds got out of synch, and usually eventually turned it off to facilitate clear communication at the expense of secure communication.

    Of course, none of this is true, and it never really happened.
