I would have entered a character myself, but my schedule's just a little too hectic. I'll try and be there to spectate, though.

Warrior's Grove Scenario Contest
Duck in a Top Hat replied to Duck in a Top Hat's topic in Blades of Avernum
Was this bug something wrong with the scenario, or something with BoA that you couldn't fix? I was working on an entry for a while, but I pretty much stopped as well. If those were the only entries in progress, I guess we can consider this contest dead. -

*Bump* Is anyone still working on this? -

IMHO, no one should ever be executed unless it was certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were guilty and that they could never change. And even then, it should be used sparingly if not at all.

A:EftP - New Races Ever?
Duck in a Top Hat replied to Death Knight's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)

I need someone with experience making custom terrain graphics to make me a graphics sheet with an animation of a Crystal Pillar with cracks spreading across it for a scenario I'm currently working on. The Crystal Pillar is terrain number 357 (the tall one) and the original graphic is in sheet 767. What I'm looking for is a 5-frame animation where in the first frame, cracks are starting to appear on the crystal, and they steadily get bigger until in the last frame it's covered in cracks but still intact. Thanks so much to anyone who can help with this!

Screenshot looks absolutely stunning. I can't wait for fixed PPC compatibility.

Also I think we were in the meantime going to try and prove to Jeff that the community is still alive by releasing as many new scenarios as possible and finishing the two contests we have going on.
-
Is the update for Intel Macs only? I downloaded it, but it's not running on my computer (PowerPC).

Also, the scene in The Two Towers where Gollum talks to himself. Pretty much any of the scenes with Gollum, actually.

I'm not entirely sure when I'll be free but I'll do my best to free up time whenever's best for everyone. If we're going to be discussing future plans for the open-source BoA I could brainstorm a few possible features to add.

"TROOOOLL!!" These are not the hammer. Quote: Can the whole of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World count as scenes? I say yes.

Fallout 3 is probably my all-time favorite, with New Vegas and Morrowind close behind. I think I would have enjoyed Morrowind much more if I had played it back when it was first released; it can't really compare to the more modern first-person RPGs.

What have you been reading recently?
Duck in a Top Hat replied to Emmisary of Immanence's topic in General
Finally got around to reading Lord of the Rings for the first time. I'm about a sixth of the way through The Return of the King and loving it. -
I agree, Blades of Avernum II would be great, but think of all the extra work it would be for designers to make good scenarios with the new engine. For instance, the new creature graphics sheets all contain frame upon frame of painstaking 3D animations that would be near impossible for designers to recreate in custom graphics. Custom graphics would be slow to make and would never fit in with the quality of the default graphics. What we really need is BoA to go open-source so we can finally fix all of the game's bugs and other flaws.

A:EftP - New Races Ever?
Duck in a Top Hat replied to Death Knight's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
I'm hoping for a race of humanoid dog-people to keep the Nephilim population in check. Quote: Would be great if Blades got remade to but I recall Jeff saying that would be highly unlikely After Jeff has the engine and graphics all put together from the original trilogy remakes, I wonder how difficult a BoA remake would actually be to put together. How long did it take to make the original BoA? -
Three Twenty-Three
Duck in a Top Hat replied to Tyranicus's topic in Blades of Avernum Scenario Reviews
The writing was great, but the plot and premise were both disappointing. The design was good in the second town, but I can't judge the scenario based on the poor design in Warrior's Grove. The lack of combat made sense based on the plot but I was still disappointed. I got lost after I explored most of the town and didn't know what to do next. I had to look in the scripts to find out that I was supposed to search literally everything in the town before I could move on. After I had done that, I had no idea what to do next. There could have been a message telling me to leave town or something. Rating: [rating]Substandard[/rating] -
