drath book, give to whom
Triumph replied to Carranzero's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
Visa, it's everywhere you want to be! But it's not in Avernum, because no one wants to be there! -

We need more Spiderweb-themed webcomics. -

Men's and Women's Names
Triumph replied to Wanderer's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
There's hardly anyone with last names in Avernum, is there? I mean, by far most people have only one name, at least that we ever know about. There are a few exceptions, people who have both a personal name and a family name, but they are rare (Erika and Tor are examples of this, if I remember correctly). -
Ritual of Sanctification
Triumph replied to Californian's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
The problem is that your Priest skill is too low. You should be able to see, if you hover your cursor over the spell in the Priest spell menu, that you need 11 Priest skill to use it. You can learn spells without actually having sufficient proficiency to cast them. That's what happened for you. I hope that helps! -
Which faction did you join? G5 really has three "rebellious" factions / endings (Astoria, Litalia, and the Drakons). They all require anti-Shaper reputation, so you can remain consistent to your view in that sense, but maybe you'd be happier casting your support behind a different leader than whichever one you chose.

Which game are we talking about?
-
Eh, it's a lot more complicated than that. You CAN'T use the Geneforge in G2 or G3, because you're a human and those Geneforges were made for drakons. So of the first three games, using the Geneforge is really only an option in G1. Then, in G4, you start out on a totally different side conflict with a different attitude toward Geneforge. There's not really an big contradiction there.

What you "should" do in this case is totally subjective. If you don't care about not be able to take advantage of the various alternative options that Leadership and Mechanics sometimes give and don't mind hard fighting, then don't invest in those skills. You can absolutely finish the game without ever using Leadership and Mechanics. There is always a path that relies on brute force.

The Strategy Central thread is mainly for storing links, not holding discussion, hence the lack of posts there. I would guess, based on the lack of responses to the November 2014 post asking for an editor, that no one has a working a editor, which means you're out of luck. If any of the forum regulars at this point had one, they'd have responded. One thing you might try would be to send a PM to the creators of the missing editors. There's no guarantee they're even still around / will respond, but it can't hurt. Edit: Emperor Tullegolar was perma-banned years ago for major infractions and consequently hasn't been seen in ages; you won't get any help from that quarter. So your only hope would be a PM to Microphage.

Nalyd: "So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you!" *dies* Also, go me for making it as far as I did! Huzzah!
-
Five kills...you're an "ace," Nalyd! Congrats! ...I think? And then you managed to see through my brilliant plan to...get myself killed? It was such a clever plan that even I don't understand the goal! Also LOL at Ephesos's death by tree. That's amazing.
-
First Ephesos and now Trenton! No one will share their fires with me. But now that I have received an explosive from an unknown sponsor (who are these anonymous bomb donors???), maybe I can watch the world burn!
-
Don't laugh. Ephesos is (was?) pretty scary. I bet you'd run away from his fire too if you'd been there!
-
I...am still alive. How quaint.
-
You should demand a recount.

Well, at least no one fought over bags and there were no mass-suicide pacts. So...improvement? We are well on our way to creating an enlightened society.
-
*laughs hysterically* This is fantastic. They fight over bags???

getting into the spiral fortress [spoiler thread]
Triumph replied to midgetdeathtrain's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
Never played A4, but the Annotated Maps (found in the A4 Strategy Central) indicate Rone is in The Castle near the pylon. Given that Rone is pretty much always found in The Castle in the games in which he appears, that seems like a pretty plausible place to look. If he's truly nowhere to be found in the Castle, I might start wondering if you've encountered a bug. -
[spoileralt=teh mapxorz][/spoileralt] I've passed through most of the central / midwestern / southern United States. And Hawaii. I haven't been to the west or the northeast, though. I've also technically visited a fair bit of western Europe. However, I was about one to three years old at the time and thus don't recall much of the experience. Alas. Still, I can say I've been as far east as Berlin and far west as Kauai. (If we're really strict, I've set foot in a few other other states, but only inside of airports, so I don't think they really count.) As far as travel recommendations go...I think you find interesting, beautiful, unique, and/or historical things just about everywhere. To some extent, what will seem "exotic" or exciting could depend one's background and what one is familiar with. But if all places are unique, some are more unique than others. If I were to make just one suggestion, I'd encourage everyone who can to visit Hawaii at some point. It's stunningly beautiful.

First Rescue Medal
Triumph replied to jpjones2's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
Haha. Slarty's comment about Cave Lore was joke, referencing another area in the game where I and a couple other people had gotten stuck do to what we figured out is a CL check in a strange place. He wasn't seriously suggesting you need CL to get the medal, though. Hmm. You played Mac and didn't get the medal. Earlier in this thread, Edgwyn said he was playing on Mac and didn't get the medal. I, too, played on Mac and didn't get the medal. Maybe you're on to something? Is there anyone out there who plays on a Mac and DID get the First Rescue medal? -
Just wanted to say I found the joke quite hilarious. Two thumbs (hooves???) up!
-
That is such a horrible and terrible joke I can't stop laughing.
