I didn't kill "EVERYTHING," in the sense that I didn't wipe out every friendly NPC in all such towns where you can get away with it (though I did kill some...). But that savegame is from the very end of a game after I've killed pretty much every hostile creature in every zone, cleared every zone (Monastery Cavern or whatever it's called included), done every quest. So probably you could find more friendly NPCs to slaughter, and maybe a few locked doors that you could unlock for EXP, but I'm pretty sure you probably couldn't get more than one or two more levels beyond that (since the amount of EXP you get for things declines as you level up, whatever scraps of it are left to get won't be worth much). And as I said, this was a solo agent game, so I wasn't sharing EXP with creations. So, all that is to say I doubt you can get beyond level 41, or if you can, not very far beyond it. A question for the great and knowledgeable Slarty: do you know if different paths through the Geneforge games ever yield different amounts of EXP? For example, do you get the same amount of EXP for the rebel path as for the shaper path in G3, or would one grant more EXP in the end than the other?

BUT...One always can choose to try to do what is right, in some sense, regardless of the bad situation one faces. Even if both Shapers and Rebels are bad guys (and they are in G3), why must I go along with everything they want? After all, there WAS a faction-less path in G1 and G2. It's fine that both factions are bad; that IS realistic...but then I should be given the choice to not go along with them, or to try to change them... I guess my objection with G3 is not that both factions were bad. It would be more precise to say that my objection was that my choices of how react to these bad groups was so restricted.

I would be curious, though, what your character's build is? What are your character type/level/stats and creation stats if you have them?

G3's boat system was really unique...-ly annoying, unlike any other games in the series. I also disliked, relative to the other games (not saying it's bad, mind you) it because it has only two factions to choose from. They both seem like bad factions, and not really all that different from each other. It's a far cry from the faction-flexibility you have in G1, G2, and G5, and even in G4 where you mainly have just two factions, yet there is that third path that if you want. Finally, one criticism I've seen with G3 (not something that bothered me, but apparently affected some people) is that the plot was really not all that different from G1 and G2.

The mechanism on the lever? Huh. You must not have high enough mechanics skill, then. You'd have to raise mechanics. Alternatively, it IS possible, if you have at least 13 Leadership, to talk Tigh Eye out of needing to kill the golem, and to get him to let you pass. I tried looking in the scripts, but can't find any indication that it requires mechanics, or how much it might need, so I can't help there. Anyone else able to determine how much Mechanics is needed to active the Purification Crystal? If you can't talk your way around needing to fight to golem, can't use the pylon, and can't beat the golem, there is still one more way that might work: you can try going around through the Benerii-Eo Vat Core zone, which has a separate entrance to the Geneforge zone. As far as Mechanics and Leadership go, there are items to boost both of them - things like the Infiltrator's Shield (I think that's its name?) and the Tinker's Gloves (I think that's it's name) that might, collectively, give you the leadership or Mechanics boost you need. So don't give up your game yet. You also might need to try different tactics to beat the golem. You can also trying going back to previous zones that you may not have finished exploring, looking for stuff to do, trying to level up more or train more. One last option: lowering the difficulty setting of the game, trying to beat the golem that way, and then, if you want, raising the difficulty setting back.

If I'm not mistaken, you'll need to find a lever or switch that will reactivate the pylon first. Then you must lead the golem to the pylon. While the pylon is active, it will zap nearby creations. I'm pretty sure I remember that this includes your own creations. So you've got to activate the pylon, lead the golem to it, and hang out there close to pylon turn after turn as the pylon zaps the golem to death (while being careful not to get your creations zapped too). All the usual defensive tricks (Protection, Augmentation, Essence Armor or Shield, Steel Skin) plus healing should help to endure while the pylon does the heavy lifting. Of course you can hit the golem too. I hope this helps. Addendum: the lever is in an alcove just west of the pylon itself, and you'll get a pop-up dialogue box letting you know the pylon switched on.

Well, the log was interesting (I was able to spectate the last half of the session, but missed the first part where they found cool stuff and nearly blew up) and definitely sets the stage for some interesting conflict. Does Darusk have character info posted anywhere (stuff like skills and character background)? Interesting suggestion, Sarachim. Even within a syllogism, one can choose to use more or less appealing terminology, but it certainly does strip away many of rhetorical tricks and emotional appeals that clutter many arguments.

Either I'm not understand what you seek to achieve, SoT, or I'm not understanding your reason for it, or both. Argue a position without trying to make it look good? What is arguing a position if not trying to persuade others to accept it (and thus in some sense make it "look good")? If they appreciate a "repugnant position," how is it still repugnant? As for advancing one's own in "gruesome terms," how would that really be "advancing" the argument?

Albany is the capital city of New York. Geography FTW. Oh, and I would guess that in many cases, one city became a state capital well before some other city became a super-mega-colossal metropolis, so it's not like people always deliberately planned to put the state capitals in other unimportant cities.
