I can't see Sharon shaping herself in her old age though. Maybe ... Maybe agent Mouawad from GF4..she was on the council..back when there were 9 council members.

I know it's been posted that the fyora fang charm is dropped by Trahan in the podling crossroads. The problem is I've only ever seen Trahan in Perikalia. He doesn't drop the charm when I slay him there. Is there a way to lure him to the podling crossroads?

For a servile I found between this training and the girdle of victory, shaper robe, black pearl talisman, and tribal fetish I was able to reach level 8 to 9 in all shaping skills without ever investing a single skill point.

I migrated through all factions except Taygen. I started off in Alwan's faction to get the skill training and high level spells. I stayed until I got the purity agent quest, I did nothing in the secret laboratory other than kill everybody. I saved up all the reputation encounters I could throughout the game and then went and offered rebel opinions and did rebellious things. I then joined the Trakovites, Astoria, then Ghaldring to reap as many benefits I could. It worked quite well. Nobody in Terestia trusts me now, but that's life. Also, what is really funny is that even with a rebellious reputation you can still get training from Shaper Marzan, Sage Pavyl, and Guardian Kulish if you're still in Alwan's faction. You can get shaper training and rebel quests at the same time.

infiltrators charm and the room with mines???[G5]
Barzhal replied to Millon's topic in Geneforge Series
Randomizer, that worked like a charm... You're right essence armor reduces more damage than essence infusion boosts your HP. I reduced the damage to 984 at best. However, I did not survive two mine blasts. After about 20 tries, in battle mode, I was able to disarm one of the mines. I think I went into battle mode, closed the door, hit the space bar, opened the door, then clicked on the right mine. Anyways, thanks. -
infiltrators charm and the room with mines???[G5]

I've been trying today, but with no luck. I got my HP to 1018 with the burnt greaves, symbiotic cloak, forbidden band, and girdle of endurance (unequipped gruesome charm). Elemental aura helps and so does battle roar actually. Between the two mines I was able to reduce the damage to 1280 at best. I still have yet to do the Dera Reaches and I'm level 46 so I'm hoping to get in there still. I was unable to disarm one of the mines as Randomizer did. Was there a trick to disarming one? -
infiltrators charm and the room with mines???[G5]
Barzhal replied to Millon's topic in Geneforge Series
My last play-through I was able to reduce the damage from the mines to a little less than 1300 with elemental aura. I haven't gotten there yet with my servile on my second play-through, but here's what I'm going to try: Equip every endurance boosting item available (i.e. symbiotic cloak, girdle of life...any others?), drop your gruesome charm, use essence infusion and elemental cloak (both can be cast together) and ... any other boosts anyone can think of? Let me know what happens, it will be a few days before I get there. -
It is hard to rank them because each offers a different "best" aspect. G1 has a great story, G2 offers great flexibility to choose, G3 develops the plot of the war and the characters that come to lead it, G4 has an improved interface, and G5 has it all. So I would say: G5-G2-G1-G4-G3 G5 really has the best of all of the games. G1 and G2 are close so I would really say they're tied.

OK, cool thanks. That makes sense since I found one on my pro-shaper first play-through. I've been saving my opinion options on this play-through to reap the shaper benefits, but I plan to switch at some point. I'll still consider getting the tunic though.
-
Where is (are) the thahd skin tunic(s)? Is it a drop that only occurs rarely as in GF4? Are there any other items that drop only sometimes? Thanks!

It not only depends on difficulty, but how through you want to be in playing bonus or challenge levels, clearing every area, looking in the nooks and crannies, etc. For GF1, the takers are the quickest to the end IMO only because you’ll get the taker amulet to pass the Shaoli. GF2 may take longer depending on you play style, but you’ll get no easy way to bypass entire boards as you will in GF1 (unless you go through taker lands and then join the barzites and then it’s really a non-issue). I usually stay unaligned until I go through the majority of taker lands before joining the barzites (to empty the gold from shops). GF3 will probably be faster if you don’t take up a part time job as a pick and shovel salesman. Carting your goods between islands can be tedious. There is a lot of training to buy though. GF4 usually goes fastest for me, especially for pro-shapers. Even as a pro-shaper, turning on the infiltrators to reap the benefits (at no cost) takes very little time. GF4 really has reduced “nooks and crannies” compared to GF1 and GF2 also and most goods start to take on a 0 value. These aspects for me save a lot of time. GF5 – well my first play through went fast, but I played non-stop. I still need to play 2-3 more times to really know it well. In summary at 4-6 hours a day, plan maybe 2-3 weeks. Just an estimate, but it does depend. My advice: read, think about the plot and your play style, enjoy, and have fun.

I have yet to read this recipe posted for the mental focus charm: Glaahk eye + demon bile + lightning gem + rotghroth fang = mental focus charm From GF3 and GF4 but replace the madness gem with lightning gem Hope it helps if it hasn't been found already.
-
Desmarestia, you know it's funny, I never found that recipe. In fact, I played my first playthrough without reading any help. I just played around and tried it. I'll post in the main forum and see if anybody else has found it.

She will normally confront you on the whitespire pass if you turned her in to Rawal. Did the message say something like she came out of the bushes or was it the normal dialog as if she were in your party?
-
We do know that mental focus charms can be made right? Just like in previous games, but substitute a lightning gem for the madness gem: Rotghroth fang, demon bile, glaahk eye, and lightning gem combined on the forge.

Kill three rounds of bugs that come out of the pools (daze works wonders here). After you will be able to harm the servant mind. Burning spray will do ~60 damage per round to it in addition to other attacks. You should be able to bring it down in 5-6 rounds.
-
OK, cool. So it's just like Geneforge 2 where I can save my conversation reputation points for later and reap the benefits of a faction without full committal? Only the takers held a grudge before, I suppose nothing has changed. Even the barzites don't become immediately hostile just by leaving. I'm pretty excited to try it now. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked or addressed before, but what is the "cost" for leaving a faction? My thoughts are to play with a slightly pro-shaper reputation just so I can join Alwan and get training in shaping skills. Later I plan to switch sides and join another faction. What is the cost and is it worth it?
-
Dear Jeff Vogel, I just finished Geneforge 5 (Alwan's faction). Thank you for a truly outstanding game and Geneforge series in general. Although I know I'd love to play another in the Geneforge series, you ended it very well. I look forward to new Spiderweb games in the future.
-
Indeed, it's Geneforge 5. May I purchase it at this time?
-
Twas not sarcasm. Perhaps I would have been equally confusing if I had written thanks personne...

Worked like a charm nobody. Thanks a bunch!

I too just completed Embers of Rebellion, however, my bug is that after getting off the boat all my characters are in the "laying down" graphic state. They then stay that way as I walk around. I've completed the scenario, I get my 1500c, but my characters stay laying down even into the next scenario. I'm not sure if this has been reported before or perhaps I have an old version. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I'm not sure if these "bugs" of G3 have been posted before but I've found the following Pro-shaper: Just before you talk to Macallan to complete her quest (in stonespire) close the door to her hut. Talk to her and inform her you've completed her quest and you'll get experience for completing the quest. She will try to leave, but can't because you've shut the door. You can keep talking to her and keep getting experience for completing the quest (until at least level 44 I believe). Pro-rebel: You can attack Alwan at the school in the beginning, he's not hard and you get experience for killing him (be aware, you will make the entire school hostile forever). Don't exit the school, but rather go back downstairs, come back up and you can kill Alwan again. You can repeat the process until...well I'm not sure, I got tired of killing him after a while. You get experience each time.
