  1. The blade in Rahul's bedroom is the guardian claymore. The oozing blade is given to you by Shaper Danell (in the inner keep) for returning the golem notes.
  2. I seem to remember that when first meeting Mouawad the description is something along the lines of "Her hair has streaks of gray...she is a member of the council...this is one of the most influential people in Terestia..." I would like to go back and read it, but it will probably be a while before I play GF4 again.
  3. Agreed, the non-linear game play is a huge reason I love all of Jeff's games. For example, in A2 after emerging from Vahnatai lands you can start tackling almost any part of Avernum. You can go to the castle, clear out the spiral crypt, or head north and check out the destruction of Cotra. The option to choose I would say is the number one reason. The second reason would be open ended character development. You can make your party as you choose and develop them how you see fit. In addition, in A3 and A5 you can join the anama (or deal with Gladwell in A5). I find these additional, non-plot critical, options extremely attractive. The subtle things in A3 are great too - fake anama rings are especially inventive. I believe the combination of these two things, and others I have not listed, make the Avernum series one of the most inventive series of games out there. I am still partial to the Geneforge series, but the Avernum series is still fantastic.
  4. I agree Dikiyoba that, at first, it is ambiguous because she states she's sent from the council. In conversation, however, ask her "what is the council like?" She replies "there are 9 of us..." I interpret that as she is on the council.
  5. Mouawad - from GF4 - she was on the council
  6. I could be wrong about this, but - did you get the evidence from a cabinet in fort dolthar to give to the council? I believe you need this evidence first, but I could be mixing up my evidence prerequisites.
  7. 1. It depends on your character build, but in general - yes 2. No I recommend crafting only the artifacts your build needs and using the rest of the demon bile available in the game to craft mental focus charms (if playing as a magic user).
  8. It is possible to receive training twice in all skills available if you don't invest any points into them before training. You must join Alwan's faction to get training in shaping skills though. You should have plenty of money to buy all this training and two levels of each spell and creation. You may have to be patient though because, as Randomizer stated, if you're a warrior it's not easy to hold off on investing in melee skills until you can purchase them from Rawal's female guardian. I did it on a servile play-through and it was tough. It's easier for a sorceress to hold off until Mera to purchase magic training.
  9. Does the shadow leather in a2 (or others in the series) have any special properties? It doesn't seem that good to have to wait until you have unlock doors 3 before you can get it. Thanks for any information.
  10. That's really cool! I never thought to use pyroroamers like that. You can selectively kill off friendly characters without consequences. I thought they were useless, but now I'm impressed.
  11. You get a good deal of experience for feeding control four. Feeding the mind at the eastern docks is probably the best mind to skip as he distracts the shaoli who, by the end, are not difficult (or hostile if you helped Trajkov).
  12. Nope. Wait until you are at a higher level and then you can search the body by walking through the pylons. I believe there's a steel spine and a couple of other non-noteworthy items on the body.
  13. No, I too did not mind the old system. My shaper could wear anything with absolutely no investment in strength. Now you actually have to invest in strength for all classes.

I still don't see the connection. Usually that's what analogies attempt to do, make a connection or establish similarities.
  15. And you could argue that Nazi rule wasn't bad... for non-Jewish Germans. And yes, I'd argue that the analogy is highly relevant, given that certain segments of Shaper society (ie. Drayks) were targeted for genocide. Highly relevant? Are you comparing Jews to Drakes and saying they are similar? I find your analogy absurd.
  16. Least amount of destruction: Servant mind Tro (dock ruins GF1) Most destruction: Me

Just make sure that if you want to use his mega-shaper boosting reputation option that you do it before you go killing the turrets.
  18. Dexterity doesn't influence chance to hit for spells. Only investing in battle magic and/or mental magic and spellcraft will improve your chance to hit.
  19. You may want to add the following. Trakovite Lair: Litalia - Control core B - destroy the minds Litalia - The purity agent - destroy Taygen's work Litalia - Go to the council North storm plains: Help Giselle clear the room in the inn Gazaki-Uss: Mehken - Lethia Pass Sakkash - Find trakovite lair Sakkash - Kill Litalia Ghaldring - Break the line Ghaldring - Find tholoss Ghaldring - Kill the 4 council members Zephyr Oasis: Taygen - Get orb in secret lab Taygen - Get ingredient in Dera vault Taygen - Complete the purity agent Taygen - Go to the council Sorry if I missed any or listed a redundant quest.
  20. Perhaps this is a bug, but I have never gotten puresteel at the purity workshop. I assume it's supposed to be in the blue box in the little room just northwest of Platano. Every time I check the chest, even for the first time, I get a message saying the box is still empty.
  21. The east entrance is split up into two separate parts. The top part represents the "northern entrance" and the bottom part represents the "southern entrance." The layout is done differently, but not entirely inconsistent. You can, therefore, travel from the northern section of the map to the southern section and vice versa via the east ward.
  22. Outside Gazaki-Uss you can steal all of the stuff from Ukri and although he's right there you get the message "you stole the item without anyone seeing you." During the assult on Gazaki-Uss I decided to steal the stuff near Elik (where he used to be) during the battle and the Shaper army became hostile.
  23. Same happens to me. I can't really give you a good answer, but the higher experience will continue now for another 6-7 levels.
  24. I found it. A guardian drops it in the assault on Kayar's spire (Tagen faction only).
