I mean, you don't need a huge amount but you can't afford to ignore it. It's not wrong, it's a matter of preference. I've never relied on mental magic primarily because you don't get experience when charmed creations kill enemies. While I may have to reload a few more times than if I had used mental magic, I've never regretted it.
  2. Is A6 similar to A5 in that you must fulfil the criteria for quests after you receive the quest? In other words can you miss out on quests by doing the quest without officially receiving it in the quest log? Thanks.

To which store owner(s) are you referring? I don't remember any in the Geneforge series that wouldn't sell to me because of stealing or unlocking doors in their shop. I would guess the owner(s) in question wouldn't deal with you because you were a part of or sympathized with an opposing faction. I could be remembering incorrectly though.
  4. C'est le meilleur jeu de la maison. Les autres sont magnifiques également.
  5. I was able to get to level 54 and the level displayed under the status was 54. I'm not sure what's going on with your display being stuck at 45.
  6. I say yes. I started with Avernum 5 and worked backwards (sort of). Although I was unfamiliar with the story, I still enjoyed it.
  7. Item descriptions are available in all games by right clicking on the item. Perhaps it's different in A6 as I haven't played it yet.
  8. Yes, sorry I didn't comment on your question. I think your list above is fine from what I can tell. I never got the mithril blade because I killed the Empire soldiers that didn't like my nephil. Unfortunately it made Lennus hostile and I couldn't complete the quest.
  9. That is true about petrification, however, I prefer the 100% chance of reload upon petrification remedy. I can't justify the sacrifice of a better bonus when there's the easy alternative.
  10. I recommend magic shaping and enough essence for four terror vlish. A pack of four terror vlish will make the shaper crypt and everything else quite easy.
  11. Sadly I could find no emulators that were sufficient to play Geneforge 5 when it came out for Mac last year. If someone knows of one I would love to know too.
  12. You have to get the key from defeating Titus (actually Titus' summoned monsters) in the Circle Warrens.
  13. You can indeed kill platano and then join Taygen's faction. Just make sure you do the "aid platano" quest by killing the serviles and inform Taygen prior to killing platano.
  14. I agree with Sade. You can take Gladwell's stat bonus and receive all of Melanchion's rewards. You only need to acquire Gladwell's items to avoid becoming cursed, you don't need to actually give the items to him. You can also remove the geas later in the game if you want by killing Gladwell and breaking the crystal in the basement. It amounts to "borrowing" skill points when you need them - early in the game.
  15. Your suspicions are indeed correct. There are several mages that you meet that will not train you if you wear fake anama rings. However, the numerous options that open up to you with the rings (i.e. the amount of quests you can complete, knowledge brews you can buy, and access to anama areas) make it worth the price. Besides, the mage spells can be learned elsewhere and are still available from somebody else that doesn't hate the anama.
  16. A few words of caution: Don't do anything with the shredbugs in the lab until requested to do so by Litalia. You can complete Alwan's quest by just destroying the Drakon there (if you plan on joining Alwan). Don't ever kill any members of the council or make Haria-Kel or Stormhold hostile after joining the trakovites. Don't kill Litalia for Saakash (pretty obvious), but you can report the location of the trakovite base to him and agent Micheline without a problem.
  17. You can complete the trakovite quests even after leaving Alwan's and/or Astoria's faction. It seems Jeff fixed or updated the situations such that the conversation options to talk to them about the incidents are available. I always would recommend milking other factions for all they're worth.
  18. I believe it to be likely the same character since Gladwell states in A5 he's from the Abyss and performed his weird ingestion of creature parts there. Sounds consistent with the "Don't burn daddy" request to the slimes he's playing with in A4 - in the Abyss.
  19. It depends on what you mean by strict loyalist. If you mean you will never have a rebellious reputation then, no, you can't get both sets of crystalline fibers as you can't get the "break the line" quest from either Ghaldring or Astoria. You've eliminated the possibility of helping Dominic so Astoria won't give you the quest so only Ghaldring is a possibility now. If you don't mind getting your reputation into the rebellious range then you still can get the set of fibers in the secret access route. If not, forge ahead without them. PS - you can change your reputation after you join a faction and get both reputation dependant quests and faction dependant quests.
  20. You don't have to fight the roamers. Keep alternating between clicking on the two power controls and the two levers (one of which jams the door to the roamers). You should be able to get out of that room without taking a single point of damage (if your mechanics are high enough). Come back and fight the roamers at your convenience by using the back door near where you fight Makar. Recruit the golems for additional help in the Makar fight. Yes, poison is rough in GF5.
  21. Agreed Alorael, but unfortunately killing each band of the Divine Lucre in northern Valorim decreases your reputation by 1. They deserve to be killed though, they're extortionists. Besides they won't let you join if you have fake Anama rings, and I love fake Anama rings.
  22. The damage is done, kill and loot at your convenience. I doubt it will have an impact on you reputation. You've been consistently rebel throughout, so even if it did I'm sure Litalia and Akhari Blaze will welcome you at the geneforge.
  23. You opened some drayk vats in the spire forest that Khossos told you not to open. If you don't have a backup save, don't worry, you're not missing much.
  24. In the demo area: You can clear the pacification fields a second time. In the east foundry - fight the enemies in both mine traps and the traps sprung by not disarming the crystal spires (you get lots more experience and some items). In the foundry core - tame the turrets, then kill them. Do both options for all three tests in the testing area and be sure the kill the roamers that are part of the stealth test. If you do the above and follow other experience optimizing practices, you should be about level 19 when you leave the demo area.
  25. Try to join by letting Tholmen go when you meet him in the howling depths. If you respond to him that you want to join the darkside loyalists you should see a message pop up after smacking him around a bit that says something about if you were serious about joining, letting him go would be a good idea. Do so. Save Solberg's papers and give them to Melanchion, not Ruth. The reward is much better. Steal Melanchion's egg and give it to Solberg (reason to let him live) for the robe of the magi.
