No actually it's really an easy area that I was just too slow to find. It's really funny, the pile of rocks doesn't completely block the eastern passage out of the underground from the tannery. I knew it was something easy I overlooked, I frequently miss the easiest things in Jeff's games.

A6 - The Dark Spiral - Run or fight?
Barzhal replied to ironfistchamp's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
If I recall correctly, lightning spray worked very well, but not targeted at the chaos wight, but targeted at the spawned undead near him (seemed to hit him all the time). -
I do remember, thanks dikiyoba

There is an area south of the major fang clan fort (the chief drops the avenger's ring) where approaching from the east there's a ledge up, but just directly to the north the ledge is down. I'm wondering how to gain access to this area. I'm thinking I missed something simple. Thanks for any help.

A6 - The Dark Spiral - Run or fight?
Barzhal replied to ironfistchamp's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
I recommend fight, especially since you'll only have one chance to fight the chaos wight at the end and he drops the helm of khar. If you can't get through fighting, come back later...like many fights you'll encounter in A6. -
Would I be wrong in stating no first aid bonus after battle = no experience gained either? I've noticed several times that this was the case, but I'm not sure if it's true.

A6 - 30 GP for my flawless crystal?

There's no difference between turning in ten crystals one-by-one and turning in ten crystals all at once. While it seemed true with Asta that it doesn't matter whether you give them one by one or all together, it is definitely not true with Edmund when you give him bags of meal. I found that you get a scroll of return life after 5 individual bags, but that he'll give you a wisdom crystal only after giving him ~20 bags all at the same time. I tried giving him ~40 individual bags and he didn't give me the wisdom crystal. So, although I got Asta's rewards turning the crystals in individually, there may be a difference, I'm not sure. -
I'd say pick the infiltrator. Mental magic will be cheap and combat skills not so bad. Buy shaping skills from Shaper Marzan (have to join Alwan, but leave if not your preferred choice) and with using items you can get your shaping skills to 8-9 with no investment at all. Remember to craft those mental focus charms with the infiltrator too.

I just killed Wilkie and took his key to the mine. I haven't noticed any negative consequences. It was preferable to paying 500c.

I am having the problem with the reversed peace and combat symbols and I am running Windows Vista. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but perhaps I should e-mail Jeff?

Characters Surviving from A1 Through A6 (Spoilers)

The legacy of cheeseball seems to survive. Granted, the cat doesn't make it, but his name does (ten times at least). -
Geologicle changes of Avernum from 1-6
Barzhal replied to Firecage's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
I don't favor any more avernum remakes. A1-3 are already remade. Now I admit, Jeff's games are great for replay value, but common, wouldn't you rather play a new and fresh game from Jeff? I favor new game development rather than playing A1-3 yet a third time around just to get a new engine and maybe another dungeon or two. -
I don't think it's a bug, I've always robbed that guy of everything without consequences. Now - Ukri in "outside gazaki-uss" you can rob silly without consequences, but that's a bug. You get the "you stole the item without anyone seeing you" message when he's clearly in view.

The windows version of A6 seems to be available. Link is below.

You can get unlimited money in G2 by repeatedly selling the awakened information to Barzahl. Just keep going to that room behind Learned Pinner to get the awakened information again after you've sold it already to Barzahl then sell it to him again. I suppose you could do the same with Syros, but not for direct cash.

Did the mods delete your post about unstable creations? While I may have disagreed with you, I of course meant nothing personal. I wonder why they deleted the post.

In fact I have. I enjoy their three times fire attack when hasted. And ... they die and I recreate for the next difficult battle. I'm not sure what the problem is here.

I have neither noticed nor do I consider such trivial matters an impediment to enjoying the game.

Although I'm not convinced I fully understand the points you are trying to make, what you propose doesn't fit with the "essence" of the geneforge series of games. I too am a non-native speaker of English and I'm sure I make my share of mistakes, however, I have access to a spell checker and I would highly recommend you use one as well. I think it would help make your points clearly.

It's not just the rat that has horrible accuracy in G2. Pretty much everything has horrible accuracy until later in the game at later levels. I apologize though, I'm not sure how to change the game files according to your wishes.

Ty doesn't just give you the token after you kill Twini. Ty tells you to search the complex gates for the token and then you can obtain it by walking around below the west gate of the complex (where you originally get a message about the stones).

I finally got the roamertooth band to drop on my fifth reload of the area. It's funny that I got it the first four times without a problem. I guess although in game luck doesn't affect the drop, my luck was pretty good prior to this play-through. Thanks for the replies.

Hello, I'm on my fifth play-through of GF2 and I'm having some trouble getting a roamertooth band. Here is some background: On my previous four play-throughs I successfully obtained a roamertooth band from the complex gates (without reloading). I have played through the entire complex gates area (before having stepped foot into the area) three times on my fifth play-through and have not obtained a roamertooth band. I have read that luck plays a role in the drop of this item. My luck has always been at 3 when I enter the area on all five play-throughs (I invest 2 and 1 from a luck charm). Can anybody tell me what exactly determines the drop of this item? Can I still obtain it with reloading the area? Thanks for your feedback.

Also the thing about kills from charmed creations not giving you XP isn't actually true any more, you'll usually get experience as long as you've attacked the enemy personally or with one of your own creations at least once. And it's really not just a matter of "reloading a few more times"; mental magic allows strategies that are simply impossible without it. Try winning a straight-up fight with the Pairbond Constructs in the challenge area without mental magic. Yes, daze can be nice, but I don't use it. While I don't deny mental magic gives a set of viable strategies, it is not the only set of viable strategies. I have beat the pairbound constructs and the entire challenge area four times (twice on torment) without mental magic (and without cheating).
