  1. No way to get into fort emerald or the scree caves? That's a pity... I was hoping that I could visit the old crypt of drath area. On a related note, I assume that there's a challenge area, as there has been in all the recent games… where is it though? Anyone want to help out with that?
  2. I too adore these games. A6 is by far the best of the new Avernum games (I liked A1 myself, but then that could be nostalgia on my part... nostalgia and a love of exploration and dungeons with very little point.) Unlike the OP though, I've been playing spiderweb games since… I was nine, I think. So 1996. Wow. Got the demo of Exile 1 with the original graphics and played it on and off for years. Anyway, yeah. If you can afford it, convert to Mac, and just use bootcamp for the windows side of things. Best of both worlds if you have the cash and the patience.
  3. I had a hard time choosing between Ghaldring and Taygen for least ethical. Both are pretty monstrous. I chose Taygen more for the attrocities of the camps then for the purity agent, since Ghaldring is at least as genocidal. For most ethical I went with Astoria, since she's trying to do the best thing. Her means aren't always upright, but she's still certainly better than her contemporaries. Both ends and means are important, but Alwan's ends are worse than her's I think. I'm confused about the idea that the Trakovites are the most moral. Litalia has pretty much forced them off that high horse with her whole "ends justify the means" dealie.
  4. GF5, followed by GF1. GF1 felt like it had more rewards for exploration aside from loot or artifacts, which never really appeal to me in spiderweb games. GF5 is just amazingly done. GF2 and GF4 were ok, but 2 felt like it was just GF1 redux (now with more factions) and GF4 felt constrained oddly. GF3 had good endings but getting there was torturous.
  5. It notes that you'd probably traveled a long way. So you could just have been coincidentally wandering by that area. Edit: Doh. Accidentally responded to an earlier post without realizing the thread went to page two. Sorry about that.

  7. The easiest way to figure out what number correspond to which skills and stats is by looking at items you have in the items section of gf5itemschars.txt. The items are named there. I think there's some stuff on the GF4 forum that lists all this info.
  8. It's also not too hard to puzzle out after playing the game a little. I'd never looked at AvernumScript in my life, and I was able to change the geneforge in GF5 to have the same effect as the Geneforge in GF1.
  9. I didn't have to talk to alpha. I just talked it out of Synthesis.
  10. On gamefaqs for GF1, it says dbugkill was posted by drakefyre- it's listed seperate from the others. Maybe that's the leak?
  11. Remarkably- and thankfully- just because it shows up on the internet does not make it true.
  12. I'm in the camp who thinks it can be anyone you want it to be, so long as they horribly abused reshaping themselves. There's someone in the prison in Alwan's fortress who (if you convince the jailor to release him) will tell you about how he saw you on the road to the foundry. You were pretty crazy prior to the start of the game. Hm... I should play through all five games a canister addict.
  13. Oh, excellent. That will save me a lot of time.
  14. I'm working on compiling (via extensive cheating) all the endings I can find. I'll transcribe them and post them once I'm done. I've got two Astorian Endings, a rebel ending, the Rawal ending and the unaligned "ending." I'm working on Trakovites now. Anyone got a better idea of how many ending variations per faction there are?
  15. New drakon pictures... the worm pictures are from A5 I think. I didn't notice much else, but I've never paid much mind to graphics. That's why I started playing Exile in the first place.
  16. Yeah, I think my like of Drayks comes from the good old days, stomping around Sucia island with my seven cryodrayks.
  17. Which would be no fun at all. I myself like to make the G4 and G5 geneforges have the same effects as the G1 geneforge.
  18. You need to do the quests for Astoria if you haven't already. The Kratoa-Kel won't let you through until you've done the last step on the quests surounding the attempt on her life.
  19. You can talk your way past, yes, if you have high enough leadership. That involves mind games. Just saying "Yeah, drakons are better than humans. Whatever." means that Ghaldring hates you, no?
  20. If you leave the area and come back, there's a replacement captain. You can't get in until the end game, of course, but there will be someone there to let you in. The exact same thing happened to me.
  21. I kind of assumed she's insane. Or that there are multiple timelines and continuities in play. In G5 she's the alternate universe version of Litalia. And she's Bizarro Litalia in a G4 (which is why she smiles all the time). Pink Kryptonite may figure into this somewhere. Continuity issues aside, I liked her evolution from inhuman and almost monsterous in some ways in G3 to her attempts at regaining humanity in G4 and her new beliefs in G5.
  22. Check the servile villages carefully. Each one has an access point.
  23. Eh, I never remember dreams. I do, however, immediately recall the Nephilim fortress in A1 whenever I hear the song "This Cat's on a Hot Tin Roof" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra... Stray Cat Strut leads to Geneforge 1 though.
