Hm, yes. Geneforge (why, even Avadon) would have gone really viral if you could make and play custom scenarios too. But as for what exactly was the major discouraging factor which prevented its coming into existence...we'll never know, I suppose (surely the idea must have flitted past the minds of Jeff and team, at least once).
but Geneforge multiplayer...AARGH...don't let's start on that again.

What a coincidence; i was just playing this scenario and came over here to post a few queries.
Anyway,
There is a small glitch in the graphics (version 1.0.7 Windows). In the outdoors view, the middle city section has four (absent) shields surrounding it. Should we replace a graphics file with a custom one, or something like that?
Similar but small problems inside some of the shops too.

I think so too, but I want to grab at point 4 anyway.

Combat in all SW games is round-based, nothing we can do about that. But ordinary wandering around happens in real time (in Avadon), so there's a bright point for you.

If there was on option to choose, I would gladly have taken the middle SW era; which were apparently full of fights, bans, TM's, ET's, chats, rites and memes. Nothing ever happens now.
Oh and 'Dikiyoba's Episodes' seems to be down. Is there an alternate website where we can read Dikiyoba's stories?

Well surely you can do better than that.
I love playing anyway (I had just paused the game, you understand) but I doubt Monster will be coming in anytime soon. And Trenton, you have only one quest left. So I'll be the only player when you finish (unless, were you thinking of a replay) so is MMXPERT okay with that ?
Last Resort :
YOO HOO members of the boards !!! Join us in a bit of textual roleplaying (We need more members)!
Previous experience with Geneforge is a requirement.
Anyone interested, do post.

I only just noticed that the Avadon's forum page had an "annotated maps" link. I think you should consider making it more visible, like maybe by adding a small description or increasing the font size. I'm sure it's not just me, people will skip over that part thinking it to contain only the "Avadon" title. -
A small scenario with a simple mission. Easy to play too.
Some of the interiors are done well (I liked the city), but there isn't enough substance to justify the scenario size. Most of the outdoors are just plain wandering - a few descriptions or wandering monsters would have been nice.
The conversations are good (some of them are very amusing) and without typos. But it would have been better if they were more descriptive. And there's a tiny flaw in implementing the dialogue system : there isn't any text to show when you talk to a character for the second time (not that it matters, just pointed it out). Also, the way the story flows doesn't make much sense, it needs a bit more of finishing touches.
What I liked most was you can talk to almost anybody in the scenario. Most of them don't say much, but they all have a unique name, and you don't get any of the regular 'It doesn't respond's or some similar static message. This is a definite plus.
Judging by the notes included alongside (in the folder of the Windows version), this scenario wasn't all that it should have been, and MHaensel hasn't utilised his full potential. Its as if he lost interest halfway through as he didn't implement all of his ideas. Even the conversations weren't fully inserted. That said, the notes were better than the scenario itself, and I would be happy to try out any of his future works.
Overall, this isn't the greatest of scenarios, but then I don't regret playing it. And as for the rating, hm I'll give it a [rating]Substandard[/rating].

Do you get a house to live in later on in the game?

Trenton's good at getting out of tight spots.
(sorry for butting in, but I couldn't help laughing.) -
I'm sorry, but I didn't quite understand what you meant by 'blinking'.
And did you mean that Nathalie stops fighting and goes away?
Edit : Hm, still clueless. Perhaps somebody else can help.
-
But why did you strike out the part about choosing where to appear on a map?
I had considered that a valid point, especially if it's a large map and you have to walk all the way to the place you want to go to.

The introduction is good, rousing interest in the story. The story itself is quite simple and without dialogues, as the player eventually discovers, but the little amount of text it does contain is neat and very well written.
Not being able to open many of the doors (they remain stubbornly closed) and being presented with a constant can’t-enter message instead was slightly annoying (a random message would have added some variety). So also is the area where you must trial-and-error your way into one of several rooms. At least, I didn’t find any indication of the correct room number, if there is indeed one.
The journals are interesting (and so is the treasure hunt to find them), and I liked the idea of using mundane, everyday items to dispose of the magical entities. The lack of combat evokes suspense (it’s expected in most scenarios) and makes it unique; there aren’t any of the typical rats and spiders lurking in the corners, which is good and makes me like it all the more (and having the same difficulty irrespective of your party level doesn’t hurt either).
Considering everything, the scenario is good enough to make the few negative points unimportant. Anyway, I really enjoyed it.
[rating]GOOD[/rating]

What is all this about ?

Thanks, I got into the basement (how could I have missed that entrance?!) and rescued the family too.
The scenario was good, I enjoyed playing it.

Aha! Now this is a feature that has only been there in the Geneforge's. You could right-click on any character and see its remaining and maximum health (as a number). The healthier a character, the deadlier will it be. In fact I was surprised that Avadon didn't have it, seeing that it is equally mouse-reliant. -
I'm playing the mystery manor with a newly made party.
I've got two journals, the second of which told me there's a third one in the basement (along with a vortex). But I can't find any way into the basement. I went upstairs too, but didn't find anything though I scanned almost every wall for hidden passages. I haven't seen any of the vortexes so far.
I did find some locked doors, but I can't unlock or bash them as I have a fresh party (I was thinking, as this is a puzzle scenario which has no combat, my party level wouldn't matter).
Where is the basement? Where is the first vortex ? Should I have brought in a better party?

Partly, though not an offensive one. Its the unofficial forum welcome, given to all new members in reply to their first posts.
The origin of this custom dates back to the old forums and is shrouded in mystery (but then, I'm relatively a newbie myself, so I wouldn't know). -

The folder you're referring to just contains the shortcuts of the game and not any actual game data (try disabling start menu shortcuts in the installer, if there's such an option).
If these suggestions weren't enough, tell us which drive & folder you were trying to install to.

I'm no fan of the new tree system. Too few options and way too complex (but then, Geneforge seems to have become my benchmark).
I remember one of Jeff's blogs, he had said that he didn't want players to create a party which would get stuck in the middle of the game (since this had happened in Avernum), which I suppose is why he decided to 'even' out the skills. So that even if you are a newcomer who takes all the wrong choices, you'd still be able to play it. No idea about Aeftp, though.

Starting out 'fresh', what do you mean? If you meant that you are always newly recruited, then I'm sure it will always be like that, and you have to work your way up. As far as I can see, the difficulty is more or less a constant (as you level up, so do the bad guys) and if not it only gets more challenging as you progress, with a nicer choice of skills and weapons.
I don't think we can be anything but hands.
Its an adventure game after all, and the kind of work the eyes and hearts do is too static.

*his* left arm; she got a sex change. But I don't get why you'd want to play like that either. -

@Slarty (Slartucker?)
I just saw you've got a whole lot of comics based on some members here, and TM figures nicely in many of them !!! In fact, I didn't know you were of such a jovial type; you always seemed to be very serious and all!!! As for the comics, they are really very good and it's nice to see the mods all cartooned-up (why have you stopped ?). In fact, after seeing those comics I'm not afraid of any mod any longer!!!

We don't have snow over here, but Summer's just gone by and I'm eagerly awaiting the showers which come after. The climate is nice and cool.
I live in the east. Hm, there don't seem to be many easterners in the boards.
