I am having trouble getting into Dragon Gate. I have the boats and have been to the north entrance via boat twice. I can get in the door but I cannot move the wheel - it says it is jammed. Is there a secret door or another entrance I am missing?

I am sure I am missing something really obvious but I cannot find the secret entrance to Farrar's Keep - the quest you get on the noticeboard in Spire from Mother Twymon. I have been down every tunnel I can find and found the abandoned farm that leads to the Bargha prison and cleared that out but every tunnel seems to be closed by a gate that I can't get through. What am i missing?
