  1. would like to see a return of mind duel too.
  2. "is Jeff seriously going to update Avernum I-III before releasing VI? I've tried the older games, but I can't stand the interface. I feel left out! I would love to play through the original trilogy with the new engine." So would I I prefer the newer game engine. "i miss mindduel...." That used to be my favorite spell. Hoping to see it again one day.
  3. i've noticed that in avernum 1-3 you can give yourself up to 90% exp penalty. the effect seems to be you need almost double the exp of a human with no traits to level. but i'm guessing you will get more exp due to being lower level for kills does this even out in the same way as 4-5 where you will only be 3-4 levels lower than if you didnt have traits+slith?
  4. thanks a lot for the replies would you say that "3. Bows will rarely give you the damage output of, say, spears, but you can do respectable amounts. You can also shoot from a distance and you're much less likely to be parried, and you can't get a riposte. You'll definitely want an archer or two, and it's possible to make an effective archer-only fighter." and "Regarding #1, remember also that experience earned scales with your level. Even a 45% experience penalty only translates to being about 3 levels behind for most of the game" are true for avernum 1-5 + nethergate even if one was to go as many experience penalties as possible with slith + expensive traits
  5. Divinely Touched: "Your skills in battle, both melee and magic are more effective" "You also take less damage" Elite warrior: "Combat skills both offensive and defensive are more effective" 1) Are the above bonuses limited to just giving you a point or two in parry/blademaster/magery/sharpshooter? If so, why would anyone choose them with the -45% exp penalty when one could just train the above skills Divine aid/call spirit/regenerate/beserk don't seem to be given like they are in A3 2) Do buffs stack. For example do multiple attack/defensive blessings increase their effectiveness, or using one of them then using a scroll that does the same thing. 3) Is an archer character worth making in terms of damage in any of the avernum games? I remember in the earlier ones they didn't do very well compared to melee. 4) Is there a damage cap?
  6. i did feel celts were were both more powerful and more interesting. melee fighters are just so mechanical. battle disciplines in A5 were a good step to make melee more interesting, even if quite a few of them were not very useful.
  7. 1)I agree. Personally I like to make the most of my character, but dislike having to check all the guides to see which trainers exist to make sure i don't waste skill points because you cant buy certain skills if you train in them first. 2)would also like to see atonomy work on bows and other throwing weapons(I feel they are neglected) 3)and would like to be able to take 2 positive character traits and one negative. 4)would like to see more unique items % chance for some weird special effect on hit makes items feel more unique and interesting. (including bows, and throwing weapons) 15% chance to fear on hit or a chance to be confused or a chance to charm, or something. or some amulet or ring that gives a chance for something you kill to come back as an undead on your side. unique items with unique effects that require clearing puzzles or dungeons or something for the player to earn. Or for example you may hunt down some super powerful mage and you get access to a unique spell from one of his books that cant be found anywhere else 5)battle disciplines I did like the addition of battle disciplines in A5 but I feel some of them are not very useful. And it would be nice for a few secret ones to be hidden somewhere to be learned from a book or something, or maybe even you have access to a special one if you have equipped a certain unique item. 6) I felt some special skills were very hard to reach and you couldn't really invest much into them first time around be cause you didnt know to save points for them until it was too late.
