I know you are getting the bundle but straight up you don't need to play any in order to get in the game. I started on Avernum 3 and it is definitely worth the value with extensive game play, cool fights (just you wait...I am giving no spoilers) and the same ol' avernum story. I recommend playing 3 since you already like it. Its the best

Yup Geneforge is an incredible game, my little brother prefers playing it over Avernum even though Avernum is my personal favorite over the two series

Am I the only Shaper supporter here XD? Since I first started Avernum I thought that the Shapers were a awesome group of people cause they had a lot of power (and sorta looked like like the grim reaper). I loved the way they controlled everything and almost every Geneforge game I played I supported the Shapers till the end. However I never did anything wrong. I was the merciful Shaper. I actually listened to the townsfolk and gave an honest opinion on things, instead of saying... NO SHAPER POWER!!! And killing everyone. It's one reason why I like geneforge cause you have so many options

I can't wait... Bringing back Skribbane herbs, dual weilding, old characters, new graphics, what more could you ask for!!! Im really looking forward to this last release, ever since I bought my first Avernum and got addicted (Avernum 3- The best ever), I always wait for the next release urgently. Im very sad the trilogy is coming to an end (I hope for the anniversaries of Avernum, there can be a release of the newer Avernum's (after 3) remade with the old graphics. I think it would be nice as a collector's additon. Good Luck with A6, can't wait to see what will come out of this.

I think it got reduced, I feel the same way about this matter. The range distance with the bow definately feels shorter or is it because you seem more zoomed into the game?

wow this is an awsome strategy but I don't think everythign drinks. I mean imagine gettign a dragon drunk, it seems like a great idea when your soloing the game. Drop wine around you in a circle and go kick the dragons but. =]

I played through almost all of the avernum games and never stole once (or that I could remember). But now that I finally got avernum 5 for my birthday, Im realising I need to steal much more. Before A5,there was basically a way around many things but in A5 it seems way harder. I don't know if its for me or not but it game me a thought. So this brings me to the question, when do you feel the need to steal/ Do you steal to beat Avernum?

I personally don't use any potions but the energy ones for my mages. My people are usually good enough to survive with 2 mages which alternate between healing and attacking with my archers. The only problem I ever have are money issues. Im always running out of cash after every main quest and have to do courier jobs to make back cash for quests. For other items I use mainly divine host and piercing crystals because their effects are awsome and top notch. Occassionaly I do use random potions/items I find though, like if Im ransacking goblin caves at the beggining of the game, Ill pick up and use stuff I can't really carry on. I always save all types of arrows though as it helps when fighting a variety of enemies(weak to strong)

Hmm maybe they would do it with poision potions too? I mean why make a potion to poison your character unless it works with others too?

Joining the Anama has minor help...free cakes,free basic priest spells and the rare ones to buy and the useful advantages of meeting other Anama. Joining the anama is hard but useful for soloers so you can heal good without dishing out too much cash on potions. I perfer staying away from them...they are evil lol.

I gotta say Avernum 3...it was the best overall. The second best I got to say is Avernum 5. Im not a big fan of the old ones though they were really good and Avernum 4 wasnt too sharp. A5 brought a twist and exitement and is a good start with the new gfx and interface.

really good poll. my opinion of natural mage is a must stays... it always comes in handy.

i agree all xian items are for fun, thats it. and coins add lots of weight over time. just train barter and merch.

you can start with any avernum. i beat all the demos, then avernum 3 100% now im on avernum2.
