functionality issue mysteriously resolves
Brock The Archmage replied to Brock The Archmage's topic in The Exile Trilogy
yes, I know about the re-registering, I am currently working on that. You see the problem is, my mom bought it somewhere along the fine line between when her last name was Wirth, and when it was Nelson, we can't remember which she was. So there are two names to choose from. also, it was all 3 exiles, forgot to mention. Mom bought the trilogy CD and we misplaced the CD a couple years ago. Well, we will figure something out. Strange thing though. Edit: Any idea why Alorael changes names so much? been curious. -
For the longest time now, Exile has not been working on my PC. i checked the site for help, and emailed Jeff, and was told that it was probably some files in the system32 folder having virus issues. So i followed the instructions, and it didn't work. Months followed, and still it would not work. Now, oddly enough, the game operates again. Suddenly. I did not do anything more that I am aware of to fix it. Did anyone else have this problem with the game? and is it fixed now? I think it could have been a windows update or something. Oh, and when i was messing with it I deleted and re-downloaded it, but it still didn't work and then, like a doofus, the copy i got rid of was the REGISTERED ONE! *smacks self on head*

I probably will pay for that game, too, eventually.) you won't have to deal with being commanded over much, she mostly lets you do her your thing and explore for her after the irst part. cake should be the meal of choice in th games! i wish mindduel was back...i loved it

defintely. first aid will make you hael a little after every battle, so at least one character must have at least one point. luck gives a small bonus to everything. defense makes you harder to hit, and is good for mages and essential for archers/warriors. hardiness is great for all characters because it makes you take less damage when you are hit. If you have first aid, and your warrior has high defense and hardiness, he will be very hard to kill.

It would make certain classes viable, be a lot of fun, and missile based characters deserve a little extra oomph for being different. now THAT is a viable idea... the possibilities are seemingly endless... note: 4 AP seems more balanced...2 shots but no moving. Theextrafocus of aiming and firing twice makes it more difficult then say, drinking a pod. now all i want to see in Jeff's games are a way of doing much more damage unarmed. like gloves of unarmed damage or something, so i can make a monk-like character.

Toadstools of STRENGTH!
Brock The Archmage replied to Maledictis's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
i found those toadstools used them in a potion, it became potion(+), and the character that drank it gained two strength. dunno if it was a glitch or if Jeff stuck them in there for that reason -
Sixus suicide
Brock The Archmage replied to Sheer_Falacy's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
this topi seems related to my question-how do u get past the stupid levers in the beginning of sixus' tower anyway? i have never figured it out (granted i didn't try very hard) -
go to your character's info screen, in the bottom right where it has your mage spells and abilities and all that click useful skills, then click willpower. it explains it there. i believe willpower is derived from intelligence and luck, and maybe one of the magic skills. It says in te description what the formula is. 5% resistance per point of willpower i think, compared against the skill of the one who uses it. incidentally, dumbfounding is one of the most difficult effects to resist. Edit: Let's say a mung demon has a 60% chane to dumbfound, and you have 80% resist. the 60% comes from your chance. 80% minus 60% is 20%, so u have a 20% chance of resisting it. see? Edit:yay i have been given a 5 star rating by someone!

What is better Shapers or Rebels?

The rebels may currently be overzealos due to some of the Drakons, but I have faith that their leader will rein them in and that they will see reason. Sorry, but have you finished the rebel endings? Because I see it hard to believe that with the evidence planted in the game. Can you explain your position more? Now THAT is he kind of talking i like seeing! asking if he understands, and saying he disagrees in a gentle and understanding way! Go you! -
what did you name your characters, and why?
Brock The Archmage replied to ixfd64's topic in The Exile Trilogy
i like to roleplay-a lot-and tend to come up with characters who i then write stories about or insert into d and d, so they are usually pretty in depth. unfortunately, I only remember this one, and also exile doesn't have the depth of races d and d does, so i actually adjust for exile instead of the other way around. As follows: Lana: a halfling girl who has no memory of her life before being left on the streets of Lorelei. she desperately searches the city for a cure to heal a wasting disease that threatens to take her only friend's life. At last, she turns to magic, but not quickly enough to save her friend's life. She then set to travelling. In her travels, she discovers that the disease is affecting other people in many cities, all of them born with an innate ability (divinely touched)...and that it was caused by an old, wise, powerful, totally evil necromancer...deep underground... -

I would love to see the revamped Avernum Trilogy! My wonder is will some of the old spells from Exile ever come back, like Mindduel (especially) and the area of effect spells, flight and the create barrier spells (oh yeah!). Incidentally, do you think owners of the original trilogy will get a nethergate-like discount when getting the remakes whenever they come?

What is better Shapers or Rebels?
Brock The Archmage replied to I9am8shaper7hear6me5roar49's topic in Geneforge Series
is this thread nothing more than a flame war, people contantly telling everyone else why they are wrong, and proffering a more reasonable opinion, only to be shot down?! I have taken to reading only the very short messages, because they are the only ones worth reading! sheesh, calm down and at least attempt to understand the other person's point of view! incidentally, if someone would explain how karma works i would appreciate it, i am young and have been on only 1 other board. a...relaxed dungeons and dragons discussion board. Edit: thanks Kinggolden -
What is better Shapers or Rebels?
Brock The Archmage replied to I9am8shaper7hear6me5roar49's topic in Geneforge Series
The Trakovites are, in a way, looking at the grand scale of things. As someone said earlier, they are the hippies of Terrestria. They believe that the power of Shaping, of creating life magically, should be stopped. This view would, indeed, stop the suffering quite well. However, by stopping the creating of life, they have also stopped a source of happiness. Most creations are happy and content with their lot in life. As the Final Fantasy character Seymour said, you must kill someone to release them from the suffering of life. In his madness, he failed to see the joy that living holds for all of the world's living creatures, especially humans. To end suffering is to end everything else! Edit: By the way, all, i am a new member here, and i am a TOTAL GEEK, if anyone wants to know more about me Edit: the last board i was on prefered each point being a separate post, but i an handle that. -
What is better Shapers or Rebels?
Brock The Archmage replied to I9am8shaper7hear6me5roar49's topic in Geneforge Series
however, the rebels are not correct either. Many simply lust for power, and wish to steal the power from the oppressors without understanding them. The rest believe in what they do, still not seeing that the Shapes have a point. However, their attempt to counter Shaping with Shaping, the only way they can win, causes much more harm than good. The war has been laying waste to Terrestria. By mistreating life in the same way as the Shapers (forcing them to fight, like the Thahds and whatever) they have become like them. -
What is better Shapers or Rebels?
Brock The Archmage replied to I9am8shaper7hear6me5roar49's topic in Geneforge Series
the shapers have the right idea, creating life should be controlled. However, over the many years of crating life, and destroying it, they have lost sight of the true meaning of life. The look in that servile's eyes as it awakens into full consciousness is soon dimmed by the mistreatment that the shapers dish out. The love of life that thahd comes to know in the brief time before it is thrown into combat, to live or die, isn't even seen anymore by the shapers.
