Are those 2 characters going to appear in G3? I haven't heard of them and I am in the middle of playing G3 for the first time.

wierd...when i play a Shaper i pump all the magic skills, all the shaping skills, Leadership, Mechanics, Intelligence, and somewhere i buy a couple quick action so i can act faster and maybe some dexterity. Oh well.

script reading problems....help a neophyte?
Brock The Archmage replied to Brock The Archmage's topic in Geneforge Series
thanks Evnissyen -
i suppose.... dunno about trainable skills, but maybe you just gain "advanced shaping" as an advantage similar to qualities in Avernum, but gained through normal gameplay by buying it as training. That makes me wonder if special "qualities" could be learned in any game in the upcoming future of SW....

well as to that Jeff will do it how he wants thing, I'm positive he checks the forum for both ideas and to see what his customers want. good business sense ya know. ne way, what i want to see is some of the more versatile spells from Exile, like the fields and barriers, and maybe some others, but i doubt it will happen. I even emailed Jeff about it a good while back, he said it was highly unlikely. Also, dual wielding, but he said that is also highly unlikely. O well, the game is sure to be more than good enough for me to try to scrounge up enough to buy it. EDIT: on the bright side in reference to that email, it was way back around A5 and he told me he would be making character editors again and he did. Yay!

I am not at all familiar with coding in any way, but i would like to be. So I decided to check out the scripts in the geneforge folder. I found out some interesting things, but I have a question. I see in most of the scripts a rectangular shape, often between words, and what's more, it can't be copied and pasted. Is it from a programming language? I don't think I actually have C++ or whatever Jeff uses (I think someone told me he wrote his own), so... EDIT: well I feel like a fool. I figured it out when i tried to copy and paste some of the coding. it meant the return key was hit. *smacks own head* EDIT: these scripts are fascinating, I'm learning a lot just "staring at the computer screen until my eyes bleed" (quote of Jeff) EDIT: another reason I like Jeff is his sense of humor. Stuff done flag comes to mind. File from GF1: Groupnpc. /groupnpc.txt - Like basicnpc.txt. Basically, it fidgets around and attacks anything //it sees it hates. Also, if it becomes hostile, it sends an alert message to everyone //in its group, if it is in a group.

Coin limits: Exile series:25000 Avernum 1: 9000 Avernum 2+3: 15000 Geneforge 1: ? Geneforge 2: ? all after that: ? -
cool, but they didn't identify themselves in any way?

I have heard a couple times now that after Jeff finishes Avernum and Geneforge, he is going to return to Exile. Something about updating them to work better nowadays. Is this true? Or is it just speculation? Edit: Someone mentioned Exile 4 and 5 in one thread or another. what about that?
-
no one necessarily won, could be a long, bloody, stalemate. EDIT: typo EDIT: I remember the debate when Lepus Timidus was still here burning up the boards. *shudder*

yeah, an unaligned Shaper who kills Trajkov and not one other leader is the most accurate.

I only read the first page, this is a response to it, no idea what happened in the rest of the thread yet. The canisters are basically mini-Geneforges, and the Geneforge was built after careful study of DNA and what happens to the DNA after the Shapers continue their old bombarding with magic energy. It seems likely that anyone with KNOWLEDGE about the relevant attribute to increase, and lots of knowledge about DNA and the materials to make a canister, and who knows how to make a canister, can do so. The original canisters were made by Shapers remember. While he uses his own genetic makeup as a base, He then changes it in some way to work the improvement. someone with strength 2 could make a strength canister by using his knowledge of what makes a person stronger.

Yes, power gamers tend to do so on most playthroughs. But don't forget we are human too! we play the game normally sometimes! If that's how you play on most other playthroughs, You are a power gamer too.

i am getting really tired of coming here and realizing i forgot to log in. The stay logged in feature isn't working right. This post and a couple other anonymous posts were me when I didn't realize. And like Dikiyoba said, I too roleplay a power-hungry psychopath who uses all the sects to his/her own ends.

Help with Exile III: Ruined World crash
Brock The Archmage replied to Martynas's topic in Tech Support
go to the main page of Spidweb, go to our games, scroll to the bottom, click older games, go to exile 3, scroll to the bottom, and follow the instructions there. If that fails, then try reinstalling like they said earlier. -
Hmmm. Well, I guess the reason I play using magic most is because I like to do things myself, and rarely use minions. To each his own i guess. But I'd rather use minions than get up close to the enemy! I'm fragile!

Raising the topic from the dead.... I am of the opinion that the most Important aspect of the Exile games that still attracts me today are the options. The graphics are pleasant, but no awe-inspiring, but graphics have never been that important to me. I don't really know why they would be, but then i was raised on games like Exile, so.... I love having the option to create barriers as well as dispel them. I like being able to duel someone with my mind, although the spell point leaching was a little weird. I loved making quickfire, and identifying items myself, and all the other things you could do. What i really wanted to see when i picked up Avernum was Exile again without the annoying repeated clicking to get somewhere, and the ability to see farther away. This was granted, but a lot of the options were taken away. This upset me, and that is why i consider Avernum to be a different game. I play either one, but they are different to me.

functionality issue mysteriously resolves
Brock The Archmage replied to Brock The Archmage's topic in The Exile Trilogy
Yes, I know. I like how Jeff really cares about his customer base. That's why I am gonna buy all his games eventually (when i get the money that is). I've already got Exile 1, 2, and 3, Avernum 1, 2, and 3, and Geneforge 1, 2, and 3. Next: Geneforge 4! Edit: yes, i just got the Geneforge trilogy. -
I think most everyone seems to have done a play through where they focused on magic and had shaping as a backup. that is the only play style I ever use unless i want a guardian for some reason. Magic is just all-important in Geneforge.

Geneforge 5: Overthrow - June Update
Brock The Archmage replied to Spidweb's topic in Geneforge Series
i increased my resolution then zoomed WAY in on the picture, it definitely has a mask and is floating. some kind of special forces elite or something. As to whether that is the +magic/-melee character or not, who knows?
