  1. All this talk I hear about "which engine is better" on these boards is just deppressing. I like them all for their own pluses, and don't bother rating them against one another, which ensures I have no qualms replaying any SW game. I still play Exile because of options, Avernum because of the stats being maxed at 100 for supreme customizability and playability as well as the interface being easy to use, and I play Geneforge and the new games because of the atmosphere and story just getting more and more developed with each game. But maybe I'm just an optimist. And now for something completely different. Back on topic, If I have to rate them, I would say A2, because I like the story best, A3 because of the world, A1 because of story but no quest list , and I can't rate the other 3 without playing more than the demos.
  2. How many did you use Nalyd? all of them? Because I used every one I found and went into every area, and used the Geneforge, and didn't see glowing....Maybe I should go load that save file...I'll be back in five minutes. EDIT: I didn't see any glow, but the original save file that went everywhere is gone, the farthest along one was clearing out all the areas after Geneforging, had like 3 left.... *shrug*
  3. You can join the Divine Lucre? where? Hehe, I like joining the Anama early, then leaving them and getting everyone into a mage once they have all the spell benefits. Hehehe.
  4. In all seriousness, every viewpoint that any person comes up with to look at the problem will be inherently flawed due to the nature of the problem. The trick id taking the option that is, to you, the least flawed, or making one if it isn't available. (and the one you make will still be flawed)
  5. Hi, and welcome to the community here at Spiderweb. I hope you followed the code of Conduct and left your sanity at the door! Any way, ever since Jeff released the source code for Blades of Exile, people have been tinkering with it, but I don't know how many people are still doing it, because Blades of Avernum came out. However, I'm sure some people here will be able to provide you with a link to the sites that still play around with it. Oh, and i never got Blades, but I do still play the Exiles frequently.
  6. well, I haven't played E3 in a long while, that could be.
  7. You were described as glowing, the picture of you on screen didn't

  9. The important part of Dikiyoba's post was "I'm pretty sure that was possible in G2 as well". Sorry about that.

My favorite Valdmemar book would probably be Brightly Burning, which can be read without any prior knowledge of the series. It also has a male protagonist, if such things actually matter. I hope she hasn't decided to stop writing in Valdemar novels. It's been 5 years now since Exile's Valor came out. I like the Last Herald-Mage series, which takes place back when people still had the Mage-Gift. No idea what happens in the arrows books though. EDIT: First book is Magic's Pawn.
  11. Speaking of finishing quests before you are given them, Never open the door in Sharon's house in G2 leading to her trials to fill up the fanged bracelet. I did on my first play through, and killed some of the enemies. Now i can't fill up the bracelet on that file. Oh well, I'm playing a new one any way.

Quote: (Which, by the way, is what I thought happened in the official plot--not an Obeyer victory. But I haven't played GF2 recently, so I'm not sure--can someone confirm?) Hmm. Zakary's account is pretty vague but does seem to lean towards the escape ending being canon. There might be different accounts that say different things, though. Dikiyoba. Yes, after you speak to Barzahl you can leave at any time.
  13. I killed Trajkov with little effort. I was an agent and had no creations. It's all about using the battlefield to your advantage, and what the plan of attack is.
  14. Apparently the characters in the first 3 Geneforges and in Avernum 4. Dunno about 5
  15. Never doubt the power of the Ornks! Ornks forever!!!!!!!!!
  16. I doubt unaligned is an option unless there is some way to kill everyone and everything and rule the world yourself. The thing about unaligned in G1 and 2 that I noticed is the game assumes that mean true loyalty to the Shapers. I don't know if G4 had one, however. So....Maybe? EDIT: i haven't played G4, so if I sound ignorant, that's why.
  17. Oh. Thanks guys. Also, as to the person saying it isn't a good shield- I wouldn't know, I have never managed to get it.
  18. And yet that seems to be the case for many in today's society. Speaking of Mercedes Lackey's books and the world of Valdemar, give the last Herald-Mage series a try, if you don't mind a gay protaganist. (haha). Speaking of female protagonists, there is this book i read recently called The Naming that was pretty good. Protaganist finds out she has magic, but doesn't care about using it, that old jazz, but it's pretty well written.
  19. Thanks. As to the encumbrance-I'm a firm believer in dropping the very very heavy backpack when trouble rears it's head, hence having NO encumbrance but the armor.
  20. OK, so I have the G2 hintbook, and it says the black crystal powder is in the Crystal Mine. I have been up and down that mine, and i cannot seem to find it! I want the All-Protector-I have never gotten it yet! Someone tell me where exactly it is in there please! Must....find....Black crystal powder.... EDIT: Yay! 100 posts a bit ago!
  21. Imagine Mycroft using Far sight in a town early in the morning when people are bathing in preparation for work. He just wants to find secret doors, but he gets quite a shock....
  22. you checked your number of skill points before and after the drinking, yes?
  23. Dang....I don't know enough about French to know what Vergil said....And the blank Geneforge 5 BLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLANNK Hm. I need to go back to French class.
