A6 - Help please- spoiler couple of questions

I seem to remember the Mean Shaman (this was a quest from the Spiders, right?) was somewhere north of Formello. -

This won't help you get access to spells or skills before you're supposed to. It will just make them cheaper. Open a file for a zone that has a trainer in it. The easiest thing to do is just to search for "shop" and look for the phrase "begin_shop_mode". This will be followed by a description of the shop or trainer and then three numbers, like so: 54,5,0 The middle number sets the prices; the lower the better. A one would be "very reasonable" and a zero would be "extremely cheap". Take your pick. You only have to change the one digit. It would probably not be worth doing this for regular shops, just trainers, because it would take a while to hunt through all the scripts. But it saves messing with SDFs, which can really screw up your game if you're not careful. -

Or you could just cheat all the trainers' prices down to "extremely cheap". Not hard to do, though it would take a little patience. -
A6 - What else can you shoot through?
Jerakeen replied to Failedassassin's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
I think so, though I can't think of an occasion when there was something to target through a barrier. Usually the nasty is hiding just out of sight. Anybody? AoE spells work through barriers, anyway. -
I knew somebody would say it.

A6 - What else can you shoot through?
Jerakeen replied to Failedassassin's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
Anything you can see through. You may not always have a direct line of sight to your target, though. That's when area-of-effect spells come in handy. -
Welcome to the forums!

Alternately you can just run away without killing them, after killing the queen. Come back later to loot the place and they'll be gone. There might be a couple of hive tenders left if you didn't kill them, but they don't explode.

No. Hostility will be confined to the creatures in that group, and occasionally even to the one individual that you attack (this must be a bug).

One of those green limbs.

Pretty sure that was Tania Venia in the shrine at Fort Dranlon. Doesn't it say in the quest log?

A6 - Finding mushrooms? (very minor spoilers)

Yes, the one with the portal. If you didn't find the banshees, look for a switch. -

A dark alley on a planet with, evidently, no gravity. :Snark: That said, these are very good.

I, for one, can't wait.

Can I change my characters' names after I start?
Jerakeen replied to Alucard's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
Yes. On the right side of the console, just below the map icon, is an icon that looks like 4 little game pieces. Clicking that will let you change PC names or appearances, or even delete a PC. -
The GIFTS' lair is north and slightly west of Ft. Draco, across the river. It's pretty much on a direct line between Ft. Monastery and Tenevra.

Better to concentrate your attacks on one mass at a time, using whatever Battle Disciplines you have access to as often as possible to deal maximum damage per round. Adrenaline Rush, Mighty Blow, and Shield Breaker are all good, or even Well-Aimed Blow if that's all you have. Buff up, obviously, but avoid Spineshield. If for some reason you are unable to do a lot of damage in one round (say you're a singleton and you need to heal and/or buff), it's better to do none at all and save it for the next one. Don't skip too many rounds, though, as monsters seem to regenerate health at an unfairly high rate. Edit: Of course it's not really unfair, since we get first aid. Not to mention resurrection.

If you want specifics, Ackrovan, it goes: 5,6,8,9,11,13,15,16,18,20

Battle Disciplines unlock as your Battle Skills increase. You get one point of Battle Skill for each point of Melee or Pole weapons, and half a point for each point of Bows or Thrown weapons. This includes any race or item bonuses. To unlock the last Battle Discipline you need 20 points of Battle Skill.
