Without dexterity, how can you act faster than the increasingly fast enemies? Being able to play first is always the key. I'm playing with three sorcerer/archers and a warrior/archer. Everyone works up priest skills up to mass healing. The sorcerers get 15 points of bows to reach adrenaline rush, the warrior mixes it up. The real challenge is to find the money to pay for spells for everybody, lol. Gotta say, it's pretty wild dishing out the occasional 100+ points of damage with those cavewood long bows. I used to rely on shades for shielding. Now I start with beasts (which die quickly) to block foes and then hit them with splinter. The shades seem more powerful, which is nice.

Hi Mea, Just want to say how much I'm enjoying playing your mod. Splinter and Cone of Cold are forcing me to come up with completely different combat tactics. What a joy! It's like a new game. Also really appreciating the new power of bows and javelins. Since the game demands that you invest heavily in dexterity (at least at the Torment level), it's great to have strong archers at the lower levels while my sorcerers' mage powers build up slowly over the course of the game. Again, many thanks!

Thanks Mea! I love this game so much. I've played it (and the other two) I don't know how many times. My current setup is one warrior and three sorcerers, all four minoring in priesthood so they can summon shades, the most reliable tank supply in the underworld. They also all rely on bow skills to get up the discipline ladder, so I'm eager to see the new arrow power in action. Firing it up now!

Thanks! Will take my chances... -
OK, figured out how to trigger the Ruska Pass quest. Sorry for the trouble.

Hi, I restarted the game after realizing I was missing out. I'm stuck at Ruska Pass, which I was able to navigate the first time around. Any thoughts? Also, where do you see the reputation stats? Many thanks

Haha, yeah, I figured it out this morning. Thanks for the rapid reply!

Hi, I've dedicated two forts to Industry but Mad Flurry does not unlock. Adding a third fort didn't do the trick either. Anything I missed along the way? Thanks

So far the game's been playing great and I've been enjoying the revamped Avernum. But in the Drath crypt, I've gone through it three or four times, pressing the U key every few steps, trying to figure out a way to get to those 2 levers behind the gate in the SE corner. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong here (or not doing right)? Thanks in advance.

I had to take a screen shot of the main map during one of the transitions to get a good look at it. I am loving the huge spaces. The dungeons feel a lot less cramped. Thank Jeff for the big area maps (Tab key), otherwise, I'd be lost all the time. Seems this game is less about finding all the artifacts strewn about the terrain and more about playing a very careful political game. There's a lot of different forces at work here.

I'd love to see the full map too. The scene switching is a little annoying when entering larger buildings, but since it means bigger dungeons, I accept them as a feature. However, it would be nice to have an easy way to tell which buildings have been explored. On the map, they stay dark.

You should be able to loop back at the south end, right past the island.

Switched from Warrior to Lifecrafter[G5]
pixelpusher replied to madrigan's topic in Geneforge Series - Originals
Well, with really strong magic and decent hand-to-hand, the only thing I had to worry about was getting stuck in the stun cycle. Which happened plenty of times. But mostly, I'd walk into a room, spread the bug spray, charm a little, and taze away. Or stealth around. Since I work out of the house, my productivity still took a huge hit. But the game was relatively quick and lots of fun. Having five factions gave the story a lot more drama than the usual for us/against us/Trakovite deal. If time permits, I'll try it again. Which class do you recommend for singleton? -

Just finished the game playing as a singleton Lifecrafter on Casual. Immunity from mental attacks is good! Which I had that in real life. -
A5 seems to be a step up in difficulty

I like Fael's macro idea. I find myself typing out the buffing sequences before each combat without even looking -- just keeping to the correct rhythm so there's no overlap. Here's how I think about the difficulty levels (because I have a job and many other interests -- lame, I know): Easy -> Quick Play: Enjoy the story and the puzzles, whizz through the fights Normal -> Balanced Play: Story, puzzles, but give the monsters a fair chance Hard -> Combat Play: The game is fun, but the fights really make it all worthwhile Torment -> Addictive Play: No fight is too hard! Bring 'em on, Vogel -- you've got nothing! I play on Normal, though I did edit the tool use up to 30 just because I got tired of interrupting quests or remembering where I had to back later to open whatever. Maybe an in-game marking system could address that... Glad to know about the built-in extra tough encounter that comes with each chapter. And here I thought I was wussing out by skipping them and coming back later. Otherwise, this is by far my favorite Spiderweb game. The blend -- action, story and can't-have-it-both-ways choices -- is really expertly tuned. Kudos to Jeff for his craft and creativity. Eric D. -
Amazing work, Synergy! Saves a lot of frustration. Now I can waste my time efficiently. Based on this list, there's no solution to the Scuttler eyes quest, right? I certainly haven't come across any in the Scuttler pit area.
