  1. While I understand that the game will have a high CPU usage, if Doom 3 can run perfectly, I can't understand why G5 wouldn't. I haven't tried the other Geneforge or Avernum games in a few months(the graphical issues have become progressively worse since then) so I'll have a test and see what happens. I'm thinking of buying Coolbook to try and undervolt the computer and cut down on the temperature. Thanks for the help though!
  2. It's one of the early(late 2006)batch Macbook Pro's.
  3. I'm running the Geneforge 5 demo in OSX. After about 5 mins of play time the computer gets to at least 80' and the screen starts flickering madly. After a little while OSX will just crash. I'm normally not able to play most recent games due to my graphics card being crap. I'm running the ATI Radeon X1600 that was in the earlier MBP's and it's known(though not acknowledged by Apple) for it's various graphical issues. Normally I'll get screen tearing and Artifacting that doesn't sort itself even when V Sync is applied. Now what I can't understand is why Geneforge 5 is causing problems. It's hardly a demanding game. I can run Doom 3 on the lowest-medium graphics fine with no problems and somewhat lower temps(70'). Now what I'm thinking might actually be the problem is that something has gone wrong with Direct 3d/Direct X since anything with Open GL(Doom 3) works fine. It also makes sense if DirectDraw is used for these games. If anybody knows any way to sort out these issues, I'd REALLY appreciate it!
  4. That works, but unfortunately I can't seem to go sideways when holding two keys on the arrow keys. (I don't have a numpad and numlock is too awkward) Oh well, thanks for the help. It's not a major problem anyway, just an annoyance.
  5. I'm using a Macbook pro and I don't know if it's just the mouse or if it is like this for everyone but when I'm in a town or dungeon etc, I move like 5 steps at a time with one click on normal speed, so I set it to slow. On the main map however I tend to move 2-3 steps per click and changing the speed makes no difference. While this isn't such a big deal, it's very annoying since a lot of the time I end up getting into fights I don't want to and also it makes it very awkward to try to enter dungeons if I'm coming at an angle since the chracters seem to just skip past it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Could anyone tell me what the number is on the avernum editor for the opening stone thing. My character who was holding it died so now it's lost. Any help would be great, thanks.
  7. Hey, anyone happen to have a save game at around the completion of the troglodyte castle. I had to erase my comp and can't find my flash drive that had the backup. Preferably mac but PC will do, thanks. Any help would be great, thanks.
  8. I seem to be getting invalid script errors and missing dialogue errors frequently. It really irritates me as I have to revert back to a previous save and generally, as I mostly overwrite, it's quite far back in the game. Is there any way of fixing this? Its occurred in G1,G3 and A5, though it may occur in the others as I've never really tried them. Any help would be great, thanks.
