This is getting ridiculous Like I said in my previous post, the most plausible answer is that the Unbound have a reflex action to shape. Since they are so mindlessly powerful, they don't think about shaping as a Shaper has to. As I see it, the Unbound where "programmed" so that their shaping a creation takes as much thought as your flinching when hit.
  2. The Shapers you see shaping in mid combat are all veterans with far more skill than you. The one plausible exception would be the apprentice at the end of the first chapter in GF4. Then again, he had more formal training than any PC (except possibly the GF5 PC, who is just rusty and, well a mental train-wreck). Unbound are different. Honestly, given their description at the end of GF4, I don't think they have the mental facilities necessary to shape. Maybe it was shaped into them as a reflex action?
  3. Um. I am on Lion. And that is the library you want. There are three different libraries on your computer. You want the user library. So I checked, and you're right also. That does bring you to the user library. Oh. I think that, as soon as I switched to Lion, I went into Terminal and turned off the hiding of the library. Yeah, I don't like Apple babying me.

So Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Avadon Settings Double click the hard drive icon on your desktop. Look in the "favorites" section of the left menu for whatever folder has a house icon and your username as the name. From there, open the folder called Library. Then the folder Preferences. One of the first files (if you're in alphabetical) should be titled Avadon Settings. This keeps all of your play settings and medals, as well as your registration.
  5. I've been meaning to learn my way around Unix for a few years now. With the more and more limited use Apple is giving me in their systems, I see it as an inevitable switch, especially if I want to learn any compsci in college.
  6. Actually, you can't search for the settings. A few systems ago, Apple decided that we shouldn't be able to search for files in libraries. This really sucks for those of us who like to fully delete games from our computers. You have to hunt down all of the support and settings files for the game in the library which, admittedly, isn't hard. It's just a little harder than it used to be.

  8. I always imagined battle alphas as more along the 8' line. And drakons between 12 and 15.
  9. Prior to challenging Astoria, you have to sneak, as I recall, back behind all of the heat pads you see in her zone. There should be a small area with controls. It looks like you found this area, since you said you lowered the power levels. I don't have the scripts on this computer, but with high enough mechanics, you gain the option to sabotage her machinery completely.
  10. Wait... Skyrim on PC requires you to install Steam? Well, I'm glad it's not available for Mac, or I'd be getting my money back. Nothing against Steam, but why would it be required by Bethesda?
  11. If you have high enough mechanics, you can sabotage her pylon network so that they blow up in her face.
  12. As I remember, you can still sabotage Astoria's equipment. When I killed the shapers, I had started with Alwan. After going straight to Astoria's zone, I fought the patrols, sabotaged her equipment, and she died after a round.
  13. Nikki, you have unintentionally (I assume) raised an interesting point. Is there a difference between self-reference and reference to individuals? That is, is it possible to self-reference without referencing individuals? Your post references itself, which seems to be some sort of self-reference. For those of us (self-reference) confused by my jumbled mass of words up there, I'm asking whether a post referring to itself would count as a self-reference. Thoughts?

I would prefer to live somewhere a bit more familiar, though. I think what's wrong is not so much location, however, as time. Those nice suburbs where all the kids are out playing and the parents all know each other and talk daily? What happened to those? Do they still exist? Here in my part of Maryland, it seems as though people are afraid to be out of their house unless it's for work or their children's school/sports.
  15. Strategy Central normally contains many details that cannot be disclosed by the Beta testers until after the release. The detailed lists of item locations, stat allocations, and builds are all covered by the non-disclosure agreements. If they "Strategy Central" thread was made before the release, those comprehensive resources weren't added until after the release.
  16. I can't personally speak for this, but in Turtle's big editor, there are numerous reports from people who attest to the fact that the Steam version can in fact be edited. You may wish to double check this. EDIT: This is from Turtle's editor: Originally Posted By: The Turtle Moves FAQ Will this work with any version of the game?
  17. Unless I am mistaken, Ghaldring's faction is the only one that will allow you to remove Taygen.

  19. I was under the impression that the en dash worked equally well for that. I know that MS Word auto corrects a hyphen into one of the two, but I'm not sure which. Also, the en (–) and em (—) dashes appear to be the same size in this font.
  20. You're all missing the obvious. Future Dintiradan would have already gone through the fight, so he will know exactly what the Future Dintiradan's own Future Dintiradan will have done to earn Future Dintiradan's trust. Future Dintiradan will then repeat the process on our Dintiradan, who will someday repeat it on Past Dintiradan, who will then someday repeat it on Past Dintiradan's own Past Dintiradan. Repeat ad infititum.

Hot chocolate is my drink of choice most of the time. I can't stand coffee or tea, so it's pretty much the only hot beverage I drink. That said, now that fall is here, I'm on an apple cider (soft, for those of you who live where cider implies hard) binge.
  22. Now that I finally gave it a try, my current password is a little under 200 days. Changing the case of a single letter turns the unit from days to years.
  23. I never found that section to be tedious, but maybe my little boy hormones messed with my judgment. One thing that I have noticed is that there are very few pre-laid plot twists. Some authors plan things books in advance, and only after reading further do you understand why something earlier happened. Perhaps because these are his first novels, Rothfuss simply didn't plan that way. I read an interview where he claims to have just sat down with a story idea and wrote. While his writing does lack some of the more intricate and hidden twists, I certainly feel that these books are some of the best I have ever read.
  24. Is it Nikki's birthday? If that's in his local time, we have the same one! Scary. I finally finished The Wise Man's Fear, and I loved it. Very different from the first book, but just as good. I can't wait for the third.
