  1. Another issue that I'm noticing with my frail Shaper is party position. I like to keep the PC in front to make moving easier, particularly with the small "get" radius of G1. Of course, this makes encounters much more deadly. Any suggestions on compromises?
  2. No, but Jeff, like any real programmer, is lazy. Now that he ports his games for iPad, he takes that platform's limitations into account when writing the game. He doesn't want to have to change any more than he has to change.
  3. I'm currently replaying Geneforge 1 as well, and I agree. There are far more ways to get 1-hit as a Shaper. The best way around this, I think, is to make sure you have a solid collection of creations to absorb hits for you. Also, avoid attacking enemies unless it's a killing blow, as they tend to go after whoever attacked them last.
  4. The smith in Drypeak also gives you a collection quest for iron bars. Of course, with the old encumbrance system, it may not be worth it.
  5. I really like the reduced AP for attacking. True, you have to be more careful with melee, but it also lets your melee creations act much more easily (this is really nice in G5, where battle creations shine).
  6. The game engine actually has maximum values. Setting a skill value beyond that tends to break things. Cajun - the only way to do what you want outside of just leveling up within the game is going to require script work. If you follow Microphages directions, it's really easy. You don't actually modify any scripts, just replace one copy with another.
  7. Have we though about downgrading the graphics? That could cut costs and stop this gender issue. Just write the games with gender-neutral pronouns and let the player design! It's like Dr. Sheldon Cooper says - the most powerful graphics are our imaginations.
  8. Just like monsters, the experience you get from "iamweak" goes down after each level, hence my saying that it has diminishing returns in my first post. If you want to increase you experience or alter your stats, please take Micawber's advice and look into an editor. Microphage did a really great job with this one.
  9. What game are you playing? There may already be a user-made editor that will let you increase your experience.
  10. iamweak has always had diminishing returns, as far as I know. A more reliable, although harder, way to cheat experience would be to script a dialogue option that gives you a set amount of exp.

  12. From personal experience, my cats all recognize their name when directed at them. They're not just responding to voice or tone, either. They look up right after you say their name.

Pretty much all of this. Since the logo has a white and not transparent background, anything other than the default looks bad.
  14. Those two zones are the bookends of Geneforge 4. You can't pass through them. Geneforge 5 takes place on the western half of the continent. The monster swarms in Western Morass are never ending. There is nothing to do as far as clearing these zones.
  15. That's a pretty clever question. I wonder how the Mad Emperor feels about you converting language into a binary system. I guess that's for Dintiradan to decide.
  16. I don't see how Jeff could fit the newer creations into the older games. Their creation is rather important to the plot development in the later games.
  17. Nah, my younger sister (currently 6) will be taking my room. And painting it. I spent years making it a perfect refuge, and it'll be destroyed in weeks.
  18. No, not as far as I know. I wanted to change to the new key layout as well, but instead had to turn off the exposé commands so that Geneforge doesn't crash whenever I autosave.
  19. How else were you supposed to get the canisters in G1? I remember the one south of pentil that I always had a fresh Fyora clear for me. Although the shift did make it easier to scout out zones while leaving your PC in safety.
  20. I got towels and washcloths for college next year. My parents are no longer trying to be discreet about their desire to see me gone.

As Alorael said, neither Wagner's nor Tolkien's works would qualify as fanfics or even as being "based on" previous stories. Fair enough. The Inheritance series certainly draws heavily on Tolkien's work. Of that there is no doubt. I won't go into details for two reasons: I haven't read LotR, only seen the movies, and I don't want to give any spoilers.
  22. Check your difficulty setting; there is no shame in joining me on casual difficulty. Also, solo builds are much harder than shaper builds. I know some people prefer solo, but these games are designed for parties.
  23. I just finished Inheritance. The entire series has so much drawn from LotR that I feel like I'm reading a fanfiction. A good fanfic, but still something created from something else. Then again, LotR is based on Wagner's Ring, so I'm reading a fanfic of a fanfic? Anyway, I know that people have criticized the writing in the Eragon books, and that's fine with me. They were fun reads. Now I'm off to read either A) Pride and Prejudice for school or The Hobbit in preparation for the movie.
  24. 10 for X games anyone? Somehow it came with the full version of Geneforge, and I came to the forum and website a few years later. I still have to beat that game without cheating and blowing through it in two hours...
  25. The secret access crystals are used, if memory serves, to access Benhold's Keep in the southern map. Regarding necromancy - it's appropriate as long as it adds something or asks a new question. EDIT: I don't know why I try to answer questions...
