  1. I loved that rat too. I felt sad about making him leave, but I didn't want Lysstak to kill him
  2. I don't see why people are so averse to simply checking out their local job board before exploring. I've never had any problems with it myself. And at least one job is retroactive - getting the Black Wight's head for Shanker. There may be others, I don't know for sure.
  3. The familiar woman spirit belongs to the lady in the back room of Gladwell's little inn.
  4. Just east of the Giant's Spire is a little island with Water Zombies hiding off the shore. I think that's it. My save game is actually right before they ambush you (I died last time), but I don't recall getting a quest about it. Who do I need to talk to?

An interesting thought... you should be able to do this in A5 too, since it's still in the items list (if I remember correctly). I haven't tried it though. Edit: Checked the A5 list. Demonslayer is there.

  7. Well, in Geneforge 1 I technically supported the Obeyers, although that was just a part of ruthlessly exploiting all three factions. But the Awakened were my favorite, so I felt bad about killing them. In G5, I'd love to play as an Awakened Servile. And a Loyalist Shaper, of course.
  8. For the Anama altar with the scrolls, ask Alcander about joining the Anama. Do what he says, and soon you'll be standing before the altar. What you do next is completely up to you.
  9. I think the Janitor Glaahk is a clever idea. Completely unnecessary, of course - we have serviles for that. Another idea besides the hammer and anvil is to brand your creations with runes, like Spharon in G3. You could have Resistance Runes, Speed Runes, or whatever you like.
  10. So I can play an Awakened Servile? I hope so! And my brother will, I'm sure, be a Tullegolite Agent This is going to be epic.
  11. Look aboveground in the corner of the Northeast Quadrant near Moref's building.
  12. Mass Healing keeps the servants on your side, and high Nature Lore makes them convert faster. That and a Spitting Wyrmkin won the battle easily. ...then all the servants exploded, killing my whole party except for my slith, who was reduced to 5 health. Almost a "Graveyard Thread" moment there.
  13. And many other fun things besides - including the Diablo-esque lair of the Pit Crawler, and Das Uberdungeon, Khora-Vysss!
  14. #3. You can't actually enter Bargha, so no. The only dealing you would ever do would perhaps be coming back late-game to deal out some divine retribution for their crimes. As for #1, I think that is involved in the final battle if you're a Darkside Loyalist. There is fantastic loot back there, but you can't get it before the end of the game.

(Then again, I'm on Normal, dunno 'bout you). Took me forever too, but I finally realized just how useful shades are against the Horror - their extremely accurate, damaging, and weakening attacks were a lovely addition to an otherwise underpowered party at level 14. I could just go on and on about how much fun Khora-Vysss was. Edit: The lesson to be learned from this thread, it seems, is "Work smart, not hard."
  16. We wouldn't want to BoG down the UBB with pointless posts. Edit: How ironic.
  17. That happened to me once, and only once. The best thing is to Daze them so they can't split anymore, then focus fire.
  18. Good thing it's a really small cave. What I did was cast all buffs on my tank, then had him run around the edge, both to minimize damage, and because all the loot is near the edge. Edit: All buffs as in Steelskin, Enduring Shield, Augmentation, Haste, Protection, and War Blessing. I think Steelskin was really what did it. And the Slith bonus
  19. Although it really helps protect against accidental sales if you click one too many times. They're amazing.
  20. If you have non-humans in your party, Ruth makes a point of telling you that Dorikas is not against other races unless they cause trouble.

Completely silly given what we know these days, but still a very enjoyable adventure tale. Journey to the Centre of Avernum, more like. It is an excellent book, and a surprisingly okay movie as well. Quote: by Goldenking: Animal Farm and Brave New World simultaneously. I'll through Nineteen Eighty-Four in the mix eventually. If only our societies were like that... I'm reading The Republic by Plato in class. You should check out his "ideal state" if you aren't familiar with it. So far it looks like Sparta being taken over by Big Brother.
  22. Wow, forgot about that one. My servile had total game completion except for that area. I loathe Venomous Thornflingers.
  23. Ooh, that sounds fun. Speaking of which, how do summons affect the experience you get from enemies? My pet shade struck the killing blow on the Slithzerikai Horror, and I'm hoping I didn't miss too much XP (I know I got a little).
  24. Serviles. Wingbolts are really effective, but Drayks have been my friends ever since G1.
