  1. 300. Vngrs Ssmbl Ll T F Rdr - Impossible speech sounds signify final commitment. Something like xkcd?

    Edit:

    Or

Vngrs Ssmbl Ll T F Rdr - NSFW if you add in the missing letter (don't specify). Because it looks like it's missing a vowel.

They're the grunt-level goons of some kind of evil overlord — the mooks. You send them out each turn into some sort of tower defense scenario, or maybe an attack routine, but it's all automatic. You just watch it unfold. Then the survivors get back to the barracks afterwards, and you get to upgrade them, or maybe recruit new ones to the team, or build relationships among them, or whatever. Then the next day they go out again, and you see what happens to your people.

There could even be a plot.

Have you heard of Gratuitous Space Battles? In the game you design the ships, place them before battle, and give them tactics, but you don't get to control them during the battle. It's reasonably entertaining until you figure out a few things that make the battles a joke. You idea reminded me of that.

Discussing your game, what if you had one character, let's say an officer, and could control him during the scenario? That way it's a little more engaging, while still keeping the same concept of coordinating independent entities.
  3. Well coming from CoD you might find the game pace of Halo slower, because it takes more time to kill people. About two clips of an assault rifle (without headshots), versus five or six shots. Also because of that halo probably requires more skill since headshots make a huge difference in how fast you or your enemies die. Also Halo provides very little class/weapon customization.

  4. I think there's something to be said about the Star Spangled Banner being a song about war and America the Beautiful being a peaceful song, but I'm not the one to say it because I like the Star Spangled Banner better.

Most Americans, whether they think the government is terrible or some politician is terrible, are still fiercely patriotic to (about?) the idea of America. Also, at sporting events I think it's more of a pump-up to hear about the epic battles of yore than beautiful countryside.

  5. Well, I was eating chicken pot pie, drank some water, choked, and twenty minutes later a piece of chicken came out my nose. Is that close enough?

Edit: Everyone should read the previous sentence without the word choked in it, like I originally wrote it.

  6. What happened to Toby-Linn? She never posted in excess but was boosted to mod. But really, where'd she go?

  7. I guess my most recent problem with US politics is that the populous makes fun of politicians as being unintelligent, corrupt, immoral, and unpopular. Not only is this *mostly* inaccurate, but it raises the question, "why don't you do something?" Though that question raises many more questions, and gets at the idea that it's easier to critique the actions of others than do it yourself.

Of course I also think my ideas for a government are better than the current government, just like everyone else.

  8. My family still has our laserdisc player, about 10 laserdiscs, and we assume all of the above work! Who wants to watch the original Star Wars with me, where you have to flip the disc over right before the final battle?

  9. So anyway, when do you go back to school?

What makes summer better than the school months, other than having school?

What classes will you be taking?

    What's your favorite subject?

For those of you who are through with college or post-secondary education, what was your major, or focus?
