  1. I can respect him because he has passion and it is harder to argue for the virtues of something, especially on the internet where anonymity leads to verbal assault of both the topic and person. I didn't think the prequel movies were that bad. Sure they aren't as original because of all the other sci-fi stuff that has come out since then, but they are part of the legacy and tell an important part of the story. Plus the battle scene are more epic and The Phantom Menace has arguably the coolest bad guy of the movies.
  2. My mom made me at least look at all the first 60-70% of college mail I got, which made me consider a few schools. There was only one letter that got me interested enough to ask for more info and eventually apply, and searching for more schools like it led me to find my current school (which will remain anonymous). Interesting fact: Of the seven schools I applied to, all of them offered international study opportunities.
  3. If you need further help understanding, in some places in world they switch the decimal and comma in numbers, so what was $1,234.56 would become $1.234,56 (This is in place of a period so it doesn't throw you off)

  5. I would shoot even higher and say 1998 is old if you're under twenty.
  6. This thread goes no further!!! You must all pay a fare!
  7. Because if you don't think about it too hard, it sounds good. I mean they both taste good by themselves.
  8. Hey excalibur, do you want to buy Civ. V?
  9. Holiday sales? Oh no, now I'm going to spend more money. Edit: It happened already. Civ IV complete for less than $10 I just couldn't resist. Even if I do plan of getting Civ V soon.
  10. I've never tried eggnog, so I'm not sure what alcohol to suggest to add to it. Some people I know mixed eggnog with Irish creme and said it tasted good, but they had already had a decent amount of alcohol and I didn't try it, so I don't know if it really was any good. Incidently don't try chocolate with bacon in it. It sounds good, but ends up just being overwhelming.
  11. Ah, winter Michigan driving. I remember having to drive forty or more minutes through 6 inches of snow to get to school on the days where it snowed at night. Slush, blizzards so intense that the tracks from the car in front of you are filled in by the time you get to them, digging out of ditches. I've done more than Michigan driving, I've done northern Michigan driving. Which, interestingly enough is nothing compared to most Canadian driving.

    Questions

Well, now I'm just upset. One So many hours wasted on searching by hand and I could have just pressed "u." Well at least I'm persistent.
  13. I don't know about you, but I don't find dying very much fun. I think they would rather escape dying over and over. Plus at some point they would have to get bored of being resurrected and dying again with nothing really changing. It would be like being immortal.
  14. I think the only way would be to mess with the scripts so some encounter gives you skill in Create Glaahk or Create Kyshakk. Have someone else explain it to you.

  16. Well the main problem is that you are not the first one to come up with a Geneforge MMO. There have been plenty of people that have come here before you saying a Geneforge MMO game should be created. If we follow the logic you have taken than you have some problems: 1. You need to find someone to make the game for you seeing as you said yourself that you wouldn't be the one writing it, just the inspiration. 2. What is stopping me, or anyone else, from suing you because we had the idea for a Geneforge MMO game first. 3. Your game creator could write 95% of your game, quit, then adjust the game you came up with a little bit and finish it, and publish it without any fear of legal actions by you because "you don't sue someone for inventing a new recipe for a dish you invented"
  17. In other words you plan on suing Jeff for intellectual property rights if he releases an MMO of it because you claimed to have the idea first. This will go over well.
  18. So what I'm getting from this is Bush lowered, or kept taxes level while increasing spending, racking up a huge national debt, and now the conservatives want to continue to have low taxes even though getting rid of the debt would be a better idea. I really want to hear a well-informed Republican argue how they would have the government get the US out of debt.

I seem to remember some statistic saying something like only 30% of congressmen actually voted with their party. Which, now that I think about it, means that more people supported the opposition of their party. How twisted and demented. But the main point was nowadays almost everyone votes with their party. Look at the legislative record of previous administrations and compare. The last time a Democrat pushed through landmark stuff like this was the 1960's. You make it sound like the Republicans didn't even read what was trying to get passed. I miss the good old days where, at the beginning of america, where congressmen, even if they were affiliated with a party, voted for whatever they thought was best. Too bad now if someone tries that they lose the support of their party and a majority of their funding.

Well honestly I think having two parties is a pretty big advantage. It really prevents situations like Mexico, where there are twenty-some political parties and a president can be elected with 30% or less of the vote, because the rest of the vote is spread between 19 other parties. I am for the removal of the electoral college if that means that the vote of the public actually means something, as in situations such as Bush vs. Gore when Gore won the popular vote but Bush won the electoral vote, Gore would get the office.
  22. Well my only complaint about Steam was going to be about how you needed an internet connection to play the games purchased from there, but I just tested it and that's not true.

Extending on this, at least from what I understand, is the only problem with getting Congress to implement higher taxes on the rich is that some Congressmen are rich and would be affected by that, and the rich have more money for lobbyists to convince the Congressmen to keep taxes on the rich lower. Oh, and the general Republican philosophy is: 1. Lower taxes and keep the government out of the economy 2. Socially conservative These are the most basic ideas, from which most actions and policies are based. Not being a Republican I can't explain it further, or how it is supposed to work.
