  1. Looking at AtG's Wrynn sector in the scenario editor, I've noticed that there are a bunch of little outdoor shops hidden behind stands of trees, with a special node that allows you through the trees depending on the state of SDF 34,7. What do I need to do to get this special node to let me through? I've been snooping around Wrynn sector but I can't seem to find much outside the plotline.

  3. If the party dies, they die permanently, regardless of whether the scenario is supposed to resurrect them: http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=111476 This bug exists in Shadow of the Stranger as well as Nephil's Gambit, I'll put up a savefile when I can.
  4. This was a known bug in Ormus' build. I had assumed it was fixed by now, but evidently that is not the case... Can someone notify Ormus?
  5. Aha... I've discovered a winning strategy: charm the imps. The biggest problem is the hordlings casting stuff at you, but if they're busy fighting an imp they'll leave you alone.
  6. "Easy to destroy" you say? The unactivated runes have 550 hitpoints and are immune to everything... (It strikes me - the Truesite has outdated versions of some scenarios. Could it be that I got the old version, with its HP doubling problems?)
  7. I'm playing An Apology with a lvl 7 singleton who's been through "On a Ship to Algiers", and I am already running into trouble with the rune fight. I couldn't seem to knock off a rune before getting killed, so I used the party editor to give myself lightning rods... And ten lightning rods later, I have still not destroyed one rune. It seems the runes have more than three hundred HP each. How is a level 7 party, never mind a level 1 one, expected to destroy the rune in time? Does one have less HP than the rest, or something? Or is this HP doubling? (Which I shouldn't be running into - no way is my party strong enough to trigger it.)

That's interesting... Maybe I'll try a new singleton based on this strategy. I figured dexterity and especially weapons skills mattered more, but then, I tend to keep my characters blessed to the gills. Quote: Unless the scenario you're in contains awesome custom ranged weapons, archery is worthless. Amen. Same with thrown weapons, unless they have interesting effects like lightning or explosions. Quote: Put the points you save on dex and weapon skills into Luck. If you have some luck, then any time you would die you have a chance of "lucking out" and surviving. With 20 luck, this chance is something like 75%. (Very rough estimate. I've never tested it carefully.) It's 5% per level of luck, IIRC, so a PC with max luck has a 95% chance of surviving a lethal blow. Although I've noticed that higher damage attacks seem more likely to kill my high-luck PCs, so that may not be all there is to it. Quote: As for advantages/disadvantages, it depends what sort of player you are. If you're a powergamer who doesn't mind levelgrinding to make up for exp pentalties, then you should definitely play all Sliths with lots of advantages. If you're more casual, or prefer to go fast, then your original approach is a good one too. The difference in your party's power at level 50 is not dramatic. One advantage everyone should be able to forego is Toughness, which literally blocks only 1 HP of damage. Aside from potentially preventing the embarassment of Death By Vampire Bat, it's worthless.
  9. Here it is: http://users.norwoodlight.com/danlev/Att2.sav You need Drakefyre's Alternate Party Maker for this savefile. Enter combat mode, cast Resist Magic, wait, and keep casting it and waiting until the Vahnatai captain casts a slow or curse spell. Then repeat with just waits, and no magic resistance. The singleton probably won't die on you - he has 20 luck and the Vahnatai doesn't dish out huge damage.
  10. Doesn't reduce damage from hostile spells. If there's any difference in the level of slow/curse/etc., it's invisible. I'll see if I can cobble together a save file to demonstrate...
  11. The "Magic Resistant" status effect is supposed to protect from magical effects such as slowing and cursing, but as far as I can tell it does nothing at all. A curse thrown at a PC with that effect enabled has the same chance of working as on an "unprotected" PC. (Note that I'm talking about magic resistance as it pertains to the spells Resist Magic, Protection, and Avatar - not items that grant magic resistance.) BTW, is Ormus still around, or is the project unmaintained now?
  12. I'm doing the ghost's quest for revenge against her murderer, and I'm stuck. The ghost told me to find her ring, which should be at the pawn shop, and the woman at the pawn shop pointed me to a Wilma Harrington at Southside Apartments. But a guy at Southside said Wilma had moved to Independence City, and I can't find her there. Where is she?
  13. For some reason, it's possible in the latest version of BoE to buy expensive (~30000 gold) weapon augments when you don't have enough cash for them. If you're not careful, this can give you negative gold. If you are careful, you can get infinite quantities of gold. I was able to do this in ATG: 1. Go to Solaria Library, find the efreet. 2. With ~4000 gold, have him enchant a steel bardiche. Get ~29000 gold as a result. 3. Buy stuff until I have a few thousand gold, then enchant something expensive again. Enchant cheaper weapons, buy more stuff, repeat, and soon have flaming weapons for the entire party. What with the existance of the character editor, I wouldn't consider this a huge bug, but it is kind of dumb.
  14. Ormus: I created the savefile with a post-bugfix version of OBoE. Not sure how this happened. I'll try the debug stuff when I can, right now I'm having some computer problems...
  15. For Ormus: here's a link to the scenario: http://www.geocities.com/alcritas/falling.zip
  16. Here are the encrypted and decrypted versions of my savefile: http://users.norwoodlight.com/danlev/Att.sav http://users.norwoodlight.com/danlev/Att-decrypted.sav Savefile contains a party of one demigod-PC in the Wizards' Bazaar - the version of Falling Stars is the most recent, available from Alcritas' website. Boating around the Bazaar will reveal potions, lanterns, books, and other stuff in the walls; and attempting to drop an item may result in a message to the effect that there's too much stuff on the floor. Hopefully this will help resolve the bug...
  17. Hmm, it looks like the random items bug still exists... The problem is that many towns/dungeons seem to be generated the first time with random items in the walls and stuff. There also seems to be a relationship between how many items are in a town, and how many random items pop up. In AC3, for instance, which uses items where other scenarios use terrain features, you get haystacks and water troughs appearing where they shouldn't all the time. Ormus: if you need a savefile for this, I can have one up pretty soon...
  18. If it isn't too much trouble... - Kill/stone/dust all should only kill PCs that exist. - Resurrect all should only resurrect PCs that exist. - Split party should not make nonexistant PCs visible.
  19. A simple suggestion for the default game settings: Instant Help should be *off* by default. The game has a help file, and getting spammed with Instant Help messages is annoying.
  20. I already know they're not preset... If I exit the town and come back, the random objects will be different, e.g. a room with a book in one corner might now have a candle in the middle, or something like that. One time I found gold on the floor in Fort Lemmix (in AtG) - definitely not preset. And the random items do seem to appear wherever items are supposed to be saved... In Redemption, for instance, the portal room and the room with McNemier's and Rayne's bodies have them cropping up all the time.
  21. Hmm. I'm noticing that a lot of objects - usually stuff early in the list like gold, books, candles, etc. - are appearing randomly in rooms and sometimes in walls, occasionally in stacks. I wonder if this is related to the bug with storage rectangles not working...
  22. Hmm, there's a new version of OBoE out since I observed this. I'll see if the bug is fixed in it.
