  1. ...that's really just a matter of opinion.
  2. It was an appropriate ending for Solberg, I thought.
  3. He's in the southwest corner of Spire.
  4. Nice, I like how you have the 1984 electoral map on there and the first Mac commercial. Also, this is coincidentally one year from the date you registered. That's a lot of posts in one year... Edit: (Note to self: probably not a coincidence. Woo-doo-doo)
  5. CHE 101 - Introduction to Chemical Engineering CHEM 201 - Chemistry for Scientists and Engineers MATH 182 - Calculus II ENG 102 - Composition II MUS 121 - Music Appreciation Going from a small town to college is kind of odd because there are more people in my lecture classes than there were in my entire high school senior class.
  6. The same isn't true for the men in the novel. So the society is sexist. ...or are you joking? It's hard to tell sometimes.
  7. I just love the sound of a sitar, especially when used with psychedelic music. I doubt that I would ever actually learn how to play though.
  8. It was written in the early thirties, and the women's rights movement had been growing by then. Women received the right to vote at 21 in the UK just a few years earlier. I agree that the social norm was still very sexist, but I would have thought that Huxley, as one of the great thinkers of his time, would have had a more liberal view in regards to women's rights.

  10. This is the view from my dorm room. There is a Harrah's casino a few blocks down the street but I did not take a picture of that.
  11. Originally Posted By: inni Brave new world not what I was expecting What exactly were you expecting? I have been reading bits from my textbooks, just to be prepared for when class starts tomorrow. That reminds me, the "What Have You Been Learning Recently" thread seems to have been erased.
  12. I know very basic piano. I think if I were to learn how to play any other instrument it would be a sitar. I wish sitars were used more often in the music industry.
  13. I like the pictures, but could you please change them to links or make them smaller? They're stretching the page. Thank you.

  15. I picked up Superfreakonomics at a bookstore and finished it by the end of the day. I think the previous book is better though.
  16. We have not had one of these threads in two or three years, so I figured it was about time to start a new one. I also have a new computer, which means I also have a new desktop. Basically, just take a picture of your desktop and share it here. Fire when ready! Mine (I need more clutter on there.)
  17. An enormous calzone (It was about a foot long and I could only eat a third of it.) The following are from Mt. Rainier National Park: Frozen Lake (That's only partially true, obviously) Hooray for trees! Flowers
  18. The only web-comic I currently read is XKCD. Maybe I'll end up reading some more after clicking on the links provided in the thread. *starts clicking links*
  19. Yay! Long live the fluffy turtles.
  20. I listen to a lot of music, ranging from classical to grunge and most stuff in between. I've posted a long list of artists in a similar thread, but I lack the motivation to do so at the moment. My three favorite artists are The Beatles, Radiohead, and Mozart. I've recently finished four years of high school, in which I was a member of the choir the whole time, and participated in the regional honor choir as well as the Nevada All-State choir. Coincidentally (though not ironically ), I too am in a Rachmaninoff phase. I've been listening to his "Sonata for Piano and Cello in G Minor," Piano Concerto No. 3, and "Isles of the Dead" quite a bit lately.

  22. I found Exile II on a Mac Cubed CD as a kid, and liked a whole lot. When the Avernum games came out I bought them, remember how much I liked the previous series. I'm not a min-maxer, personally. I play casually and just like the story, though I am a completionist.
  23. I dislike MMORPGs to begin with. I tried KoL once but found that I just repeatedly hit things with a disco ball.
  24. Callie

    150 score

He probably just picked it because it has "3000" in it, since that's Nalyd's newly achieved post milestone.
