  1. Excellent! It's always nice to have more designers. ^.^
  2. Iffy pulls out a wash cloth and wipes the melon juice off and then grabs a pizza box for himself. He continues to design his scenario on his laptop as he eats. Iffy: Wait a minute. That can't be right... Code: beginconsumption 14;if (get_pizza(2,13) == 0) {pizza_dialog("This is some pretty good pizza. Mmm.","");activate_hidden_pizza(2);set_cheese(2,13,1); }break; Iffy: Perhaps I shouldn't eat while designing.
  3. I'm really liking the new editor. It's very nice being able to resize the window so I can see more of the terrain. One little quirk I've noticed though while editing the outdoors. When you hover over the option to set town entry boundaries, it says "place terrain script" even though it is still just the town entry.
  4. Iffy looks up towards Goldenking. Iffy: Oh, sorry about that. We're on the Spiderweb bus. Look around. Everyone's getting on. Well, minus a few people who are still missing. I suggest familiarizing yourself with the handy nearby gas masks, just in case. Iffy then proceeds to reach into the 5th pocket of his backpack. A few people around look towards him with odd expressions as they see the backpack stretch far more than it should to the appearance of an...oven? He proceeds to pull out a pan with delicious smelling goods. Iffy: Who would like some freshly backed cupcakes? The newbies look towards Iffy with glee. The oldbies conversely looked at him with expressions of horror. Iffy chuckles a bit. Iffy: Cupcakes. I said cupcakes. Far different from muffins. Besides, I let that go years and years ago. No obsessions and no attempts at baked good demon summoning here. Cupcakes are far more delicious, anyways.
  5. Iffy waves hello to Jewels and starts up a random conversation with Sylae. Suddenly the bus hits a pothole and sends the startled Iffy's coffee cup flying into the air and onto the seat in front of him, the spilled contents causing a scream. Iffy pulls out another cup from his backpack and continues drinking.
  6. Iffy notes Slarty's mention of Seattle. Iffy: I hear they have good coffee. Steps in.
  7. Quote: Which scenario has better town design: Twilight Valley or Muffins n' Hell? Heh. I haven't played most of what I've been seeing through refreshing the page. Perhaps I should go through more scenarios...
  8. Might be able to fix it if you mess around in WINE's sound settings. Can't remember if I got it 100%, but I'm sure I at least got it improved.
  9. I know Blades of Avernum worked with WINE on Ubuntu, though there might be some lag issues originating from sound issues. I've never tried any others, though there's no reason any of the older ones shouldn't work if BoA did. I suggest downloading the demos and trying for yourself. Alternatively, you could dual-boot with Windows XP. It's pretty stable (for Windows) and can play all of the games.
  10. My paranoia extends to that I will never, ever have a chip implanted into my brain. No matter how cool it would be to interface with your mind and have your health and energy bars to display at the top of your vision. There'd probably be a different way of interface, anyways. Maybe some goggles that detect eye movement or whatever. Or perhaps we could, gasp, continue the use of controllers. Touch screens will likely become even more common for that purpose. As for other computer advances, I'd love to see the rise of virtual world technology.

I effectively just cropped that part of an image, forgetting that it would decrease the quality to most other people.

Salmon, you landed there because your posts on the SW boards, in later years, tended to involve complaints about how things were being run -- much as with ET, Jewels, and a lot of CRF folk. (As I perceived things, anyway.) I did put you in SV as well because I wasn't sure of the better fit. Again, my goal is to break up the active user lists to make them easy to look over, not to make a precise social map of the boards. So the number of categories has to be limited. I see the need to limit the categories. However, the "anti-establishment" people and CalRef folk overlap, but they are not directly related. It is effectively like combining Aimhack and BoA would be. There are a few who are anti-SW, but most don't really care. I for one simply didn't feel like posting much at SW anymore, but stayed at CalRef due to the connections I made.
  15. Not at all surprised mine didn't place. I made it 3, 4 years ago? I never bothered to fix the quirks and add the stuff to prettify it that I was going to. And I've been working on something on and off for the past couple of years, but not sure if I'll ever get around to finishing it...

  17. Yay, I was somewhat noticeable. Though I'm curious as to exactly what you mean by anti-establishmentarians. Education leads to increased output and a higher standard of living, and regulation in key areas supports it. Then, coupled with regulation of people having children, the population could eventually be decreased to a lower reasonable number of around 1 billion. Of course, this probably will not occur and will take a disaster to wipe the population down to sustainable levels. We still have yet to find the optimal set up to allow only the intelligent people to lead and so are left with one-sided idiots who additionally cannot see beyond short-term. Corporations, many in government, most voters, etc.

The title peaked my interest, and I can't be arsed to check every thread so I chose it.

  22. I as well discovered Spiderweb from a disk similar to that. Exile 3 was one epic game back then. <3
  23. Ubuntu 11.04 64bit Wine 1.2.2 For all you linux nubs out there, when I run BoA with Wine, I run into sound issues and freezing. While the music always works perfectly, the sound effects only occur sometimes, and when they do, they don't fully play out. The game also lags and occasionally freezes when a dialog box is open. I've tried messing around with the Wine configuration, but with no luck. Any ideas?
