Articulate Vlish (4/17)

  1. I wouild like a spell like Essence Shackles, only stronger so that I can immobilize an enemy for at least one round. I seem to get nailed by this kind of spell, but can't throw one back.
  2. A Shaper assault on the Ashen Islands is plausible and makes sense. I also like the idea of the 'older' Drakons warning the Shapers of the impending doom idea. It does create interesting allies and a lot of opportunity for sides to switch, depending on the desire of the rebels and Shapers to band together or face ultimate doom. The Drayks and first generation Drakons are possible allies that may have their own hidden agenda and could turn on the Shaper/Rebel side if they had the chance to take control. The new generation Drakons would potentially have Unbound creatures at their disposal. Many options with this scenario. I like its potential.
  3. This happened to me a couple of times, but mostly because I got too excited in the heat of battle. Blood lust gets my clicky finger going! I have learned to save just before I get into a fight, so that I can replay the battle if I screw it up. I also have to slow down a little to ensure I am clicking on the right character.
  4. Ya I know it's irrelevant, but I just wanted to share it. I am just happy that there is a Mac version is out there. It seems like most games are PC based. Thanks to Jeff, there is a whole series of great games we Mac users can also enjoy. GF4 has certainly lived up to my expectations, so dance gleefully with your cats, you Windows people!
  5. Funny... I have never had a problem with a two-button mouse with my Mac. I use a Macally mouse and I have not experienced any little ghosts in my machine!
  6. I recently heard someone say,"If Bill Gates got a nickle for everytime Windows crashed...wait! He does!"
  7. So do you hang onto your points and accumulate them, or spend them right away?
  8. I guess I stand corrected. I thought that the skills cost more as you go up in each category. I was delusional! I could have sworn that when I had fewer points in some of the categories, I could dump some items and bring the cost down.
  9. I am sure I am not the first and only one to do this, but I discovered a way to maximize the allocation of skill points. Whenever I move up a level, I go to one of my safe areas and dump everything that I am wearing and carrying. This way I appear to be "bare" and the cost for each of the skills drops a little. For example, by dropping the Girdle of Strength, my Strength points drop down, which makes buying more Strength points cheaper. Like I said, it is probably nothing new to everyone else, but I thought it was a good way to spend my hard-earned points!
  10. Now that I have cleared most of the areas, I have been going back to collect charms and magic items that I missed earlier. I understand that the Lucky Charm is somewhere in Shardfield East (supposedly in the house). I haven't been able to find it. I also couldn't find the Cryoa Charm in the Eastern checkpoint even though I have killed everything in sight! I am suspecting that because I didn't know these items existed until I saw the list that 7Synergy7 put together, I missed the opportunity to nab these at the early part of the game. Or maybe I was too pro-rebel and they weren't available to me. It's not like I need these items, I just wanted to have the whole collection... kinda like a complete and matching set! That list is a FABULOUS piece of work, by the way! Extremely helpful. Well done! Without it, I probably would have wasted a lot of the enhancement items making less powerful items on the anvil, plus would have been struggling to find all of the ingredients for the Eight Artifacts. Three cheers for 7Synergy7!!!
  11. Having a learning disability does explain misspellings, etc. I will be more patient in trying to read the content of upon mars' postings rather that the syntax and semantics. Spell check won't solve these issues as it will allow proper spelling of words regardless of sentence meaning (i.e. 'kiln' instead of 'cling'). This should however make upon mars more diligent in ensuring that his postings are legible and clear. (Afterall, I wouldn't drive my car without glasses if I was myopic.) His postings do generate thoughts and discussion, which is the point of these boards.
  12. I, too, was dissapointed that I didn't gain more power by using the Geneforge. I think that having the Geneforge so accessible in the early part of G4 diminished the possibility of immediate and extreme alteration of power. Afterall, how much fun would the game have been if you were almighty at the start, rather than gaining power through experience and adventure? I think having access to the Geneforge at a later point in the game would have been more interesting for those of us who wanted to experience the same satisfaction of becoming omnipotent. As far as the club goes, its too bad that dissention has killed it! "If decade after decade the truth cannot be told, each person's mind begins to roam irretrievably. One's fellow countrymen become harder to understand than Martians." Alexander Solzhenitsyn
  13. The original thread here was to post ideas regarding the genre of a game as well as possible story scenarios, not necessarily the details of plot. In any game there will be those intricacies of who, where and why that enhance the general theme and make a game more interesting to play. To imply that we need to 'be informed' isn't really a great way to inspire brainstorming. I am sure that most people here have played different games and have returned to Spiderweb because of the appeal and fun that Jeff and company create. I think that generating ideas like those posted is not being 'kiln desperately' (whatever that means). Rather, these are just some thoughts on a particular genre. I, personally, am not stuck on any one idea and welcome all to be open minded.
  14. I know that I already expressed my thoughts about medival themes, and noticed King Athur mentioned. I would like to expand a little... The concept of starting out as a page or knight-in-training and then advancing levels to become a full-fledged knight might be interesting. Being able to acquire armor and swords, crossbows, short and long bows, mace and other such malicious war items which could be enhanced magically... all of these ideas fit nicely with the Geneforge concepts. Characters could range from sorcerors to witches to provide the magic component. What really would be interesting would be the ability to ride a horse. I don't know if Jeff could program that into the game, but it would add an interesting element.
  15. Well, I am a little bit frustrated and a little embarassed that I can't do this! I have been trying and trying (and trying) to slay our friend (fiend) the Titan. First, I cleared out the sentinals and shut off the power spires. Then I have tried to bump him off using various combinations of creations. I have gone into battle with Cryodrayks but that didn't work. I have tried a Gazer in combo with other Fire creations, but no luck. I tried Drakon and a Rotghroth, but again was defeated. I get close to the third regeneration of the Titan (only made it there once!) before he corners me and I'm hooped once again. I have cast Essence shackles, torrent gems, Wand of the Inferno, and Reapers.... everything in my arsenal. I try to get out of the area to re-power, but never make it to the exit before I lose. I believe that I am strong enough based on my level and the magic items I possess to do this (Gloves of Savegry, Legs of the Tyrant, Girdle of Might, Puresteel Blade (enhanced with stronger blows), Drakonian Plate and talisman of might, etc.), but am at wits end! Any suggestions?
