I never said the Awakened weren't sane; in fact, they seem to be the only ones who don't want to change/maintain the status quo through major warfare. I certainly don't mind that they want rights, but I never really saw that happening. I only do minor stuff against the Awakened in G2, and never enough to get on their bad side. I even do some missions for them. Other than that, I pretty much leave them alone. As for the Loyalists, I like them mainly because they offer a lot of training. The Takers and Barzites, however, are far too violent and narrow-minded for my tastes.

But as to which of G2 & G3 is longer, I'd say they're about even. G3 is definitely larger in overall area, so there's more places to explore; and G2 has more sects you can join, giving you more replay options.

I kill Zakary, the Barzites, and the Takers. I also go a little against the Awakened, though, but not much. I leave the Loyalists alone because they seem to be an island of sanity among the rest.

That's how I play, except I do do a bit of powergaming here and there, when the mood hits me. And cheat, to a certain extent.

Also, I don't think levels from equipment count either.

Cheating into areas in A2

I for one have been known to steal anything in the game that can be sold as long as it's not nailed down. For in-game theft, it's only wrong if somebody sees you.

With my extremely spell-heavy playing style, I need the ability to cast both mage and priest spells, so joining any group that allows the use of only one or the other is out of the question. Besides, as far as gameplay goes, I'm too broad-minded to join said groups to begin with.

Either that, or you act sooner in combat. Maybe it gives you +1 to quick action or something.

migration of game to a new computer

Then once your saved games are moved to Laptop B, you can play as normal. I should know, since I've had to move various saved game files first from Desktop A to external hard drive A and Laptop A, then to Desktop B, and then to my backup external hard drive B (formerly the hard drive from Laptop A, which I ended up having to reformat) and finally to Laptop B. -
Maybe it gives you a bonus to your dexterity? Then again, I wouldn't know, since I rarely if ever craft items.

I've found that pyroroamers are great for swarming a slightly stronger enemy; then when one explodes as it dies, the others (usually) get killed in the process and also blow up, which has the potential to do major damage to anything nearby. Having said that, when I actually bother to make creations, I prefer battle betas, ur-glaahks, and drakons. Battle betas are fairly good meatshields, as are drakons, though with the added benefit of a ranged attack when needed. Ur-glaahks are great for keeping fairly strong enemies in check as you beat them to death. Also, no matter what creation(s) I have, I always give them enough intelligence so that I control them, not the AI. If I don't, they usually run away and commit suicide on the largest creature in the area, leaving me nearly defenseless. I haven't played G4 that much (now that I've finally registered it), so I can't say anything about wingbolts and the like.

Eye patch? No, but I do wear glasses (I'm a little nearsighted). And when my previous post is read correctly, it's really my other eye that's deaf, not the ear. The "blind in one eye, deaf in the other" thing originated from a slip of the tongue I did about 8 or 9 years ago now, before I even knew these boards existed. The actual phrase I had meant to say as the time was something like, "blind in one eye, can't see out the other," and it came out, "blind in one eye, can't hear with the other." Since then, it's become a kind of running gag whenever I or someone I know is looking for something, and it turns out to be right in front of them.

Or at least say nice things.

You can tell which ornks to kill by the fact that they're hostile. Regular ornks won't attack you unless you hit them first.

Avernum 1 Bahssikava

Yes, it was rather nice to have a new dungeon to explore--not that I did as much exploring in E1 as I probably should have, truth be told. -

Although I find that you do move a little faster if you use arrow keys instead of the mouse. Originally Posted By: TJC Shaper i h8 those useless outdoor cows they do nothing. They're probably coded that way. -
How do I sell things?

That's what I do; I tend to have quite a cache after a while. -

That's one of the joys of Jeff's games: They have a large replay value.

I tend to favor spells quite highly, with a melee/missile weapon as a backup. I also prefer to play solo, but am not above using creations when necessary.
