Don't forget, the Shapers want to appear flawless to outsiders. Quote: Have you met a soldier that can defeat a wingbolt before? No. But then again, I've never met a Wingbolt either.
  2. Quote: Nalyd's Signature: Die soon and starve. Awwww. Seriously, though, have you had any canisters today? Because that signature seems a little backwards. Quote: Litalia was apparently able to train herself to become sane and normal again. Nalyd wonders how many therapists died doing that. Well, if she trained herself, the therapist casualty numbers are probably low. Innocent lackeys... not so low.
  3. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: People who generate wars are bad, yes. The drayk genocide wouldn't have happened without shaping. Also, the drakons wouldn't exsist, to wage a war, without shaping. Genocide is an extreme form of discrimination. And discrimination will exist wherever there are differences between humans, or other sentient species. Oh, and exist is spelled with one S. Quote: A rock or stick won't give you world domination. You're right. Technology has gone way too far for a rock* or a stick^ to dominate. Fact is, it's the people supporting the dominators that are granting them domination. If every person in the Shaper empire rose up at once, the Shapers would be gone within the month. But the thing is, only a small group of people are rising up. So the Shapers must be doing something right. -------------------- * Except for the rock Micawber mentioned. ^ This excludes divinely summoned sticks.
  4. Find where the three fishermen are sitting, and enter the building to the north. She should be in there somewhere.
  5. A Bulldoze button, which lets you remove creatures, items, specials, and other such things from a selected rectangle (Sort of like the fill rectangle button, but it deletes things). And maybe a Paint Bucket button, which changes every connected matching floor or terrain type to another floor or terrain.

Though my name may seem somewhat similar, however, I must stress that I am NOT a cell phone company. Thank you, and have a nice day. -------------------- I'm sorry, but I really couldn't help adding that last bit.
  7. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: Shapers wouldn't exsist without shaping. There wouldn't be a way to have such absolute control. Really? Have you seen the Empire in the Avernum games? Or any Empire, for that matter? Quote: Also, shaping will end up in the wrong hands and will lead to destruction. A rock could end up in the wrong hands and lead to destruction. A stick could too. Quote: Anything that generates wars is bad Nioca. Same goes for genocide. Shaping doesn't generate wars, nor genocide. Humans generate wars and genocide. Think about it, is there any other species on the planet that launches full-scale wars against each other? Or commits to crusades of annihilating a particular type of their own species? But that leads to this next question: Since you made the statement that 'Anything that generates wars is bad', do you think humans are bad?
  8. Not me. I just couldn't get into Athron's cave.
  9. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: Yes there are other tyrants but they didn't have wingbolts floating around killing their enemies. No. They have nuclear weapons instead. Quote: Canisters and the Geneforge are major factors. Yes, something that the Shapers tried to stop. Quote: Look at the difference between Litalia in G3 and G4. I wish I could, but I run Windows.
  10. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: Genocide wouldn't have happened without shaping because then there wouldn't be drayks. Canister crazy rebels wouldn't happe because there wouldn't be tyranny. Also, there wuld be no shapers to be tyrants. Without shaping to back the tyrants up, it would be hard to stay tyrants for long. Not true. Point in fact is that there are examples of each within our own, real-life history. And last time I checked, WWII was not started because of shaping, nor was the Holocaust's victims composed of Drayks. There have been several tyrants, a couple of which are still in power today. And canisters/Geneforges are not prerequisites to becoming a mad Rebel. Quote: Wars - It generates rebellions which leads to war. There would be less of them without shaping. Again, not true. There's been more wars in the past century for us, real-life beings then there have been in the Shaper world.
  11. I have no idea what you're talking about, but Colchis sounds familiar somehow... EDIT: Now I remember. The ruins of Colchis in the Krizsan province, right? Okay, now I know what you're talking about. In Colchis, there's a secret room in the stable that is home to a ghost. Talk to him, and he'll tell you the location of two objects hidden in Colchis that will help you fight the slimes. The first one is in a pillar of a building just north of the stables. The second is west of first, in a room with an anvil. Walk up to the anvil, and if your party has enough strength, you will get the second object. To get past the barriers, you need to destroy all four slime pools in the lower level of the slime pit. Once you do that, the barrier will fade, and you can fight the master of the pit. Oh, and this probably belongs in the Avernum Trilogy forum, since this pertains to Avernum 3, not Avernum 4. EDIT 2: You asked where Colchis is, not what to do there. It's just across the bridge from Silvar.
  12. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: Also, Shaping has created: Tyranny Mad Rebels Wars Genocide First off, I was under the impression that, until recently, the shapers had been very successful in keeping the peace. Wars suggests there's been more than one in the past 20 or so years. Secondly, the above items I quoted would likely have happened whether shaping existed or not. It just would have happened under different circumstances. I don't know if they would be better or worse, or when and how they happened, but they most certainly would happen.
  13. Quote: Originally written by Kyrek: Ya, they did start out with magic. But they also started with Shaping. They created all kinds of diseases and deformed there enemies. But that is changing life. That is shaping, which is what should be destroyed. Shaping and magic are tools, just like a sword or baton. They are not inherently good nor evil. It all depends on the person using them. If no one used them, then they would have no power over others. However, there will always be that one person who uses them, and generally not for good. Think of it this way. If you insure your house from fire, does that mean you shouldn't have a fire extinguisher?
  14. I have no idea. However, there's an underground tunnel that also leads to that room somewhere in the vicinity of Cotra. It's in or near one of the farmhouses.
  15. There's four or five tunnels that head down. One of them leads to a small tomb, while the rest lead to the chamber you need to enter. One of them does not have any traps. P.S: Beware the Shambler.
  16. Quote: Originally written by allonzoallegro: - Fort Draco Mines (I killed everyone I could reach) Here's your problem. You need to kill a spirit being in the lower level of the Draco mines. Also, remember that you need to report this to the general of Fort Draco. EDIT: I just remembered. You also need to contact a Vahnatai crystal in the lower levels of the Draco mines to complete the mission. You'll receive a mark on your hand when you do this. EDIT 2: Also, if you want to kill a creature that you've tamed, simply enter combat, click the Attack button (it has a drawing of a sword on it), and then click on the creature you want to attack. Remember that this will make that creature hostile. You can also do this with friendly people, but expect a nasty reaction if you do it in a town.
  17. I posted this in the other thread, but just to be on the safe side... Does Exile run in 640x480? If it does, simply locate the main application, right-click it, select 'properties' from the drop down menu, go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box that says something along the lines of 'Run this program in 640x480'. Then, every time you start the application, Windows switches the resolution for you. Hope this helps.

  19. Also, if you already have the aforementioned item and just can't kill them, wait until you get some more experience and better spells. Once you have Arcane Shield, Repel Spirit, and a nice arsenal of offensive and healing spells, you can take them down without breaking a sweat. Except for the Black Shade of Ice. That guy is tough no matter how you prepare. But if you keep your spellcasters/archers back far enough to avoid AE attacks by any of the Shades, and use several shielding spells on your warriors before having them engage, you should do fine.
  20. I'm more interesting in what 'diddling' meant. But for the help you received, you could have chosen a number of friendlier words or phrases to express your gratitude. 'Thank you', 'Thanks again', 'You suck'... You get the picture.
  21. Actually, blessing spells may also have some innate connection to shaping as well. They all require essence, and several of them could technically considered temporary augmentations. And lets not forget the spell so aptly named Augmentation. If that isn't some form of self shaping, I don't know what is.
  22. Actually, that brings up an interesting point. The Shapers are strictly forbidden from shaping themselves, yet their healing magic is basically a form of shaping. So when a shaper heals himself/herself, he/she is basically shaping himself/herself. Is something a little off with their rules, or is this a simple oversight by their council (aka, Jeff)?
  23. Also, I think it was mentioned somewhere in GF2 that the healing magic in the Geneforge world is really just a subsidiary of shaping itself.
  24. That's because Starrus gives you that quest, and because there's a quest in between Vahnatai Sighting and Rescue Vahnatai. You're supposed to fetch a crystal box north of Fort Emerald.
  25. It might also have been because the canisters on Sucia Isle were sitting there for 150 years. So it wouldn't be much of a surprise if they became a little volatile over the years.
