Well, you know, to make a closed curve back to the beginning of this thread, if everyone used the geneforge, then it also wouldn't be so dangerous, coz if one was evil and used it for evil purposes, some others might use it to prevent him - coz, providing everyone is at equal strenghths, for every disease there is a remedy or a prevention. In the meantime: Quote: Chairface wrote: Quote: Originally written by Anarhiztok: OH, yeah! Keep the secrets and if someone finds them, even by accident, just burn them all; and their families, especially little children, and everyone who's connected in any a small way with them. I must've missed the part of the game where they explain Agents kill entire families for one person learning magic in secret. More importantly, Agents are only dispatched when someone begins actively using unauthorized magic techniques. If you stumlbed on a Shaper book by accident and immediately handed it over to the Shapers the first chance you got, especially if you went out of your way to do it, I don't see anything in-game that shows they would actually execute your whole family just to make a point. ... Well, as I remember they wanted to kill every servile, human and drayk who was at the Sucia island... Quote: Emperor wrote: I do believe it is part of Taker doctrine to allow non-shaper humans to live, provided it is under drakon control. HMMM, i don't think that is taker doctrine - takers just wantED just to destroy Shapers, what you said became true only when drakons took over in G3 (not to be confused with the drayk - taker symbiosys of G2).

Well, since in G4 you start as a rebel and rebels believe in creations' rights and all, would something like this not be suitable? Or at least, as an idea, it should be so that as long as you'd want to be a rebel you wouldn't be allowed to absorb creations. Then you'd need somewhere to store them, release them or you'd have to keep them till they are killed by enemies - coz sending them to the minefield would also be inhumane - or inservileane, or something, since i heard something about you can be a servile.

OH, yeah! Keep the secrets and if someone finds them, even by accident, just burn them all; and their families, especially little children, and everyone who's connected in any a small way with them. COZ THAT'S JUSTICE AND FOR THE GOOD OF ALL! I just don't see how it is good for the ashes of those who were butchered. Well, don't get me wrong or anything, but if you keep the secrets, someone'll always find them out and then what'll you do? If you leave them be, your secret is revealed and you've a lot of trouble. If you don't want for your secret to come out you either kill them or destroy their life, along with the lives of the people they know, etc., in any other way. And thus you make it equally bad as if someone'd use your secret for malicios purposes.

Well, i've been looking at a2 again and i realised i never found a character named foley, who the mayor of formello talks about. I've never even noticed him in any of the walkthroughs. Does he exist, or was that mayor just making small talk?
-
Yes, that's true, but if it's secret only a handful of people will know or find out by luck on their own. And if these mean harm, then the geneforge will be in the wrong hands only, assuming the shapers don't use it anymore or just forget about it, like they did, of course. If a lot know about it, maybe someone could figure a way to counteract it, like make a generestore or something.

Well, I believe it's like with any other thing. If you do something wrong or something you're ashamed of, it can bring shortlived stability, but sooner or later, no matter how the secret keeping methods are strict, something has to come out, and then, I believe, it hurts you far more than it would if you came out clean at the beginning. And also, in my opinion at least, a person that admits the mistakes might get more confidence, but this is another topic ...

Patch - is it enough to have the version 1.0.1, which seems to be the newest one, or do I still need a patch? Quote: Originally written by Conqueror of Geneforge: Although Auto-save saved me some times. Yeah, I know it is a lifesaver - I just like to live dangerously.

Well, not a serious problem, it's just that i'm using a quite old pc (Win 98, 750 MHz, 120 MB RAM, etc.) and it's rather annoying when it stops for five or so seconds every now and then right in the middle of play.

Is there any way to disable autosave in a4??????

well, i don't know if it is really that, but do you have a ; sign behind the ) sign alter_stat(30000,53,1); otherwise if nothing works, just add alter_stat(30000,53,1); to any other code that happens only once - maybe another book and see if you get the spell now.

You can always edit the scripts - maybe there's something wrong with them - do you have the newest version of the game - can you find the script for the section you get this spell - look at the part where it says you learn a spell, is there a code = alter_stat(?,1); break; anyway, can you post that part of the script - the "text" and the "code"? edit: does your mage perhaps have heavy armor and not the trait (natrural mage???) that allows you to cast a spell even with that?

If you'd not be powerful enough, you can always return for the canisters, they won't go away unless for the first one you see just before freegate. -
Wow, that was a mighty generous act. I tried to edit the scripts so that i'd like save her and then she'd join me, but then i don't know how it will be in rising when you confront the murderers - well, maybe i'd pretend it was her ghost to join me.

Does someone know if g3 game is any different if you kill rahul after telling him you repaired the spawner. Does it have an effect?
-
I also voted for the crushing of the shapers. Basically coz they're evil - even more than ghaldrig (or whatever his/her name) and also coz if the series doesn't end now, the next game will come out very much later with all the plans spiderweb has. But the ending i'd really like to see'd be where you, together with the serviles, destroy both sides!!! Or maybe that you die and Learned darian dances on your grave.

Try being cooperative and talk to danelle (the purifying officer in inner keep). Give her notes on the golem in the darkstone core. EDIT: Isn't guardian claymore better??

Well, i didn't know the editors were scriptes been edited. I don't use them just because i want to know exactly how everything functiones and also i just edit as far as i need. Although they are a cool tool i think. As for editing, i edited both, the main two scripts and the town scripts - why?
-
hi again well, first of all, i didn't or at least didn't intend to say that you or anyone should edit scripts, i meant it to be done on a second playthrough or so (sorry, i was writing about it at two topics and maybe something slipped by). But if you reallyv want to, you can look at the scripts and see how it is done - every "coding" is done under the dialogue after code and before break - these two words have to be as they are - you can copy paste and then write your own codes. if it has to do with item, exp, stat, the code will have these words inside. at addind to stat - the first number is the number of stat - from 0 - 22 for str to luck (some numbers between are not used - don't know why, so just experiment a little) and the second is the amount to change - i believe if you want to lower stats (game too easy?) you need to put a - in front (-6 or something like that). for exp, the first number is the amount and the second the level - if yours is lower you get more and vice versa or you can write get_pc_level() or get_level_of_pc() i think, to give your self the exact amount. if you want more info, you can ask - but please, don't abuse it, it will really, REALLY spoil the game, because if you're too weak, you won't finish due to inability and if you're too strong, you won't finish due to boredom!!!
-
Well, about items and skill points, since it is possible to (editing scripts) give yourself more skillpoints, maybe you could also make a potion that'd use an ability that does that, but since that'd be more difficult and unnecessary, you can just give yourself the points and enjoy - although don't use this too much, as it can ofcourse spoil the fun - maybe it'd be useful to you, since you said you made a mistake - if you don't know how to do it and'd like to, i can tell you.
-
Well, i did it coz i edited the script one time, and, come to think of it, i didn't check, if i had any stat raising objects equipped, actually - maybe this was the cause?? EDIT: and i don't use editors, i just edit scripts! Another EDIT: i believe it was g3 and maybe also g2 ...
