  1. Hmm As far as I remember, your overall level doesn't affect if youcan learn a spell or not, it's just a level of a spell you know it at that matters! The trainers can teach you two levels of a spell regardless where you buy it, so if you already learned two levels of a spell at one trainer, the other one won't teach it to you. As for X, I think that he doesn't teach you dispel barrier, but tells you to go upstairs and learn it - I also had difficulty finding it, so be thorough. As for getting beat up, I think that weapon damage is calculated differently than in previous Avernums, although I'm not sure, all I know is that a weapon that does 1-4 damage is better than the one that does 10-20 damage if you have some skill with the weapon type. For example if you have 6 Archery (which is by the way finally very powerful in A4) and 6 Sharpshooter you will do average (4+1)/2 + (4/1)*(6+6) = 50,2 damage with the first bow and (10+20)/2 + (20/10)*(6+6) = 39 damage with the second one as I figure. I'm not sure this helps, but I hope it does at least a little. It would help if you also posted a more detailed statistic for your character(s),
  2. Well, for better to-hit chance of a creation, as far as I remember from experience and descriptions, you have to add more points to its strenghth, not dexterity, as the latter only improves its chances to dodge. Edit: 1) And I think that in terms of leadership 12 is enough for everything, but I'm not sure - if you're really desperate to know, you can check every get_stat(20) statement in the scripts. 2) About factions, try joining the one you agree with most and stick with it (switch only if the you find any other one who has better views). For example, you said you joined the awakened. Stick with them if you joined them for a reason, it really is harder, for they are not as powerful, but in the end, you have a nice feeling of satisfaction that you helped the nice serviles who only want peace and rights they deserve.
  3. Well, I know what you mean - it took me ages to find a nice party for the trilogy, but a couple of weeks ago there started reports of sightings of a mysterious quartet consisting of a slith couple; a warrior (pole weapons obviously) and a mage; that teamed up with a nephil sharpshooter, who also uses melee weapons decently, and is led (the party) by a renowned slith cleric Assotho, who specializes in priest spells, but has recently started to use pole weapons and mage magic, all over the known and less-known lands of Avernum. Merely months later, the Empire-Avernum war ended. Edit: Oh and sorry i should stick to the topic - all the sliths are around 2 meters tall, a nephil is a couple centimeters higher. And NO!!!!! THIS IS NOT MAKE-UP ON ASSOTHO'S NOSE, HIS NOSE IS PERFECTLY OK, OK?! DON'T EVER ASK ABOUT IT AGAIN!

  6. I know it is a derail of a topic, but in my opinion the gf3 PC is the founder of the Trakovites and showing that Greta and maybe even Alwan don't want to talk about him/her is the proof that they partially sympathise with their cause - well at least Greta seems as such sometimes.
  7. Cylon: Well, it does have a very unpleasant consequence if you like Khur!
  8. Don't read if you've not finish the Moseh quest! . .. ... .... ..... ...... ....... ........ ......... .......... ........... ............ I mean it! ............ ........... .......... ......... ........ ....... ...... ..... .... ... .. . OK! It's your choice Speaking of Khur - did anyone notice that when fighting Moseh, the dialogue box says that Khur dies when Moseh strikes him after he breakes loose. But he didn't die - he had just a few HP remaining, ok, but he survived. Is this a bug?
  9. Is it possible there's something wrong with your registration, coz I b elieve Dry wastes and wooded valley are the first places you can visit that require registration.

And for what i'd like - the open game like A1 or G2! And perhaps some new (ancient) race - or at least the ruins suggesting them - they don't need to be powerful or anything, just new. Oh yeah, maybe also some newly discovered terrain ... (maybe even revisiting the vahnatai - their area always seemed so creepy to me ...) And keep the decent balance between archers and fighters - finally it pays to have an archer - good for diversity! And let's not forget: KEEP THE GIFTS! It's nice to be loved at least somewhere in such a hostile environment as averenum!
  11. Hey, I just remembered this nice ol' game and started to wonder: Does anyone know if there were any more scenarios of the series by alcritas after tomorrow? Coz i remembered just how much i liked the story ...

  13. Yeah, I also thought it'd be like that, but then, why does a shaper have cr_max_essence 10 and guardian and agent 40?
  14. I just have one question - what do maxhealth and maxessence, or something like that, mean in the main game script? I changed the values and nothing seems to change.
  15. Bloody stupid! Can I delete the message - I reposted it accidentally.
  16. Well, a servile is definetly a very nice addition. I figure it'd be a warior/mage type? I gathered, there is no mage/shaper class, right? Too, bad, I was hoping for it. But I guess it'd be too powerful. Maybe in the 5th game you could pick a, for example drakon or an eyebeast class, which'd be like that. Anyway - is there a list of all the creations anywhere yet?
  17. Hey! Is there something wrong with my eyes, or did, on one picture, a pleayer really have a couple of drakons, a drayk, a roamer and a couple of those new things? That must be very late in the game, or ... ?
  18. Did you rescue any specific group of persons on gull isle?
  19. If you still want the walkthroguh you should go to the main gamefaqs page www.gamefaqs.com www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin and continue from there. It's very useful!
  20. Quote: Originally written by the Great Potato: That actually sounds really cool. If you get a chance to kill the night enemy, why shouldn't he have the chance to kill you? Would you be on a time limit (say 8 turns) to kill him, and if you didn't that would be failure? Thanks, and yes, i thought there'd be a time limit, yes. Like 16h daytime and 8h night time - so, twice the amount of time for day and once for night. Or even less, coz falling asleep and waking up takes some time too . Important: There was meant to be only one PC in the party. Kelandon and Ephesos: That also sounds to me like a very nice idea. Or,what about that: If you had your Mom for a second PC, but she'd just wake you up in the morning (or revive you if you die), but otherwise the party'd be split. I saw it being split in Mad Ambition, so I know it's possible. But what i do not know is if when the party is separated and the active one dies - do you lose, or what? You probably do, right?
  21. Well, i know it's not directed at me, but i believe even the experienced ones had to become this way. You have to start once. You've really got nothing to lose if you apply. Other than your sanity, but i think losing that was a condition to enter the boards, so ...
  22. Well, the thing is, I'm triing to make a scenario to feature a day stage followed by a night stage, followed by a day stage, and so on. The purpose of a night stage would be to face an evil presence (probably your own temptations, bad habits, etc.) that haunts and drains you by day and prevents you from functioning normally. I know it may sound silly and uninterresting by some (i hope not too many though) players, but i think it might be interresting whenever completed. So, every night you'd have a chance to destroy your enemy, but if you failed (even got killed in combat), you wouldn't die, but just wake up; maybe even a little weaker .
  23. So we lucky windows users can still complain... Yeay!!!
  24. Is there any code that would allow you to revive all characters after they all die? So that when the last one is killed by any means, they'd just all be revived.
  25. Well, I got an idea and want to write my first scenario - don't worry, I tried to make a big one once, and I learned my lesson - so it will be a short one. I just stumbled upon one detail I cannot solve. I want to make a certain event or a special that would occur if let say, hypothetically, your dexterity is high enough. But to avoid setting an exact amount, I wanted to make it more likely to happen if your dex is higher. Like for example: (dex x 5)% of happening or something So that even if you hadn't 20 dex it could happen - you would just need to try more times, like rolling dice, if you get what I mean ... Thanks in advance ------------------------------------ Look! It's my one hundredth post! A time for celebration! ... Or is it?
