That, and he said he'll never write any game like Blades again (with scenario editor). If you've tried making your own scenario, you can understand why; and also you can understand why there are far less scenarios and successful designers for boa than for boe.

From wictionary: English: geas (Noun) (Gaelic mythology): 1.: A vow or obligation placed upon a person. 2.: A curse. geas (Suffix) (f, gen geis/geasa, pl geasan) enchantment, sorcery Also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geas That's what i meant by losing freedom. And furthermore, you can try it and you'll see what I meant. Oh yeah - here is how you try out for yourself without ANY consequences: Click to reveal.. Don't get geased until finished with drayk pillar region - and DO NOT go under harkins landing - or at least DO NOT do anything regarding Anemona (I think that's her name.)!!! And then, when you're through with everything in this region and have the permition to leave for the next area, DO NOT go to that area just yet. Instead SAVE YOUR GAME and go to Gladwell to try his geas. You'll see if you like it and it's effects. By doing it this way, you can easily decide if you want the geas or not.
-
Well, the geas IS a gamble. Click to reveal.. While you gain a few stat boost and, mind you, a few very good items, there are certain (HUGE) drawbacks. It's as you figured - some towns will hate you, and I'm not sure if the cheat helps. And, since you're roleplaying, you lose your freedom by accepting the geas, which is a major bad thing. And in addition to that, you get to kill a very lovely and defensless drake, which is an ugly murder. Do you relly want to become a bad person just to fulfill some idiot's will? Oh, and also: Click to reveal.. You could also take the geas after you complete the lands in which said drake resides (after you find the next teleporter, that is.), coz for the next two items you don't have to kill or harm anyone and also by the second item don't need to enrage any city. And more importantly, in the lands where you can find the second item, you also have backdoor access to Gladwell and can kill him and also end the geas, but I don't have any idea on how to do that. Oh yeah, you also lose the stat boost when you get rid of the geas. Hope that helps any.

No more "Lousy G4 Creations" please.

I still say Drayks are the best companions. At least they are intelligent and ond once you get used to those "sssssss" sounds, they are very nice conversation partners. -
I don't know if there even is a cheat for more money - unless you give yourself millions of cakes and sell them You can edit a script of for example the shopkeeper in the village outside of the school (Southend?), so that you add a line where you can ask him to give you, let's say, 1000 coins. That would be very easy to do.
-
Btw: Are the turrets shaped? Or are they grown?
-
You can also convince the drakon that meets with you and talk him into calming the serviles, so you need not kill anyone! Of course this would perhaps only work if you're pro-rebel. I wouldn't know otherwise. Btw: The drakon is very simple to fight and win if you get help!
-
You can always add them (and possible other missing items) via the scripts - if you really had them it shouldn't count as cheating. Maybe tictures are missing coz they're the cheapest? It used to be that the cheapest items got deleted/hidden first. And then so on.

Speaking of old people. There was a long-term study that finished recently, where they put old people (80 or so) into two groups. The first one was just a control group (did everything normal), but in the second group they started learning a new language (the one they haven't learned before). And after some time they withnesed that at the second group of people their brains grew and their brain cells multiplied much more rapidly. And also, at least some of them learned to speak a language fluently. And there are also cases when 80-year-old people learnedto use a computer like kids and ever learned how to write programmers code. And no, these are no miracles, every person is capable of doing it, it just depends on the will of a person (and perhaps it also helps to be open-minded, which, frankly, a lot of people today are not). And you also used the word "trained" and "multi-task". When training in something, your brains are very active, but when coming into a situation where you can react solely by "trainmed" reactions, your brain tends to not become very active at all. Your brain activity increases by a lot only when you are faced with a new situation and even then only when you start to think in new ways (in those you haven't before). That's again very evident by older people. Those who don't use their brain a lot they quickly lose the ability to function or even increase their chances to get dementias and such. But on the other hand people who are very active, they don't exhibit such attributes, or at least to a very lesser extent. A good example is my grandmothers friend, who is well over eighty, but she still teaches, sings, writes new songs, has recently started a shift in eating habits ... does a lot of new things. And when you talk to her, it's as if you were talking to a thirty-year-old. And about multi-task - what did you mean by that, what sort of tasks?

For me the hardest fights were always the ones in the first couple of zones. Even toughest creatures can't compare with a fire-breathing fyora or a gigantic thahd that makes a pancake out of you in the third zone of g1. Actually thay make quite a good team the fyora and the thahd. The latter flattens you in a pan, while the first provides a fire. Enjoy your meal!!!

This five percent only refer to people nowadays, since our society enforces specializing in only a narrow particular field. And the other reasons are we entrust our daily activities to machines more and more (calculators, computers ...) and we are taught to react to the surrounding environment (and situations) based solely on our experience. Therefore majority of people have no need to think. It is a proven fact that all natural systems "submit" to the principle of minimum action (or tend to be in the ground energy state). Therefore parts of people's brains that are not in use for some time become idle. But when an openminded person is facing a totally new challenge, their brain activity increases; especially given the challenge is all-around. Does anyone get what I mean?

Speaking of Icy roamers, there indeed are guardian roamers, rabid roamers and also roamer sentries and a one-time ruby roamer (the latter two in gf3 - dhonal pass and south of east harmony docks (the first roamer you encounter)) Also, come to think of it, there are also crahrged (at least) artilas and fyoras, infested (at least) drayk (which is basically a drayk who had the unfortune of becoming a new shelter for some poor homeless worms), numerous worms, rats (it actually says in gf2 they are escaped creations), special creations (from "bonus" areas (titan ...)) ... Anyway, if anyone put together a poll containing all the creations from gf games, a lot of people would lose their mind before reaching halfway through. So, I think if you want to make a complete poll, make creations you remember and add a "other" or a "i've a big heart and i love all creations" or something like that as an option.

ADOS: You forgot Heustess, he is (sort of) shaped. And also Battle Gammas!!! And what about the shades - the are made, are they at least a bit alive? Oh yeah, pylons! Otherwise, I vote for Cryodrayks, they are so blue and everytime I'm in the presence of one, I get shivers.

G1 - So many living tools! AAAAGH!!
AnarhIztok2511 replied to Janitorial Closet's topic in Geneforge Series
You also must not have any living tools in your inventory before you get this one and you should never get any other one when you already have this one. Click to reveal.. That's best acchieved that you drop it before getting any rewards that could be living tools, although i think this is quite rare. Click to reveal.. Maybe the best thing to do is to type reward_give(255) at the seardh function of your computer at the second spot ("word or phrase") and leave the name field empty (at least that's how it's done on windows) and then you'll see all the areas and rewards that give you living tools. But still, it may be considered cheating and may spoil your game, although you still need pure mechanics for traps. -

Quote: 15, around ~30, 5, etc. living tools. Actually all you need is one living tool for the whole game. -
In response to Sleeping Dragon talking about slaughtering innocents Well, you know, you don't need to kill anyone of them, not the people, nor the beasts. You know how? Easy: Click to reveal.. Use one of your hasted as much as possible (spell, disciplines) persons to stand at the first gong and push it in combat mode when his/her turn starts and then said person (and maybe one or at most two more - at least one has to stay behind at every gong) just runs through the gate and then you repeat at the next gate until you reach the leader (who is not hostile). Next comes the most boring part when you have to wait for others of your party to be beaten to unconciousness (maybe you can speed things up by removing their armour). When only the speedy character is left concious, just end the fight and speak to the leader of the cult. She will let you escape without bloodshed. Additionally you can grab the rewards if you are able to move your other characters in their reach.

Sorry, I didn't know, but I wouldn't've actually count them as spoilers, I just wrote a warning if someone might ... Oh, I saw it now.
-
There might be some point, some people would regard as spoilers, especially about the outside rebels, but since you asked: Fist things first: There is nothing you are supposed to do (other than finish the game ) and there can be a satisfiable ending for every sect - I found the most satisfiable the one I didn't count to be so, so be ready for surprises - the game deserves at least one playthrough, so you can try different factions. And when you say Takers are murderous and insane, if you think thoroughly, no faction is really sane (Obeyers want to worship and obey someone, who they've not even seen and probably doesn't even care about them in the slightest, Takers want to kill those who they believe oppress them even if it means their doom, and Awakened want to be equal to the at that time strongest force in the world, to which they may be so insignificant it could just step on them for fun.), and no one is really clean. I myself prefer to join the Takers (But only after I visit and do everything I want at the outsider rebels and wooded alley, and never return there. You can get past East Kazg even if you're not a Taker, I don't remember, but there IS a SIMPLE way.). They may seem mad, but they are just and play openly without hiding their emotions etc. Once I also joined the Awakened, but never Obeyers - as I've never joined any Shaperish faction in latter games - I don't know, I just can't . Some things that even some (very little) more people could consider spoilers: * + + + ++ + + + + + + + + + + + + + ++ + + + + + + + + + ' + '+ 0 0 '++ + 0 9'+9 +9 + 89 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 here it is: Click to reveal.. Furthermore I must warn you that "the other Shaper" is quite strong and not too easy to kill without any cheating - I managed it after a lot of reloads. Btw: You don't even need to join any faction, even if you want to meet with Trajkov, although it is quite hard, since there are a lot of misstrustful Sholai in the way. Also, you can join all the factions - the easiest being first to talk down to serviles (I avoid talking philosophy with the Vakkirians and wait 'till Pentil) and joining the Obeyers. And then, after getting as much as you can from them, join the Awakened and the the Takers. Click to reveal.. ps: A warning - when heading to Pentil, come from the south (Pentil woods?), since coming from the west (killing a lot of artilas and thahds) will prevent you a quest (and therefore a reward).

By Slarty G4, On Litalia: "You can see that she has been heavily modified. She has used many canisters. Perhaps the Geneforge as well. She has the vacant stare, the glowing eyes, the waxy skin. But she is also calmer, more serene, than those so heavily remade." She says: "I did many things. Terrible things. We all did... This haste kept us from acting... As justly as we could." "I stopped using the canisters. I did not like the effect they have... Our bodies were not meant to be changed so... I am beginning to sound like a Trakovite, or a similar idiot. No. I simply stopped using the canisters. And I began to rebuild myself... I studied and relearned how to have emotions. And how to be patient. When not giving orders, I practice being a person again." "The Trakovites may be right. They may be wise, and virtuous, and ahead of their time." And so, Litalia meets Khyryk, they marry and have a lot of kids and they shape Shorass a mate, so that they are a happy family. (couldn't resist) Really, I'm not so sure the Trakovites will return as they are. I think that they could merge with the moderate rebels (Litalia, Greta, Serviles, maybe even some Drayks, who've seen that Drakons are actually new Shapers). Or some of them could become really orthodox, like Anama in the Avernum universe. But it's really hard to tell, there are numerous possibilities. For one, I also think that there's something bound to happen with the Drakons - maybe the young ones decide to overthrow Ghaldring and the old ones, so the latter have to become more moderate and continue on what they've started (Fighting for the Serviles in G2.). The Trakovite ending said, they start rethinking their role under the pressure of reason from the other creations and humans, as I remember. Even the Shapers, I believe, will fall apart. I think it's really too much to speculate. But I'm sure anything Jeff does, will undoubtedly be good. Oh yeah, to return to the topic - I think that the Rebel ending is as much a stalemate as a Trakovite ending, just that there is more destruction and less sanity - in other words, the war deepens and the emotions darken. As it was at every new installment, as I believe.
-
Hey! Has there been a solution found (or even sought), how to prevent Litalia to attacking you in the Geneforge, when you are a rebel? If not, today I played to that point again and I figured all you need to do is to change one sign in z87lit.txt in the scripts. You have to change the "==" with ">" where it says if(... && get_flag(87,1) == 0) somewhere towards the top of the file. You cannot miss it. Sorry, if it's old news!

About your question - is there possibly some other pylon in those two zones?

What is better Shapers or Rebels?
AnarhIztok2511 replied to I9am8shaper7hear6me5roar49's topic in Geneforge Series
Heh, at first I ignored completely this thread, but then today I saw it's always at the top of the Geneforge 4 forum, so I looked at only the last page, and I have to laugh. But still, putting all other stuff behind, don't you realize, that the games are meant to be morally ambigious (i hope i spelled it right), and that that's it. One one hand you have a group that wants freedom and equality, but are willing to do almost anything to acchieve it, and on the other hand you have a group who want to be gods and have all other beings as slaves or worse, but they managed to create a peaceful, although mindless and castlike (i meant to say here, that the society resembles the Indian society with castes), society. And therefore, since people are (thankfully) not of a single mind, there will always be different views. Still, it is remarkable how convincing some of you can be in this virtual environment that internet has become. I wonder how many of you take such firm stances in you real lives as well. -
Yep, that's where. But its ok, i just gave kass the ability to heal one point of it every time you ask him - the message is always present at the beginning of the conversation. But i seem to have a bigger problem now - when i finish the fight in which legare dies there is an unhandled exception error after the "Goddess" transports the party and Pithoss back to the camp. Unhandled exception: c0000005 At address: 004492b8
-
What exactly did you change? And how many things? For i found that in the first two geneforges you can not edit the file too much - i don't know why, maybe it has something to do with the file size, but i am by no means sure. Oh, and how does it crash - the game ends or it just says something like "gforscen.txt:error in line xxx" and you can still play, bnut everything is screwed up?
-
Thank you to both! You were right Dikiyoba, it really did remove one point of itself as well, which was ironic, coz i couldn't have gotten rid of it! I had to edit the script. But anyway, it is ok now!
