  1. Just be sure to be ready in combat mode since he has a lot of quick action or dexterity to attack first and do high damage. You have to do over 400 points of damage to get him to back off and survive to round 2. Nice gloves, but I was in finish up mode and didn't need them any more.

  2. I'm still waiting for Jeff to get around to installing my free spycam so I can ask him whose been playing with my computer when I'm not around.

I see Apple has them in the new computers so Jeff just has to download the images when you log on to the boards. Didn't you ever wonder why there are more delays when you open a thread?

  3. I only used cheats three times. Once in Exile 2 when my saved file had a glitch where I was trapped through no fault of my own. In Blades of Exile I accidently rolled past the money cap into negative money and didn't want to collect enough to give me positive cash flow. The last was in Avernum 2 where it was my fault and i didn't want to start over so I recharged my spell energy and went out to redo the dungeon properly.

I hate to use a cheat, but sometimes after weeks of work you just need to do it.

  4. The one who tells you the Big Secret is barely able to talk. There was one big hint in the Temple to the north on a pylon and some minor hints scattered through the wastes. It does resolve the Geneforge and Avernum worlds are probably separate.

Still it was worth the effort.

  5. I enjoyed the Exile versions more than Avernum. I agree that you should play the games in order because the older games seem poorer because of the interface. But play whatever seems fun since you might as well enjoy yourself. Each game has something fun.

  6. It really depends upon the player. I've played in Torment mode and found that you can get through the games if you think a bit and take your time when playing the tough fights.

Geneforge is easier to die in and you have to stay in combat mode most of the time when exploring. Avernum is more forgiving of mistakes and lets you spend most of the time out of combat mode and just exploring.

Jeff thought Avernum 4 would require a team effort, but it's possible to play as a singleton. You can make the games as challenging as you want by choosing how to approach the games.

  7. Go back to the corridor that runs from behind the quickghast throne to the ruby skeleton/wight area. Start searching for secret passages going towards the center. Magic map helps show the area you want. The sealed corridor on the east side is useless.

  8. The two extra characters in Exile are useful because of how the game engine deals with treasure that falls on the floor after killing a monster. In Avernum, unless it's a wilderness encounter from A1-3, the treasure remains to be picked up later. In Exile the treasure is always gone when you leave the area. The extra characters allow you to pick up more loot so you can finish off a dungeon and never need to come back. OR you can keep redoing a dungeon for the monster treasure and experience, but that becomes boring.
