A3- Xian items
Randomizer replied to Velzan's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Where do you think Jeff got the idea? Although some of the Sylak items were useful. All those years of think about anvils had warped X's thinking. -
2011 is shaping up to be a busy year. Min/max of the skill tree will be interesting since you have a choice of getting to the top of the tree or improving the bottom for different results. The will be lots of replayability with 4 different starting classes and finding the best tactics for scripted fights. I hope Jeff doesn't clamp down this time when beta testers find solutions he doesn't expect.

Jeff pretty much went out of his way to kill everything since this is the last one in the series. There may be a prequel taking place before this time.

A6 - Not Finding hidden enemies and areas
Randomizer replied to Daisy Munchkin's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
The ogre encampment near Mertis should have everything accessible if you open the gates. The areas near Rentar Ihrno's keep may open up when you reach certain places. Some monsters are spawned once you hit a trigger point. -
If you were able to get the Repair Moseh quest from Alwan then you could go see the others in their bunkers and do quests for them to avoid the loss of stats. You will have other dialog options. If you had a rebel enough reputation there was a servile that you could have recruited to suck up one of the lost stats. Either way you need to go down the northwest corridor to switch off the system that is protecting Moseh. If you don't have enough mechanics then their is a servile in the room you past that can do it. Then you still need to fight Moseh or repair him.

Alien beasts - a3

Look around to the southeast for stairs. Some things are just secret. -

You need to visit Blackcrag Fortress to gain access to the plague source. -
A3 MEEEEELLLPPP!!!!!
Randomizer replied to Velzan's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Well you lose out on a nice reward of access to dispel barrier from the Mayor. You could just continue killing everything in sight and find another way out instead of the front door or the barrier in the lower level. There is too much loot for one trip anyway. -
stand still animations, and smooth square transitions
Randomizer replied to Gu554k Th0r D3lum's topic in Avadon Series
Jeff hates putting time into animations since it requires creating more animations for each character doing each action and intermediate steps. Avernum 4 is the best example where he just grabbed all the Geneforge sprites and used them even when they didn't make sense. Using clawbugs for chitrachs, nooooooo. -
Geneforge2 : Agent - supposed to be this hard ?
Randomizer replied to karry's topic in Geneforge Series
By that level you should have concentrated on spellcraft to raise the effectiveness of all magic spells and only raise battle magic and mental magic to acquire spells. Geneforge 2 was the last game where you could only daze one opponent at a time. So charm is still better than daze. You are better off killing them by creeping up to get only one attacking you at a time. -
I've done a solo agent when I first started and got through almost everything. You have to stay in combat mode most of the time in certain places just to keep spawning at a reasonable level and be able to attack before the rogue creations suddenly swarm you. There should be a topic somewhere that has Delicious Vlish's comments on how he did it. Mostly it involves moving up slowly to pick off foes one at a time.

Jeff starts with a big advantage since we don't have any idea how big the world really is this time. Still I hated walking a few squares over to the next town in a seamless world.

If it works than there will be a real difference between normal and torment than the boredom of waiting for the monster to drop.

You can do it by 7th level if you come here early.

Save Game File Avernum 6, where is it?
Randomizer replied to Daisy Munchkin's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
At worst you can do a search for all files named Avernum 6 or save, but it should be in My Documents under Spiderweb Software. Jeff changed it from being under the game name by itself. -
For the Chuckling Demon, did you go to the second place along the way to the tomb? Nazil should be sitting in that shop west of Silvar and north of that bridge cadging bags of meal. I never had trouble finding either.

Does Spiderweb Games cause players to have obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or do only players with OCD come here?

A6 - A strange idea for character builds.

That is a special case where you wait for the mage to summon monsters and then you use control foe to turn them against him. This also works with the Tunnel Horror. -

Randomizer replied to Mukwa's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
Go see the priest in Dharmon for some blessings to get weapon skills since those don't affect training or skill point buying. That should give some of your characters battle disciplines. Get control foe at Patrick's Tower and the mage east of the Castle will be easier. -
The only way I could see a market for iPad games is if Jeff could make a port fast enough to be one of the few games playable on it. Then he could make some sales before the prices drop.

If you work towards finishing the quests to get to the trainers then you can quickly advance after that point. Spells will help at the start. -
Registration codes are included automatically in the CD- ROM versions so you don't have to enter a code to get access to the full game as you would with the download versions. A manual is included in the game folder, however the information that you mentioned isn't in the manual.

Melee attacks by the ice wraith are less damaging than missle.

The spells seem to be a throw back to the older Avernum games where the higher level versions do different effects than the lowest level version. The example is daze becomes control foe. Hopefully you can choose between the two or more versions.
