  1. it was in lower case. And since no one else has said it, bah humbug to all.

It's funny how neuroscience just reeks of legitimacy. People don't even question it when a scientist uses an fMRI to tell them something about the brain. I just wonder what will happen when a person says that he like Coke but an fMRI image of his brain says that he likes Pepsi. Are they going to believe the person or his brain? That's why the research into using fMRI for lie detection is going to fail. There is too wide a variation in how different people's brains react to be able to make absolute statements.

  4. Gamersgate has Geneforge 5 on sale awhile ago. A reviewer picked it up there and mentioned it.
  5. Wayback Machine is really bad about saving graphic files. Google cache is better for that.
  6. It's much cheaper to buy and best of all it doesn't raise the skill point cost if you buy individually from a trainer or use skill points in regular training.
  7. You can click on the spell/trait page for your characters and click on the spells to see the minimum required levels for spells you haven't learned. I think control foe for priests and dispel barrier for mages the only high level spells in the demo area.
  8. Hooray for an educational spam milestone event.
  9. The registration and save files should be in other locations than the game folder for Avernum 6. Uninstall/reinstall shouldn't affect them. The saved games should be in My Documents.
  10. Marx thought that communism would start in the industrialized Western Europe or United States which where already closer to his goal than agricultural Russia or later China. In skipping the steps of transitional governments they moved more towards dictatorships that imposed a pseudo communist government.

Can it be tuned so that enemies have some special skills making us to seek new tactics for every battle? Hope so. Avernum is great game, but a bit monotonous. Hope Avadon will give good changes we've been promised. The battle system is challenging. You get a choice on how you want to die. Get killed by sword or spell.
  13. Quote: Carter was a frigging peanut farmer That isn't a poor man's profession. They make a decent living even without the agricultural subsidies. Quote: Clinton was the son of a poor salesman Clinton and his wife were both lawyers. The whole Whitewater scandal was about them trying to get rich quick in a real estate deal where they put up almost no money.

If more voters just ignored TV ads, there'd be no problem with plutocracy. In explanation to why we have to suffer through all those ads. A campaign consultant said that it takes 10 airings of the same commercial to get a message to stick in the voter's mind. Getting the time to repeatedly run the ads cost money so if a candidate wants to use television, then he needs lots of money.
  15. Fireblast is in the main building, dispel barrier is up the staircase in the same room as Kelner.
  16. This is true, however you don't need more than 17 or 18 in mage or priest to learn all the spells.

  18. Radiant items were supposed to give a bonus versus undead in Geneforge games, but testing never showed any. No bonuses for completing a set.
  19. The only one that restocks is Silverlocke if you buy her entire inventory. In A3, Levy in Fort Emergence is supposed to have an infinite supply of items for purchase including items that you sell him. I never tried either of these. Unless you really waste potions, you should have enough for the game.
  20. You can get training in dual wielding, but not for a long time and it will be expensive. The extra damage is worth having dual wielding for fighters. Also the higher the level you have the lower to hit penalty and damage reductions are for using two swords. A long discussion with testing to show it's effects.
  21. Hit points and spell energy will be the same whenever you increase it. However the formula changed so you get more hit points as you increase endurance than in previous games where you could cast augmentation and essence armor to get extra hit points.
  22. Avernum 6 is the only game in the series where you see a substantial increase in hit points in the early part of the game. All spellcasters should increase intelligence since it gives them a larger amount of spell energy so they don't need to return to town to recharge or waste energy potions. The game gets harder as you go through the demo area so leveling up helps. Weapon skills for the fighters and mage and/or priest spells should be increased so you can learn higher level spells. Bows are weak, but there are plenty of places where range attacks are the only ones.

  24. Cavequakes. The change in game engine between the first trilogy and the second accounts for the compacting of Avernum. Then Jeff only included the areas he wants and shrinks or omits less important areas. Between A5 and A6, the area around New Harston to the Blackchasm Fortress shrunk dramatically.
