  1. Actually, I would swig it out of a bottle I kept in a drawer under the computer (how unorthodox!). I used to drink peach vodka as I played. And by vodka, I mean 70-proof CRAP. $14 for a handle. McCormick's, which I actually love. Just don't spill it. So sticky and sweet. Tend to hit my head on the desk, swaying madly. And how can you put "balance" and "drinking" into the same sentence? Damn "straight" lines, they move them under your feet. Sneaky cops. Er, can we talk about Geneforge though? I was really liking the war-waging, with troops at your disposal and stuff.
  2. No. When I'm intoxicated* I do other stuff. But drunken attempts to play any Geneforge title proved difficult, given the reading and the fact that I forget what I did. Much better, I tore the counter surface off my bathroom sink in a burst of herculean might, then passed out on the floor. Incidentally, has anyone noticed that each Geneforge title has more drunks than the previous one? GF1 doesn't have any that come to mind. GF2 has Zoka and some other serviles. GF3 has a few significant NPC's and a whole inn of sailors who are "sleeping off the near-suicidal amount of alcohol they consumed the night before." * intoxicated: inebriated, drunk, buzzed, crapitated, under the influence, sloshed, toasted, hammered, pissed, ****ed up, ****faced, creamed, blitzed, blasted, blottoed, wasted, lit etc.
  3. As long as we're so pathetically off topic: I have always hated the way the serviles looked, with their big, pointy noses. A little too inhuman for me, you know? Who agrees? I think they should look more childish, and live up to their name. And now for one of my characteristic sketches: Didn't turn out how I expected. Tried to make a fat, sad looking creature.
  4. The uh-oh was a joke. Can't blame you for thinking otherwise, it's tough to detect e-sarcasm.
  5. Eyebeasts are, arguably, the most powerful creations. For lower levels, I'm very fond of Glaahks. If you can't produce the essence for much more powerful creations, make Glaahks.
  6. The boat should take you to the world map, not the zone. In fact, the map should have a little boat icon to jump islands, provided you've used the boat.
  7. Cool off, it doesn't matter who thought of this or that. My creations are pure-orange and only occupy terrain of the same color. Also, they tell you "you're cute" periodically.
  8. Uh oh, I'm in the sig. MagmaDragoon, you might want to consider shortening. Not the ingredient, but take out the extra spacing in your sig. Your posts take up the screen even if you post just one line ... I mean. You could get it down to: No one was born to be a slave. Join the Awakened TODAY! Slartucker: Magma, you are actually Marlenny's dog ... I think we should make MagmaDragoon's mother an honorary member of the forums. Nick Ringer: Are you suggesting Jeff Vogel is a god? Many here would not disagree. Spring: Magma, you look a bit like MM with glasses. > Written by MagmaDragoon , the mighty LavaKnight and also only one Italian™ in the Forum.
  9. Just to clarify (and maybe to show off, just a little): The Gull-Spears boat returns to Gull North Docks after the first time you use it; to misquote the game, because "Gull North Docks would be a better place from which to continue an adventure."
  10. You can't get the ring until late in the game (Purified Essence is only found in Pharaon's (sp?) Hall and in the Pit of the Bound). I remember the Infiltrator's cloak being in that northern pass ... Infiltrator Vest: in faculty room of Magus Complex; on body near servant mind of Benerii-Uss Power Infiltrator's Cloak: on body in northern corner of Northern Pass; on body near servant mind of Benerii-Uss Power Infiltrator Charm: from clockwork drakon of Clockwork Maze Infiltrator Shield: in southeast building of Trapped Forest Other unofficial infiltration items: Tinker's Gloves: in Kari's room of Clockwork Maze; in central room of Shade Patrol Shining Shield: from cult leader of Zhas-Uss Outskirts; for completing Battle Beta quest from Darian of Darian's Sanctuary

Thanks for reminding me that Danette was the one who started it all. I was really trying to think of it a few days ago. Something a little more RTS-geared would be cool. Like, maybe you get to go exploring. And choose one of three places to establish a camp. And this alters the game. I love things that force you to play through multiple times. Commanding troops is a must. And prequels. I love prequels. Suggested playing as Trajkov prior to the Sucia Expedition. I'd REALLY like to play as a Sholai, without the Shapers being in the game too much. Speaking of the Sholai, in GF1 they say they're from a cold place, right? But the GF3 guy says it's tropical ...
  12. Altering PC graphics requires lots and lots of time, but nothing more advanced than MS Paint. Doing something like giving the agent long swaying hair, or the townspeople potbellies would be easier and more worthwhile. It's also fun to change static graphics (I did the boat). No reason not to turn blood pools into banana peels and impaled skulls into colorful balloons. There are other more profane things one can do to the graphics that I have chosen not to describe.
  13. Shhh! The one who started this thread didn't!
  14. Quote: Originally written by sharx: nice graphics you drew them? Yep. I don't use my free time very wisely. Not according to my family, anyway. I think serviles should wield double-barreled bazookas ... "What are you doing out of the mines? Get back to work, Servile!" *cha-click* "... never mind." Or, maybe my ideas regarding flight were better ... Assorted ground-based creations. I will now spontaneously think of names for them: the muscular one can be a Flaahk (a tailless Glaahk?). The two-legged thing with a tail on its head is a Flitch. And the freak on the bottom is a Vone. EDIT: the on with the tail on its head has four legs. Mercy, me. The next post, by the way, will be #200.
  15. Ohhhh yeah ... although it wasn't fun to hit the "use item" button and then the lever ... 14 times. There should be an Unlock dialogue with a picture of the lock (as I like pictures), and a description (I like those too). Then your choices, as with a conversation: 1. Attempt to unlock it with Living Tools. 2. Attempt to unlock it with magic. Number one would lead to either "You are skilled enough to successfully pick the lock." or "You do not have enough Living Tools to pick the lock." The latter would give you the option to compensate for the lack of tools with magic. Number two would lead to either "You are skilled enough to successfully break the lock" or "You are not skilled enough to successfully break the lock." The latter would give you the option to compensate for the lack of magic with tools. Make any sense? For the sake of example, say each point of lock difficulty costs you 10 essence/spell energy. Imagine a lock with a difficulty of 20. You have 15 tools and 150 essence/energy. You might use them all and 50 essence/energy. Or, you might use all your magic and 5 tools to help out. So 1 Living Tool is equivalent to 10 essence/energy. And we don't even need to fill a slot with the Unlock spell. Agreeable?
  16. I personally do not like the categorization of spells as it is now. I also am anti-Unlock. But only because it does not give you experience, while Tools do. The reason people are ending up with masses, heaps, and bounties of Living Tools is that one cannot see one lying there and leave it. They're pretty valuable, for exp or for money. You should be able to use Living Tools in conjunction with Unlock. So if the spell isn't enough, you can use a few Tools to help out. That makes it unreasonable not to use the spell but also beneficial to collect tools. Unless you explicitly avoid locked doors, everybody wins.
  17. The most useful characteristic of Drayks is their ability to burn down Rotghroths in a turn or two. With the projectile attack, I mean. The Geneforge's "instructions" state that, one the user has been altered, he will be able to SWIM in the pool. So couldn't you, perhaps, drink it? That would be tasty. Everything you were to touch would be taken apart from the genes, I suppose.
  18. Extremely so. Nice that we could convert someone to be forum-savvy by his tenth post! And just the next thread over I was whining about him. Sorry, sharx. Frankly love the idea of moving with aid of creations. Flying would be pretty, well, revolutionary for the Shaper world. "Sea Drayks" were introduced briefly in GF1. I would like to see more flying creations, though. A bird of some kind or huge wasps, maybe? I dub thee, "Prouch."
  19. Not that I rely on the transient pleasure some get from accusing people of hypocrisy, but ... posting in a three day-old thread doesn't exactly improve your standings with me, sharx; it's just the persistent, annoying type of behavior you're referring to. Before we stereotype you as a weenie, consider what you type before you depress that fateful mouse button.
  20. The game should make the ending less fulfilling, or something, if you cheat ... but then of course, we can't use SDF's to fix logic errors (like Icy End randomly going hostile).
  21. Well. Wasn't speaking from experience. I just recall getting it up to about 15, and everything that wasn't a ridiculous monster died when it hit me. Just assumed it'd continue getting better as it leveled higher.
  22. Seriously? Don't make fun of someone for not being able to spell the name of an obscure fantasy creature. Man. My relevant reactions: A) I don't know about Drakons themselves, but Ur-Drakons should be given some magic of their own. Or essence. Something that sets them apart. Yep. C) Never bothered me. Then again, I make a lousy Shaper. D) I hate the Fire/Battle/Magic categories. Think there should be some other way to divide up the skills. E) I love Glaahk. They must be restored to their former glory. F) Guardians don't really need an advantage. But I don't play the really high difficulies with Guardians. So I don't know. Speaking of difficulty, I don't think you should be able to change it during the game.
  23. I just had a splendid idea. Spend all of your skill points on Parry. You should get it up to 16 (actually calculated). Anything that attacks you in melee will die. You can't just do that from the start of the game, of course; the high incidence of getting hit by low-level enemies' attacks would bring you to your knees. When you have the opportunity to bump it like this (you're already suriving without spending skill points elsewhere) you might as well take advantage. You can become largely invincible with enough Parry; if it's up in the 20's you can just walk through Gazak-Uss or anywhere with Drakons bouncing off you. Parry was removed from GF3 for that reason.
  24. Mu, do you mean Drayks? Or were you just making it up? Wasn't aware of Drakons in Geneforge 1 (the fact being that there is no Drakon graphic)
  25. As I recall, being Awakened cleared the level as soon as I entered. If you're not Awakened, I believe you have to kill everything that moves to clear it. Maybe some serviles or golems left over wouldn't hurt, but Tuldaric must go. ... but why would turning this green mean that much to you? Sense of completion, I suppose?
