  2. One should also take care not to advertise too much. Many forums frown upon a topic which just says; Avernum 4 is out, it's so cool, go download it!!! I've been on ambrosiasw's boards for quite some years as Opalius, and we've had many such topics. They don't contribute to a board community at all. Alas, there's all ready a topic there. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101428&st=0&p=1518952entry1518952 You could say that that's advertising, but in a good way.
  3. Hrm, I think my slith is using a blessed spear. So getting a bronze halberd instead will be better?
  4. Which herbs are used for the skill potions? I've got tons of healing and spiritual ones, and don't need making standard potions. Can I just sell them?
  5. Ah. That's very useful to know. Thanks.

  7. While I like the Avernum series, I also realize that they're huge games, and very time consuming. I don't have that much free-time, so I'll probably only be going through A4 once. That said, I of course would also like to maximize what to get of the game. I'm still in the beginning of the game, and I've all ready seen so many things, it's difficult to know, what to sell, and what to keep for later. I drop iron at the blacksmith, no big deal. How about herbs? Keep'em for later or sell? By browsing the forums I've picked up, that keeping fine leathers and emeralds is a good idea. But what about all the other stuff? I've found some gold-bars, other precious stones and focusing crystals. Going through the game only once, and then finding out in the end that I could have made +5000 gold on selling all meal to a merchant needing it is kinda boring. Stuff like that. Could any of you please tell me what I'm going to encounter that is of use for later?
  8. Quote: Originally written by Synergy: That's 8 Dex and 6 Strength, for gymnastics Having recently acquired the game I've only played around in the very beginning of it. I saw the post above, and it made me think. Do all of the extra skills; parry, bladermaster, sharpshooter etc, need special stats to improve? Is there a list over the "extra" skills? [edit] Just saw this post as well: Quote: Originally written by Synergy: For your archer, I would work towards 6 Dexterity and 8 Bows to make him able to train Sharpshooter. The slith fighter will want some pole skills, unless you made him a melee fighter, and 4-5 Strength, 4-5 Dexterity to start with. If you get him to 8 Dex and 6 Strength, he can train in Gymnastics which will make it hard to hit him. If you get 6 Dex and 6 Defense, you can train him in Parry, which will help deflect blows. Isn't there somewhere I can see all of these things, as they seem quite important? Hrm, might as well put some more questions in here while I'm at it. How much arcane/nature lore in total should you aim for? Does increasing bladermaster help someone fighting with pole-arms? Ah, after poking around a bit I found this thread, providing me with all the answers. http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=000014#000000 So, if anyone could answer the arcane/nature question I'd be happy
  9. Bah, it now works again. All though it's no longer registered, and my code doesn't work. I've sent a mail to spiderwebsw.
  10. Downloaded the game yesterday, and got registered it today. Seems like I have the same problem as this guy: http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000722 It gives me this message: "Failed to open sound channels" It worked fine for several hours. Didn't change anything. When the message came, I tried reinstalling. Didn't help. Imac g5 older model, 10.4.3. What gives?
