That Berekh Hive in the beta was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had in BoA. It was more bearable once I turned off the sound though. That was the primary source of lag.

I should also add if you don't know, that some scenarios are infamously bad. I have never heard a good thing said about Nephilim Mystery, Foul Hordes or Undead Valley.

There are multiple ways someone could conceivably pronounce Avadon. 'ă və don, 'ā və don, ə 'vă dən, and ə 'vā dən, for instance.

It's not really Steam's fault, or at least not directly. The Mac versions of Spiderweb games released prior to Avadon use resource forks to store the games' graphics, sounds, and other data. This method has been deprecated on macOS for quite some time, and very few applications still used them when Steam started supporting macOS. One major issue with resource forks is that, if the file containing them is stored on a filesystem that does not support them, the data is lost. For this reason, and the fact that Valve has little impetus to develop support for a file that Apple has deprecated for over a decade, games containing resource forks cannot be sold on Steam.

The Mac version of Avernum 5 is not on Steam. The only way way to get the Mac version is to purchase it directly from Spiderweb Software or to the buy the bundle from GOG.

Woah. I've been playing this game for over a decade, and I didn't realize that.

The only relationship I can recall between two BoA scenarios is that Kelandon's "Magic" follows somewhat on his "Exodus".

It is indeed the full version. Dragonlore, the developer, went out of business years ago, and they have given their permission for the game to be distributed as freeware.

I have the exact same issue you describe when running Avadon 3 on my 2012 15" retina MacBook Pro with a GeForce GT 650M running Sierra.
