Gate in Nephilim Fort (A1)
Tyranicus posted a topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
It's been quite a while since I last played A1 (over 3 years, I think), so I'm a little rusty. Does anyone know what's behind this gate and how to get past it? EDIT: Yes, I know that my party is way overpowered. I'm just running through the game with an overskilled party for fun and to prepare for the Windows release of A4 -
Renaming Characters?
Tyranicus replied to Tyranicus's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Thanks Goldenking. I forgot that it was a special ability. I was looking in the Character Editor. *Hangs head in shame* -
I started a new A1 game today, and decided that I wanted Jay in Silvar to join my party. I'm curious. Is there a way to rename him?

Favourite Avernum Game
Tyranicus replied to Inthrall's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
They all have good parts, but A2 has the best plot. A1 was really good too, but the lack of a quest list and no right-click look makes it annoying. -
The nephilim language

Actually, all cats can purr, so the fact that the Nephilim can purr doesn't really prove anything. The fact that a roaring Nephil has never been encountered (correct me if I'm wrong) says a lot more than their purr. I would think that if Nephilim could roar, they would do so during battle and that the game would comment on this. -

Carbonized Avernum Public Beta

Jeff accidentally put the period in his link. -

I have the exact same problem. I have no idea what's wrong, but hopefully it can be fixed. Other than that I must admit that this is an amazing project. Out of pure curiosity, did you have a separate computer with A2 open, or did you have to keep Alt+Tabbing between the BoA editor and A2?

Nethergate News

Quote: Originally written by CPeters: Right click on the task bar. Click on properties. Uncheck the box that says "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows". I know that, but I don't want to have to do it every time I play Nethergate. I like the taskbar there when I'm not playing a fullscreen game. There is a way to do it too. I mean, the Avernum games take up the whole screen just fine. -
Nethergate News
Tyranicus replied to Emmisary of Immanence's topic in Nethergate and Nethergate: Resurrection
Since Nethergate has always been my favorite, I'm bouncing off the walls with excitement! I think I will join with Alorael in the burning of wicker men. Quote: upgrading to 800x600 resolution Does he mean 1024x768? It's already at 800x600 isn't it? One improvement I would love with Nethergate would be to fix the issue with Windows XP that displays the taskbar. When I first played it on 98, it covered the screen nicely, but with XP, the taskbar is still visible at the bottom, and with an 800x600 resolution, this leaves for less space to stick the automap. If he could put the automap over the equipment screen like in Avernum instead of as a free-floating window, I would love that. Right-click look functionality would be greatly appreciated as well. -
I always wondered why they limited those things. I meam, in real life, you can pretty much wear an infinite number of necklaces, bracelets and rings. EDIT: The ring restriction is especially annoying. Come on! You've got six more fingers! (I'm presuming that one doesn't wear rings on one's thumb. I suppose one could, but I would find it rather hindersome.)

If all else fails, you can try to reinstall BoE in a diffent directory. It's not like leaving the old installation on your hard drive will hurt anything. BoE doesn't take up all that much space at all.

Tyranicus replied to Dark Mage's topic in Nethergate and Nethergate: Resurrection
It seems to me that this has been discusseed a few times before. There really isn't a way to make a Nethergate 2. I mean, the story was pretty much final. A new game done in the style of Nehtergate would be interesting though. -
How do I get the evidence?

Erika's Tower A2
Tyranicus replied to bobby blake otr's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
According to Schrodinger's FAQ, you step on the tiles like this: 1 _ _ _ 2 6 5 3 4 Switching places with the other characters in your party does not set off the buttons. It seems to me that I got through there as a singleton though, but I can't figure out for the life of me how I did it. -
Erika's Tower A2
Tyranicus replied to bobby blake otr's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
You have to weave in and out around the posts to avoid setting off hidden buttons that close the gates. It took me forever to get through that one too. EDIT: I can't believe that i actually had 'pust' up instead of 'posts' for over a day without noticing. I hate typos and when I see that I've made one, I instinctively correct it. -
How do I get the evidence?
Tyranicus replied to Ik3's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Quote: I thought Erika was such a big enemy of the Empire, why is she deep in Empire territory then? Erika's Tower is actually under siege by empire forces in Avernum 2. Quote: I don't have the Empire Crystal Soul Scroll, though, so I can't sneak into the back of Pyrog's lair. How do I get that scroll? It's been a while, so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but as far as i remember, everything you need to get into Pyrog's Lair is in the Empire Archives on an island in the Central Sea. EDIT: Oh yeah! Now I remember. You get the evidence in Fort Dolthar where you go to kill Limoncelli. I'm pretty sure it's on an island somewhere as well. I'm not quite sure where, but you could try checking Schrodinger's FAQ at http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/ That usually can tell you all the things you need to go to get to places. -
A3 Trainer Released!

How do I get the evidence?
Tyranicus replied to Ik3's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Pyrog's Lair is accesible from the back. You have to get to the Empire Archives in the Central Sea (there's an Empire dock with some boats to the east of the main entrance to Pyrog's Lair. If you've gotten 2 of the Crystals Souls and can't get into Pyrog's Lair, I presume that you have the Souls from the Spire and Angierach. If you made it to Angierach, you can't get any farther into Empire territory. There are Empire-controlled areas that you never wil be able to enter. The only places deep in Empire territory you can go are Erika's Tower, Garzahd's Castle, and the Portal Fortress, which are only accessible from the portal in the Tower of the Magi. -
Not to mention the fact that Far Sight found all secret passages.
