  1. The crystal shroud is great for Guardians. Make it as soon as possible.

Otherwise, your best options are probably steel spines and golden crystals. Golden crystals will give you a lot of resistance to other effects, and may enable you to ignore several touch effects, however they are pretty rare so use them only on armor you intend to keep for a while (crystal shroud, symbiotic cloak).

  2. You can't. However, the purified essence used to make the infiltrator's ring can be used instead to make an essence aegis on Dhonal island. It's a matter of personal taste.

Oh and Student of Trinity- mind if I use this info in a FAQ? I'll provide full credit.

  3. Near the end of the game, there's 50 K in alterations you can purchase on the Isle of Spears and the Monastery of Tears. That's always been enough to blow off the rest of my gold.

  4. I'm not completely certain, but I think the threshold in GF3 is 6 canisters (more than this results in uncontrollable violence towards rogue serviles). I'm playing a nearly purist agent who has used 3 canisters so far (just cleared Gull Island and am doing the top of Monastery of Tears). Also, I think that modifications from some individuals (Drakon on Spears, Shaper on Spears, Shaper in Monastery of tears) don't actually add to this number. I'll let you all know when I complete the game.

Wow, that's a decent number of parentheses.

  5. There are very few plain golems in the game. The golems in the plague don't count. That messenger quest is probably one of the worst available (although aranea is pretty bad as well). There are some Golems in the FAR NE part of the continent. You may need to fly, but eventually you'll get out to a small island and fight a lich and some golems. Those will count to finish that quest.

  6. Nephilim start out pretty slow in the game, but with time, get some very strong bow bonuses that help make up for it. One of the first people to beat the game with a solo character who had the nastiest two penalty traits (on extreme difficulty, I might add) did so with a nephil archer, so they're not that bad.

However, I would almost recommend having a nephil priest instead of nephil fighters, as their bow skills will make up for the lack of magic attacks (smite is too weak).

Also, taking a negative trait with little problems (like sickness prone) can help nullify the experience penalty from the nephil class.
