Darkstone Forging Items (possible spoilers)
Schrodinger replied to Guardian of Eternity's topic in Geneforge Series
The crystal shroud is great for Guardians. Make it as soon as possible. Otherwise, your best options are probably steel spines and golden crystals. Golden crystals will give you a lot of resistance to other effects, and may enable you to ignore several touch effects, however they are pretty rare so use them only on armor you intend to keep for a while (crystal shroud, symbiotic cloak). -
He's pretty obvious in the NE quad. He's blue and sitting on his throne.

There is no adverse consequence of having Resnick fry you, nor Tolleran, nor Orois Blaze outside of role-playing interest. Fry away.
-
Check out his nearby jars after you get one of his antagonizing scripts. You should find something inside that will make him vulnerable.

Dam energy pulse mind crystal

I'm not too certain but I think that in A2 if you let the dumbfounding persist for too long, you'll end up losing some intelligence points. A healer is definitely your best bet. -
You can't. However, the purified essence used to make the infiltrator's ring can be used instead to make an essence aegis on Dhonal island. It's a matter of personal taste. Oh and Student of Trinity- mind if I use this info in a FAQ? I'll provide full credit.

Check here. Student of Trinity's excellent list is very helpful. There's a third extra set of crystalline fibers available, though you have to be near the end of the game.

Near the end of the game, there's 50 K in alterations you can purchase on the Isle of Spears and the Monastery of Tears. That's always been enough to blow off the rest of my gold.

Geneforge 3 for Windows: going back to South End
Schrodinger replied to gkvl's topic in Geneforge Series
In order to get leave Fort Wilton, you'll need to check in with the customs agent and enter the nearby inn. This will open up the gates. Moving to GF3. -

I'm not completely certain, but I think the threshold in GF3 is 6 canisters (more than this results in uncontrollable violence towards rogue serviles). I'm playing a nearly purist agent who has used 3 canisters so far (just cleared Gull Island and am doing the top of Monastery of Tears). Also, I think that modifications from some individuals (Drakon on Spears, Shaper on Spears, Shaper in Monastery of tears) don't actually add to this number. I'll let you all know when I complete the game. Wow, that's a decent number of parentheses.

I bid on next week, but then again, I have inside knowledge...

Just a quick question- you do know you can move diagonally? Many people make the error of not moving diagonally to get past obstacles. -
Unmelting ice is near the creator, I think if you enter from the east.

Check outside of Erika's tower. You have to fight a number of efreet; this is one of the toughest battles in the game. -

A2 - Lava Dome treasure room

You can't enter that area. It's a remnant of conversion from Exile 2, but there's no way in. -
Strange occurances

1) The Spiral crypt holds a brooch, I believe. Make it to the center and search the bodies. 2) Wait until the first day of the month- the door will open. Alternatively, come back with Unlock 3. 3) I don't think so. Check Avernum Annotated Maps to be certain. -
There are very few plain golems in the game. The golems in the plague don't count. That messenger quest is probably one of the worst available (although aranea is pretty bad as well). There are some Golems in the FAR NE part of the continent. You may need to fly, but eventually you'll get out to a small island and fight a lich and some golems. Those will count to finish that quest.

Moving to Geneforge 3 forum to encourage discussion.

Yes- looking at the game's scripts, there is indeed one extra in Zhass-Uss. Sorry for not getting this info to you earlier.

A2: new party structure
Schrodinger replied to Elizara's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Nephilim start out pretty slow in the game, but with time, get some very strong bow bonuses that help make up for it. One of the first people to beat the game with a solo character who had the nastiest two penalty traits (on extreme difficulty, I might add) did so with a nephil archer, so they're not that bad. However, I would almost recommend having a nephil priest instead of nephil fighters, as their bow skills will make up for the lack of magic attacks (smite is too weak). Also, taking a negative trait with little problems (like sickness prone) can help nullify the experience penalty from the nephil class. -
No, not really. There's a wand and that's about it.

Did you use the wheel at all? If so, use it again. THe stairs work best when you don't use the wheel. The block won't fall at the 90 degree turn.
