  1. Sigh- this is a spiderweb tech support board. Try gamefaqs' boards for more relevent help. People there may actually be familiar with your problem.
  2. Try redownloading from a different site. Sometimes files can be corrupted.
  3. #2475, right? Unfortunately, you suffered from the same bug as some other members. Notify Drakefyre if you want to get your old rank returned as a special title.
  4. Sorry, had to delete the old topic. If you ever find a site like that, send the info to Jeff rather than post it here. He may actually be able to do something about it.
  5. The demo ends once you get to cross the bridge. If you downloaded it from the ftp site listed in the email, you're probably OK. It's likely that your game is fine, and you'll probably get the CD shortly if not anyway.
  6. Check here for a text version of the FAQ. Zeviz's page is based in part on it, but contains a few more items.
  7. I am pretty sure that the Mac save files will not transfer to the PC. Such is the case for all the Avernum games.
  8. There is one occasion in which the skull will direct you to a bracelet which can not be obtained without its assistance. Other than that, I don't bother with the annoying thing.
  9. I give all of my players the berzerk trait. It doesn't seem to hurt much, and it has some nice benefits. This is especially true if I'm going to be investing in the berzerk skill.
  10. Topics like these are not appreciated. The Nethergate board does as it will.
  11. I really like Nethergate, for many of the reasons stated here. It has many elements of a great game. The storyline is fascinating, and having two views of the game is original. You can find some interesting secrets even if you do keep playing (I found some mystical pants in Castle Aethdoc after my third or fourth play-through). That said, there are still some significant engine problems- spell circles aren't balanced, stats aren't balanced (take a look at the uselessness of the endurance stat), there are few high-level, challenging monsters to hunt and kill, the most powerful spells in the game aren't very useful, there are 25 or so areas on the map, compare this to Avernum's 70 or so, and there are a few minor bugs that just don't make the game stand out as a shining jewel.
  12. It's been a long time since I played, but try checking out Zeviz's page- you may find some nice hints. What riddle is giving you trouble? The answer to one of them is SMILE.
  13. Spiderweb doesn't work on weekends. Wait till tomorrow.
  14. You may want to try redownloading the game. Files can get corrupted in transit. I've not heard of this bug before, but that may help.
  15. You have two main possibilities. One, you can grab the celt NPC for your party. She will help immensely, as she starts off with 4 points in the craft circle. Second, the hags in Hagfen can help you. If you complete their quests, you can read scrolls that give you either 4 points in craft or beast circle, depending on what you want (craft is by far superior, IMHO).
  16. Just to make sure- you know you can move diagonally, right? Use either the mouse or the number pad. Sorry if you already know this, but sometimes people don't realize it.
  17. I've tried singletons in all of the Avernum series, but not this one. I don't think it would work quite so well- Singletons are pretty much impractical in all games other than A3, as I don't think Jeff realized people liked to play that way till then.
  18. It may count as an "evil act" and thus hurt your chances of getting the large blessing from the stone circle near Castle Aethdoc, but I'm not certain. In any case, it probably doesn't do much of anything.
  19. No, sadly the game ends at that point. It's different from A1 and A2 in that respect. If you really want to continue, reload your last save game, and use the editor to return to start. This will let you finish most of your quests.
  20. Strange. Have you used the character editor much? Skills can't be increased if they cost too many skill points or gold. If you don't have enough of either, then you can train. I haven't heard of this error before, so I don't really know what to say.
  21. And you're in the same room as a trainer? If not, be sure to go there when attempting to train. There's a trainer in the NE corner of Fort Emergence.
  22. Ah, they're in the basement to the SE or E, I believe- check the FAQ, it may give more clear directions there.
  23. The dat files should be sufficient. I forget which one in particular.
  24. Oog. You should report this bug to spiderweb. I can't help you, but they may be able to. Be sure to give them a full and complete description, to the best of your ability. spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com
