  1. I've not seen the post where the tool is mentioned, but you've been had. No Xian tool exists in Geneforge 2. It's a reference to the Xian skull topic.

That said, as soon as you start playing a character, you will need to make a fyora by the second map, and keep it alive till you reach Inner Gazak-Uss. Inside, you'll find a friendly Drakon who will trade you a piece of metal for the fyora. The piece of metal is a fan blade, which when you attach it to the lab equipment in Gramplin's lab, will blow away his rug revealing the tool.

  2. 1. I'm pretty sure no, though I can't say I ever went back after searching the area thoroughly.

    2. I've never not rescued the shade, but I can't imagine any significant change.

    3. The bonus is minimal compared to the boots. Definitely stick with the boots.

    4. Sadly no. I've always gone for the spell, since it is quite impressive and powerful.

    5. For a druid, I noticed the druid bracelet was superior (one additional icelance over an intelligence bracelet).

    6. I noticed the carytids as well, but nothing else. Strange, but you're probably right about the crones and Jeff forgetting.

  3. The beautiful shard is used by Sharon to make you a ring. You can't complete it in the demo. You can't make it through the crystal cave without the constant damage, although if you enter combat mode it becomes much easier.

  4. Try reinstalling in a different location and transferring your .dat folder over to the new location. That may work. If not, email Martyrfox for a more exact description of what he did, since your problems sound similar.

  5. You'll probably need to recopy VoDT to your scenarios folder. A reinstall of Blades of Avernum could do the trick, or you could reinstall to a different location and copy the folder to the scenarios folder. Up to you. If you haven't got the key yet, the former is probably the easiest option.

  6. There's a hidden room on the east of the map with several pots that catch fire when you step on the pots. It's a puzzle, and I think the way I described it is the easiest way to light them all up (or turn them off, as the case may be).

This is in the basement of Hagfen, which you should be able to reach.
