  1. While it's definitely true that most beta testers are powergamers, I most certainly am not. I played the beta on Easy most of the way through (switching from Normal shortly after the demo portion) and I can assure you, the game is definitely winnable on Easy. As others have said, the difficulty got turned WAY down from the early versions, and easy is now actually easy. My troubles occurred in not putting enough points into Endurance early, and looking at my build later, I wish I would have skipped the one human I did keep and made him a slith. Since you've edited your Endurance, you should be better there. I also have to second the advice to split your magic/priest spells up. Once I started having my mage learn priest spells and my priest learn mage spells, life got a lot better. Two healers and two fireblasts are better than one! Since you're having a lot of trouble with mental attacks, be sure your mage gets Unshackle Mind. Also, don't forget about those priestly buffs. Sure it takes a round away that he could be hammering away at the baddie, but the lessened damage you'll take is worth it. Try to buff up before you hit the actual enemy, most of the enemy encounters are obvious enough that you'll have plenty of time to throw on at least a couple buffs plus a haste spell and be golden.
  2. I wholeheartedly agree. Especially now that the hint book is electronic, being able to play in a window is much appreciated!
  3. Wow, didn't realize it didn't work that way on the Windows version. That sucks.
  4. Hey, at least it now asks you to hit F4 twice to reload, it didn't used to and I can't tell you how many games I screwed up with that. This is much better!
  5. I'm a fan of the Oozing Blade too. With high enough Quick Action, you're getting double hits pretty often, plus throwing acid on the enemy with each thrust. For me, that makes up for any difference in damage versus another, stronger blade.
  6. My husband encountered something similar in beta testing. He was in the Boiling Mudpits and was sending creations through the mines and stuff to check things out. His lead character never actually walked through the area to get to the north exit to the Caverns, but his creations did. When he exited the area, the Boiling Caverns was there and able to be accessed, even though he hadn't actually cleared the Mudpits himself, only his creations had. He didn't actually clear the mines in the Mudpits for a while after that.
  7. My husband just bought a new Dell, and one of the options was an upgrade to Vista. Since it's shipping in a few days, we don't know if it's actually installed yet or if it's something they send later or something, but it will have Vista at some point. My guess is that the official release to stores for consumer purchase will be late January, but new computers purchased now will include Vista. Saves Microsoft from having to offer free/cheap upgrades later to people who bought their brand new computers for Christmas. Give it to them now and save the headaches.
  8. Just double-click on the .dmg and it'll come up as a disk image. It'll act like you attached another drive. You then just follow the instructions you see when you click on the disk image in the sidebar in the Finder window. Disk images are really easy to work with, and as far as I know, there's no special software needed, so you don't have to worry about people not having Stuffit.
