  1. Whoa. Looks like my teddy. (I 'modified' him when I was 7) Maybe this is why your link didn't work, Nikki. (Just the title) It's a pity really alien aliens are so rare. If aliens aren't people with donkey ears and flaky skin, they're really based on insects. Except for The Blob, of course. (and a few others, like the forementioned two Thing films) Though some aliens tend towards the absurd - giant fly swatters, anyone?
  2. If I can, I fourth it. One of the best series I've read in years, though I most definitely found the end disappointing, not quite going with the tone of the story. Not that I'm saying it's a bad ending, far from that, just not at all what I expected.
  3. Oops, I believe I posted that on the wrong page. To get into the discussion on this page, I have to agree the Thing was great. I never have understood, was it a remake of the older black&white version, or not? (Having not seen the older one) Did you know Burt (The Grin) Lancaster's son did the screenplay? Originally Posted By: ΛΞΨ That was an awesome movie. Speaking of awesome: District 9. That wasn't that awesome. The alien costumes (ahem, humanoids à la Star Trek), though were nice.
  4. Have just found Green Magic on the internet. Awesome. I think I shall find more by that author. I shall try the other books, too, if I can find them ^^ The net is my best bet.
  5. So it's more al-or-ai-el? (ai as rhyming with "high") Because that's the way I would pronounce Raphael. Though I always thought it was al-or-ael (rhyming with ale). I suppose my daily speaking of French has tainted my pronunciation of Raphael, more like.

    A Reflection

Titan sounds fun, though complicated. The mention of tons of dice reminds me of my Magic: the Gathering games. Having looked through some google images of it, it actually seems quite fascinating. To investigate. Scrabble is an immensely fun game. I don't know what you have against it Whether you whip out your 8 letter 9x score words, or come up with a two letter monosyllabic pair of vowels, and then point it out in the Official Scrabble Dictionary (a pile of weird words), you're in for a fun time. Anyone want to share highs scores? ( I once got 200~ points for one word). Another fun board game is... chess.
  7. Just my daily non sequitur. Though now I check it, I am fairly sure I pasted the wrong link... @Sleeping Dragon - Bush! Speaking of Bush, the other day our new village mayor was elected (a common practice in France). I didn't much find this interesting, until I discovered his name was ... G. Buisson.
  8. Carl Sagan is a master. Have you read the Dragons of Eden?
  9. Yes we could - the directors habits of always changing the books are terrible. But whatever. Can anyone recommend me some good fantasy/SF? I'm finishing all the Orson Scott Card books, and finally finding some fantasy which isn't just the type of book you have with breakfast for the fun of it, which is actually a very good book, has made me want more.
  10. If you email him with your details, he'll give you new keys for those old games. I'm awaiting a reply for my question, will keep you up to date. edit: 20$ off.
  11. 648+994 does not make 7000 ^^ Or did I miss something there? Congrats Diki! Is it a coincidence Episode 6 surfaces at around the same time as this milestone? Maybe you can include me in this one. I seem to recall being killed in episode 2 - maybe I can have a more glorified part. Perhaps some day I will reach 606.
  12. It was indeed quite a surprise. Obama himself was quite surprised - I'm trying to dig us the exact quote. It is however a good point - it puts even more attention on him, so that when (if he gets round to it) he does something really groundbreaking, it will seem even more important (I don't know if I got my point clear there). But it's also quite weird - is he not currently involved in two wars? Maybe they just gave it to him cos he's just so different than Bush? I am simply glad they didn't award it to that prat Sarkozy. EDIT: Aha! "I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honoured by this prize," and "I will accept this award as a call to action, a call to all nations, to confront the challenges of the 21st century". He did however give his Nobel prize money to charity. Also, interesting.
  13. Freeverse are terrible with old games. Wingnuts 1, after being released in the full version freely (exactly two days after I paid for it >.<) is now just a footnote on the Wingnuts 2 page. And many other games published by them more than 4 years ago now are nowhere to be found. I did however manage to secure a copy of the demo of ByteME (I think) a couple years ago by contacting Freeverse. I suggest you try the same. 14. I read Angels and Demons not long ago too. If you look past the ridiculous parts, I just liked the way the plot fit together. Though It would have (just like the Da Vinci Code) been much more enjoyable had it been set in a fictional setting, because then most of the ridiculousness would have been irrelevant. Though the book was a perfectly amusing, though far from good, read, I REGRET paying 7 euros to sit through the two hours of rubbish that is the film! It cut out the only fun bits in the plot, and Max Kohler wasn't even mentioned. And all the names were changed. And the villain was made Irish, a fact which deeply insulted my patriotism.

  16. I've never driven in Paris (France ^^), and wouldn't want to! (at least not with several inches of car around me) Under pants? A frayed knot.
  17. If you buy the CD with all five Geneforge games on it, currently available in the Spiderweb store, can you get a discount if you've already bought Geneforge 2 and 4?
  18. Depends what type of aliens. Would definitely not follow the District 9 path >.< I have to agree with Nioca on the diplomatic note. Providing we can get them to understand us - because, true, unless we are extremely lucky, any aliens who attempt to invade us will definitely have a higher tech level than us. Tell you what, I'll bring my imac underground too and we can rig up a network!
  19. I'm only 15, but the law in France stipulates you can drive a scooter type thingy from the age of 14. (Let us not mention the percentage of road accident deaths due to this) These scooters are limited to 45 kph, but as you can expect all us anarchists twiddle our ones so we can go much faster. I tend to leave my scooter in the garage due to the recent abundance of policemen checking teenagers scooters lately (wonder why...), but from my experience on the roads, the French rarely go above the speed limit (providing they aren't teenagers on scooters, ofc). Can't really tell about other countries because I am solely a passenger there
  20. I seem to have problems running the installers for avernum 1-3 from spidweb.com . As far as I can see the problem is that the installers are classic application which don't run on my (nice shining ) new Intel iMac. Is there any alternative download sites with installers that run on intel macs? Because I haven't replayed the demos for the original 3 avernums for some time, and am planning to buy another spiderweb game and want to repay them all to decide. Or maybe there is some classic os9 emulator around? EDIT: Having just checked, avernum 3 at least is not classic, But it won't open anyway. It bounces up in the dock in between 3 and 20 times and then 'unexpectedly quits'.
  21. Just put down E. R. Eddison's The Worm Ouroboros. Amazing, and a quite new adventure for me, being one of the first books I;ve read written in that type of archaic English.
  22. I always name my creations. I also occasionally freak out when my first Fyora snuffs it. With GF1-3 I gave them misplaced names (Charlie the Fyora, Bart the Gazer...) but with GF$ i keep calling most of them ---wyrd , like Flamewyrd, Firewyrd, Wyrdfang... Wierd, wot? (555)
  23. He can if you cheat... (see forum header - links to cheat scripts)
  24. Here's a list I compiled of Nethergate's items and their numbers to enter in the Character Editor's Add Item box when it asks you for a number. For those who don't want to look in corescendata2.txt. It's got most of the same items as BoA. Registered game users pobably won't need it . Feel free to copy it and host it if you want to, just don't forget to say I made it. 1-3 Coins 4-12 Food 13-16 Tunics 16-17 Cloaks 18-19 Pants 20-21 Shirts 22 - Toga 23 - Stola 24 - 28 Leather Armor 29- 33 Studdead Armor 34 - 38 Chain Mail 29 - 43 Plate Mail 44 - 48 Daggers 49 - 53 Cudgels 54 - 58 Swords 59 - 63 64-68 Spears 69 - 73 Pikes 74 - 78 Halberds 79 Stick 80 Cermonial Dagger 81 Kitchen Knife 82 staff 83 hammer 84 86 88 Javelins 109 Rock 110 - 112 Sandals 113 - 115 Boots 116 - 118 respectively Threadbare cloak and robe 117 - Blessed cloak 119 - Druids Robe 120 - 124 Small Shields 125 - 129 Shields 130 - 134 Large Shields 134 - 138 Leather Helms 139 - Wyrmskin helm 140 - 144 Metal helms 145 - 147 Gloves 148 - Gauntlets 149 -169 Various objects of no use 154 Cloth 157 bronze fibulae 166 amphora of wine 167 gold goblet 170 - 172 Candle torch lamp light sources 173 7eH 5p00n 174 LOCKPICKS 175 - 176 unused lockpicks 177 First Aid Kit 178 unused first aid 179/1820 Furs 181 Selkie Chief Skin 182 - 198 Various rubbish 199 - 202 Bars of metal 203 - 205 Gems 206 -208 Silver Gold Jeweled rings 209 - 210 Silver Gold bracelets 211 - 213 Silver Gold Torc necklaces 214 - 217 Herbs ( Healing Spiritual Energetic Mistletoe) 220 - 227 Draughts (Healing Curing Strength Energy Poison Haste Invulnerability Resistance in that order) 228 - 235 Elixirs (Healing Curing Strength Energy Poison Haste Invulnerability Resistance in that order) 236 - Knowledge Brew 237 - Restoration Brew 238 - Ambrosia 239 - Heroic Brew 240 - Graymold Salve 241 - Balm of Life 242 - Searing Balm 243 - Emptiness Brew 244 - 263 Scrolls 244 Scroll - Darts of Ice 245 Scroll - Call Beast 246 Scroll - Doom 247 Scroll - Haste 248 Scroll - Hero of Old 249 Scroll - Call Spirit 250 Scroll - Pass Portal 251 Scroll - Ravage Life 252 Scroll - Break Barrier 260 Scroll - Capture Mind 261 Scroll - Call Hunt 262 Scroll - Bitter Lost 263 Scroll - Withering 264 Ring of Vulnerability 270 Shield Ring 271 Skill 272 Resistance 273 Bladesmans 274 Spearflingers 275 Armor 276 Nimble 278 Warriors 279 Firewalker 280 Quicksilver 281 Eagle Eye 282 Wand of Bolts 283 Wand of Ice 284 Wand of Coils 285 Ravaging Baton 286 Wand of Fire 287 Wand of Doom 288 unused was forcecage 289 Wand of Carrunos 290 Rod of Control 291 Rod of Safe Descent 292 Rod of Calling 293 Rod of the Huntsman 294 Strength Bracelet 295 Dexterity Bracelet 296 Intelligence Bracelet 297 Endurance Bracelet 298 Druids Bracelet 299 Warriors Bracelet 300 Lucky Bracelet 301 Beastmaster Bracelet 302 Chill Charm 303 Warmth Charm 304 Health Charm 305 Shielding Charm 306 Basic Charm 307 War Charm 308 Freedom Charm 309 Crystal Charm 310 Knowledge Charm 311 Mirandas Locket 312 Hedgehog Charm 313 - 315 Leather Slings 316 - 320 Various rubbish 321 - 325 Bracers 326 Piercing Crystal 327 Unshackling Crystal 328 Void Crystal 329 Shard of Release 330 Robe of the Grove 331 Spider Silk Cloak 332 Dragonskin Cloak 333 Silken Pantaloons 334 Warrior's Plaid 335 Robe of the Archdruid 336 Radiant Robe 337 Rogue's Leather 338 Mauling Leather 339 Shadow Leather 340 Icy Chain Mail 341 Polished Breastplate 342 Assassin's Dagger 343 Dagger of the Sun 344 Burning Blade 345 Icy Longsword 346 Blade of Vengeance 347 Ghoulbane 348 Fomor Slayer 349 Jade Pike 350 Obsidian Spear 351 Crystal Wand 352 Gold Fibulae 353 Records Scroll 354 Entertaining Scroll 355 Strigil 356 Fury Helm 357 Emerald Helm 358 Helm of Speed 359 Runed Helm 360 Nimble Gloves 361 Mauling Gauntlets 362 Giantish Gauntlets 363 Aspskin Gloves 364 Gloves of the Fae 365 Boots of Apollo 366 Slippers of Speed 367 Wyrmsbane 372 - 377 Various rubbish 391 - 393 // // 386 - 390 Diamond, ore to sell ... 395 Bliss Elixir 396 Rogues Elixir 397 - 400 Food 416 Innards 401 - 415 Various rubbish 417 amber Charm 418 Faerie Wine 419 Sack of Meal 420 Bar of Gold 421 Crystal Shield 422 Glahz's Shield 423 Shield of Khar 424 Shield of Klin 425 Lifeshield 426 Shield of Klud 427 Martyr's Shield 428 Runeshield 429 Shield of Kron 430 Ring of Warmth 431 Icy Ring 432 Ring of Speed 433 Ring of Will 434 Aescal's Ring 435 Cordelia's Locket 438 Recall Ruby 439 Woad 440 Beast Circle Scroll 441 Craft Circle Scroll 442 All Circle Scroll 443 Huge Emerald 444 Fomorian Scroll 445 Crone Scroll 446 Fomorian Scroll 447 Piece of Paper 448 Old Records 449 Opening Stone 450 Sylak's Pants of Power 451 Sylak's Talking Skull 452 Sylak's Clever Pen 453 Sylak's Chaotic Dice 454 Sylak's Nourishing Bowl 455 Sylak's Efficient Mortar 456 Sylak's Ethereal Scalpel 457 Sylak's Exuberant Trash 458 Sylak's Assisting Horn 459 Sylak's Dancing Cloth 460 Sylak's Wisdom Rock 461 Sylak's Eternal Candle 462 Sylak's Amazing Bricks 463 Sylak's Thumpin' Shovel 466 Fomorian Blade 467 Fomorian Protector Compiled by JadeWolf
  25. Nethergate was almost my favorite game before this if not for the dialogue options (put me off all the times i tryed to play it) but Resurrection definitely burys that problem! My new favorite Spiderweb game. Well done Jeff!
